T Thai was a happy accidental find during a Friday afternoon in Jersey City, and it turned out to be a great lunch spot! The three of us stopped in during lunch special hours and ordered the Spicy Drunken Noodles, Spicy Thai Fried Rice, and the Mammasan Curry. Every lunch special comes with a small salad topped with peanut dressing and a miniature spring roll, which was a nice bonus for the price. We noticed they didn't automatically provide any sauces, including soy sauce or a dipping sauce for the spring roll. We could have asked, but we were already digging into our meals and decided not to bother. The food was flavorful, well-portioned, and arrived quickly. The lunch specials are an especially good deal at $12 for chicken, tofu, or vegetable dishes and $13 for beef, shrimp, or squid. Even the regular menu prices seemed very reasonable. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and isn't particularly stylish or designed for a special occasion. The back portion of the dining area appears to double as storage space, with boxes and containers visible throughout. That said, the service was friendly and attentive, and the quality of the food more than made up for the simple surroundings. Been a few years since I've been here, so decided to get some lunch before work. Place still looks the same, few tables and chairs. Not much space but it works. Did the steamed Thai dumplings and the Rice Noodles and Broccoli with Chicken. The food is still good, but lacked the oomph factor I used to get from back then. Probably staff changes in the kitchen. Didn't see my old friend there either. The dumplings were ok, guess I'm just spoiled with my Chinatown Dumpling connection. The noodles, same. The service was fine, at the ambiance is 'hole in the wall,' which is fine. the price was slightly on the high side. The food tasted good but the ingredients were skimpy. The presentation was fine, but there were generally a small portion of vegetables and the tofu was cut into huge blocks rather than smaller pieces, and wasn't fried. So this was not a good experience at all... We were visiting friends and family, and found this place to have dinner. The Yelp reviews were decent, so I figured 'why not?' It looks quaint, not flashy, and casual from the outside. Inside it quickly becomes obvious that this is a place that does much more delivery and pickup than in-person dining. My daughter (who lives in NYC) agreed to meet us there. She was skeptical, feeling like we should not have gone there, but she agreed for my sake. I should have listened to my daughter Strike One: we ordered drinks, and I was handed a can of soda, and a decidedly dirty glass... Strike Two: when our apps came, several of the pieces of the tasteless lukewarm calamari were being held tightly together by the hair that as fried along with them. Walked in by myself on a Sunday afternoon. There was one table of two men when I got there. No one else came in while I was dining (except my friend who joined me later). The servers were nice and very prompt. They seated me, provided a menu and came back after about a minute to take my order. My server paid attention to my experience which I appreciated. She grabbed chopsticks when she saw I had some difficulty eating the noodle soup with a fork. I heard the staff speaking another language though I'm not sure if it was Thai. 3/5 Green papaya salad - sauce had a very strong flavor to the point that I worried how much sodium I was ingesting. The ingredients were fresh and the salad was refreshing. 4/5 Tom Yum noodle soup (with chicken) - the broth was oily but tasty. There's a strong taste of lemongrass and lime as well as spice. The soup mainly had chicken, noodles (lots of it), and green onions. Not many ingredients which was disappointing. I am used to Tom Yum soup that has mushrooms, onions, and other veggies in it. Their broth is better than other places though, seemed more authentic and flavorful than many places I've tried in NYC. Just wish it was a little more nutritious. I think the 3-4 star rating on Yelp is pretty accurate. I'd give this a 3.7. Effort was definitely there with the food but lacked a little. I've been going to this restaurant for years, and they've never failed me. Their food is fantastic; always fresh & made from natural ingredients to deliver healthy Asian cuisine. I usually order the fried calamari with a salmon that includes an orange salad. It's a perfect amount to be full, and not leave anything left over. If you have peanut allergies, be wary, because they state that they are not peanut free. Fortunately, they do encourage guests to inform them of any changes that need to be made to accommodate their health. The customer service is warm & friendly, however, their establishment is small compared to most places. It's common to have employees from food delivery services stopping by to pick up things for their own customers; this can be a bit bothersome to people trying to eat. This place is best for an outing with a friend or two, not a huge party. Walked in here yesterday with a few friends. The place looked like a whole in the wall place - but given I have usually tried delivery from this place - I convinced my friends to try it out. We were seated in 10 mins despite a busy day. The food was really great - we ordered a couple of curries, fried rice, noodles and some appetizers. My favorite is always spicy tofu fried rice and it didn't disappoint at all. We had a some issue with one of the dishes, but the staff was lovely to replace it immediately. I ordered through DoorDash $100 worth of food for a dinner party I was hosting. As most of the guests were vegetarian, the bulk of our order was vegetarian. We asked that the curries be made without fish sauce. The restaurant called to say they cannot make without fish sauce - even vegetarian dishes. As a restaurant highlighted on here as having lots of vegetarian options, this was a big disappointment. Nice little hidden gem! Off the main drag of Washington on Hudson. I highly recommend the som tom! The sauce is very fresh and the peanuts are ground and distributed evenly throughout. If you live outside of Hoboken, in Jersey City for example, you should be aware that this Thai restaurant does all of the following with their beyond-Hoboken delivery orders: 1) Fulfills most of them through Uber Eats, which may well send the order to you via a bicycle messenger, not a car delivery person, without disclosing that they are going to do so. If informed upfront about the probability of this delivery method, you would be able to make better decisions about what to order or what not to order, such as cold liquids that might arrive completely warm after 40-minute bicycle delivery trips with one or more stops before yours. 