However, when I got home, my roll looked completely different and was wrapped in green lettuce instead. I honestly thought I received the wrong order. When I called the restaurant, the employee immediately knew who I was and apologized, saying they ran out of soy paper and substituted lettuce without informing me beforehand. She also claimed it was "the exact same thing," but soy paper and lettuce are clearly not the same ingredient. They have completely different texture, taste, and presentation. I understand restaurants can run out of ingredients, but customers should absolutely be told before substitutions are made -- especially when the menu specifically advertises soy paper and the dish ends up looking completely different from the photos online. I'm attaching photos of what I received versus what was advertised!

There's plenty of parking though for those who drive there. For the menu, you choose what flavor and what type of noodles. The noodles do come out pretty fresh, so this is nice. There's also a self-serve area to get different condiments for your noodle soup such as different hot sauces, chili oils, perhaps some pickled veggies. This is also good to have. As a fan of intestine noodles, I ordered this the first time I got to Big Boss. It was satisfying! Solid. But for anyone that knows me, I take a lot of stock in a place's beef noodle soup. The next time I went, I tried the braised beef noodle soup. The meat cut was not what I'm used to, the broth is not dark and flavorful as what I'm accustomed to, it was still solid and got the job done and the noodles were fine, but yes this particular dish I'm likely never to order again in future visits - not Big Boss' strength. To be clear, yes I know beef noodle soup can have clear broth. It's just not my thing. And the meat quality wasn't the best, in my humble opinion. I didn't order the bubble teas here because I've learned that usually restaurants that specialize more in the food side of things typically don't have the best bubble teas, so that part I didn't and won't be trying here. Service was fast and friendly. It's super laid-back here, nothing fancy. Verdict? Solid, not spectacular, gets the job done and is in my rotation if you need an Asian noodle fix in Oklahoma City.

They also have a flat noodle dish that I've seen people order, but the few times I tried to order it myself, they would be out of it! Anyway, I ordered three appetizers, all things that my kids normally love (especially from places like Szechuan Bistro): - Fried Egg Rolls - Crab Rangoon - Fried Dumpling The problem from the outset was that I could tell that the oil used to deep fry the food was clearly not hot enough when the items were dropped in. In all fairness to HCK, I walked in and placed the order right when they opened the doors (we weren't in a rush though, we didn't pressure them to get the stuff to use sooner or anything). But because of the oil not being hot enough, everything was greasy, soggy, and barely hot (temperature wise). The only item of the three that was actually good (in terms of flavor; they were all room temp despite having just come out of the deep fryer) where my kids finished them, was the Fried Dumplings. The Fried Egg Rolls were according to my son, "chopped" which... hold, I have to google this Gen Alpha nonsense, I dunno what it means. Okay, I'm back. "Chopped" means "undesirable." But I understood what he meant because as soon as I bit into it, I made a face. It tasted spoiled. But my tolerance is higher than his for sub-par food, so I ended up eating it anyway. But by far, the worst thing was the Crab Rangoon. I've never had a Crab Rangoon that was equal parts burnt AND undercooked. Somehow, it managed to be hot AND cold, crumbly AND mealy (it was almost like cannoli dough or something?), tough/crunchy on the outer edges AND super soft and soggy in the middle. It is legitimately the worst Crab Rangoon we've ever eaten. Awful in every way.
