I was really craving pho and after some Yelp/Google Review searching, I found Pho Express. I like that they have a build your own pho option, since my favorite meats aren't usually in the same dish. I was meeting a friend for dinner, and she suggested we check out Pho Express, since she was craving soup. The tiny place was packed with customers and delivery personnel picking up orders, but they did have a few tables for those that wanted to dine there, which we did. The menu was available on a tablet, and it was easy to customize your order. While I like Pho, I was not as in the mood for a large bowl of broth as my friend was, so I opted for the Chicken Fillet Rice Plate, which consisted of sticky rice, a sliced chicken breast, and some fresh cucumber slices. It took a very long time for our food to be ready, but, once it was, the counter staff brought it over to our table, which I had not been expecting. The sauce on the chicken was a delicious glaze similar to teriyaki, but the poultry itself was slimy and did not seem like white meat. The low quality and icky texture were downers, since the chicken tasted good otherwise. Overall, I would not run back to Pho Express when there are better quick-serve options in the area. read more

What a happy surprise! I live here and usually only get my bahn mi at Saiguette or Bahn Mi Saigon in NYC. I came here after fasting for 12 hours for a blood test so I thought I would try the bahn mi here. I had the lemongrass pork bahn mi. To my surprise it was really flavorful and delicious! The pork was perfectly cooked and just bursting with flavor. I'm always afraid it wall be overcooked. Though the whole sandwich was smaller than its NYC counterparts-it was big enough-probably appropriately sized. It could have used more cilantro-I wasn't even sure there was anything in it. It had chopped iceberg lettuce which was odd-would prefer that it just put more cucumber slices in it. The roll was very soft so A plus for that. We ordered Uber Eats delivery from here and were not fully impressed. The lemongrass pork banh mi was very 'stingy'. In half the sandwich there was barely any meat and about 3 pieces of pickled veggies. The other half had more meat but again not many veggies. A traditional banh mi would have been filled with cilantro, mint, lime, pickled carrots, daikon and cucumber at minimum and maybe pâté and meat floss. The bread was also chewy like Italian bread - not a French baguette. Although the pork had a nice intense flavor, it was disappointing for +$13. The chicken pho was much better. So happy that this new Vietnamese restaurant opened! Owner is very friendly, and the service is superb!! Everything came out so fast and tasted fresh. We ordered the takoyaki again, the balls were fried so well, and the inside is so flavorful. Pho--great broth, noodles were nice and chewy. The only thing I think I would suggest is if the meat was on the side just incase it overcooks, but otherwise great and would come back! Ambiance is very cute, and clean! Good pho is criminally hard to find in the NYC area. Pho Express checks all the boxes. Great beef broth, appropriate meats for the combo pho, and fresh veggies. A sure surprise, but a welcome one, for the Hoboken area. A special paragraph is needed to praise the Vietnamese iced coffee. Having lived much of my adult life in Houston and Dallas where Viet pho shops are as common as halal food is in NYC, I had yet to find good, authentic Viet iced coffee. That is, until now. The color is right, a dark rich brown. The flavor is heavy and strong, just as it's supposed to be. It came out after the food, which is a good sign that it was made fresh and correctly. We've lived in the Weehawken/Hoboken area for a year now, and this place has been the best Pho spot we've found so far. The first time we went we had the Beef Brisket Pho and the Lemon Grass Grilled Pork Vermicelli Bowl. Both of them had generous portions of meat and the broth flavor of the Pho was great. The noodles they used in both bowls were more traditional. we've been to a few other places and either the noodles were too thick or texture wasn't good. The only thing we didn't care for was their Vegetable Spring roll. Its not horrible, but it was Chinese style which we thought it didn't go well with Vietnamese dishes (personal preference). Unfortunately, they don't have normal Vietnamese egg rolls, but that won't keep us from coming back! By far the best Vietnamese spot we've found so far in the area!! read more

I am so impressed - by the food, the service, and especially by the location. This place just opened on Washington, and while location does not guarantee good food, I was so incredibly and pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pho - even though I ordered takeout, which I think speaks volumes vs. eating a meal there. I came in and everyone was so friendly and willing to answer my questions, especially the girl at the counter (I feel like a dumby for not catching her name, she was amazing). I made my own pho, added beef round and brisket, plus extra veggies - it was phenomenal. Honestly, Hoboken needed a place like this where the food is absolutely delicious, the service is quick, and the quality of the food is better than pho I've had in the city.