2) Does not tape down either the sides of the drink caps or the straw hole of their soft plastic drink cups for orders that are being conveyed by bicycle. That means some or all of the liquid in the drinks has a high probability of spilling out during transit and leaking all over your floors or carpets. 3) When informed that it is restaurant industry best practices to tape down drink caps and straw holes for delivery orders, acts as if your feedback is irrelevant and will be completely ignored. Manager states "we have no control over that - it's the delivery person's fault." But that's not true at all -- it's the restaurant's responsibility to protect their drink orders and sauces that go out the door in flimsy plastic cups to any bicycle or car delivery person. Simple place, tasty food and service with a smile. Hostess Teeda (I hope i got her name rt) is a bubbly person!!! We tried veg penang curry, veg pad thai and chillipaste+basil veggies. Some very excellent Thai food with huge portions. Some favorites I would definitely recommend: -chicken pad thai -pineapple veggie fried rice -ginger chicken -curry puffs -chilli basil chicken YUM to everything. I loved the cashews mixed with the pineapple in the fried rice. The chicken in all of the dishes was delicious, flavorful, not chewy, just so good. I also loved the sweet sauce that came with the curry puffs and they weren't too deep fried or heavy. And ginger chicken is always my favorite thai dish so I make sure it's part of every order. I am evaluating this from the perspective of a non-fish eater hungry vegetarian, who wanted some thai food. So I understand that many Thai food are prepared with fish or oyster sauce. I wanted to know if there were any food that can be made without the sauces. The waitress was very stern, and said there is only one option, which is a fried rice with vegetables. Our order was delivered before our estimated delivery time, too. - Steamed Thai dumplings: Four dumplings per order, good appetizer size. Steamed perfectly and packed with chicken and veggies! - Chicken pad Thai: I order Pad Thai pretty often and have to say this was an especially flavorful dish. I really hate bland pad thai or one that's heavier on the noodles vs. the chicken and veggies, so this was perfect. I had leftovers for the next day too! - Chicken fried rice: This was the only item that I wasn't crazy about. There were chunks of mushed tomato in the dish, which isn't typical of the fried rice dishes I usually order. My husband liked it, however, so maybe just a personal preference. - Beef with rice noodles and broccoli: My husband ordered this as his main dish and said the beef was perfectly tender and that the sauce was savory without overpowering the dish. The portion sizes are just right, and the quality of the food is top notch. My favorites are the red curry or the sweet and sour chicken. The tofu wasn't that fried skin tofu but more like soft tofu, which I prefer. The veggies like eggplant and bell peppers were perfectly cooked. I only wished there were more veggies but this is a lunch special, mind you. My friends got the pad Thai and ginger sauce lunch specials. I took one bite and knew it didn't taste like chicken. It was flaky like fish, tasted of pork, was fatty and also very chewy. Whatever this is looks extremely undercooked while also tasting tough and rubbery like it was over cooked. I'll let everyone decide what this is cause it is certainly not chicken. Order via Doordash for an early dinner on a rainy Saturday and it arrived in roughly an hour. I had my standard Pad See Ew and X had his standard Pad Thai. We also ordered Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea as well as the cheese puffs. First, the noodles were great. Really good flavor and I love that they used broccoli instead of Chinese broccoli because I actually don't like Chinese broccoli. The cheese puffs were pretty disappointing. They really had no flavor or taste and were not worth the price point. I'd go with a different appetizer next time. I ordered from T Thai today for the first time on DoorDash and I loved it!! The wait time said about 40-50 minutes but it was at my doorstep in 20, which was amazing. Needless to say this place offers fast and efficient service. Here's what I ordered: - Spicy noodle with tofu: 10/10 SO GOOD. It came with a lot of veggies (broccoli, bell peppers, eggplant, carrot, zucchini, etc.) & it's not fried tofu, more like the soft silky kind, which worked really well with the dish. The noodles were so flavorful and delicious. They were spicy, so they definitely live up to the title, but not overwhelmingly. I've previously been to thai restaurants where the food is SO spicy you can't even eat it or enjoy it so I was pleasantly surprised with the balanced spice level of this dish. Also for $13, this dish was HUGE (I can make two meals out of it easily). It was also piping hot and fresh when delivered. Definitely do not miss out on this if you order from here. - Mango salad: 8/10 really good! The mango was fresh, perfect level of ripeness (not too sour or too sweet). It was basically strips of mango, lettuce, tomato, cilantro and onion with some dressing. The dressing was too sweet for my taste, the salad was better with out it. Overall, I'd get it again with the spicy noodles as it offset the spice really well and created a very balanced flavor pallet. Again, for $6, the portion size was huge, I was able to eat it twice. - Fried roll: 9/10! You get 3 rolls and they're just what you would expect, a crispy, flakey spring roll with a warm veggie filling (it tasted like cabbage and carrot to me). The price is $4, and I think it's worth it as a good side dish! All in all, high quality and fresh ingredients were used and the food was delightful. Right now with certain Chase Sapphire Reserve Card, DoorDash delivery fees are waived and this restaurant participates saving me about $6 in delivery fees. I went there yesterday order pineapple fried rice with tofu to go and ask for hot sause on the side thank god! When I got to my destination to eat it it was white rice not fried rice!!!!
