Absolute gem. It's as authentic as pho I've tasted over in CA & TX. It was really good, and the prices are on point also. Huyen the owner was amazing to talk to, and it made our trip out to St. Louis much better! Vietnamese coffee was also amazing with the salted milk he uses. They use the Cafe Monde, which he stated is the closest thing to the authentic Vietnamese coffee beans. It was such a pleasure, and even though I was just visiting, I had to drop this 5 star review. I came here for their special menu - Bun Cha Ha Noi. Other family members ordered G1. Mien Ga and Pho Chin Nam with seared beef belly on the side. Everything was delicious. Service was quite slow, but pleasant. We did wait about 45 minutes for our order. Food was delicious, unfortunately they are not generous with their meat in the pho. Counted 5 pieces of meat, I'm assuming one would hope for a couple more pieces when paying almost $16 per bowl. Fried chicken was nice and flavorful. Thai tea was good but it was filled with too much ice. The service was a little bit slow, more than 20 minutes to get the appetizer in but overall the entire staff was kind and friendly. I was craving pho so I decided to come here on a weekend lunch. Side note: I love how many pho restaurants there are in St. Louis. We were seated immediately and had our order taken as well; however, it took them almost an hour for our food to arrive so we were kind of off to a poor start (-1 star). I ordered the Pho Tai Chin Nam which had both rare and well-done beef. I think mine only had well-done beef but that was okay. I actually really liked the broth as it had a strong beef flavor. I did think the beef was a little bit too chewy but it went very well with the sriracha and hoisin sauce. Honestly, I would say this is probably the second or third best pho in St. Louis after Truc Lam. Overall, not a bad place to eat at all. We've passed this place many times and have often said we should try it out but the curb appeal just wasn't there. Well we finally stopped for dinner before going to Stray Dog. WOW! What a pleasant surprise. The inside is totally different and very inviting. The server was friendly and helpful. They have so many renditions of Pho I can't remember them all. I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. Hearty, tasty and loaded. BUT, don't pass up the spring rolls. They are outstanding. Everything is priced well and service was great. Lovely place to enjoy a delicious pho. Noodles in broth is taken to a much higher level here. The flavors are rich and complex. Make sure to add in as many of the add ons that you can when the pho arrives steaming hot. The fresh herbs and flavors will add additional depth to the flavors of the soup. We had a delightful waitress, Marissa. She was attentive and provided for us quickly when we needed additional drinks or a take home container. A few notes: the bathroom needs more care. While acceptable to use, more attention could be paid to keeping it tidy. There is some outside dining available in front and on the south side of the building. The area in front is right next to the busy and often noisy, Grand Avenue. The side patio is in desperate need of care. This area may actually belong or shared with the Chinese restaurant next door. This is the PLACE!!! EVERYTHING WE GET HERE IS DELICIOUS! Ok, so first we've been here like 4 times, and we've always had a fast and friendly greeting. The place is always clean. They're always very thankful for the business. Which makes it even better because their food is so freaking good. The Pho broth is deep and rich. I really like their meatballs in the everything Pho, but nothing is better than the Oxtail Pho.They're not stingy with the oxtails, oxtail, meat is juicy and tender and full of flavor. The spring rolls are summer rolls are excellent, but my youngest LOVES their gyoza and will try to eat 2 servings by herself. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out. Pho is the one thing i eat all the time. Living in Houston I've tried many authentic Vietnamese restaurants so I'm usually disappointed when i travel to certain states/cities which lack Vietnamese authenticity. Someone suggested this was the best pho in the area. I was extremely disappointed. The pho broth was BLAND. Egg rolls BLAND. Chicken spring rolls EXTRA BLAND. Even the fish sauce was made weird and not balanced well. The chicken in the spring rolls should be lemon grass however it was literally shredded chicken without a lick of seasoning. I was so looking forward to eating my favorite soup but this place was not it for me. Once you eat authentic pho your whole life it's hard to eat at any hipster place because it just doesn't hit the same. Upon entering the restaurant we were not greeted or sat in a timely manner. It was not crazy busy and there were plenty of open seating. I had to walk up to someone to ask to be seated after being looked at but never spoken to. I'm very surprised by all of the positive reviews here on the food, but my thoughts is they just don't know any better. They moved a little east on Olive and we finally made it there. We liked the updated look of the new place. We were very surprised by the updated prices though. Wow! We almost got up and left, but thought about all the rising costs of things and stayed. The food was very good. It was just like before. Our take away is this. We used to be regulars there before the move. Now, on a rare occasion will we spend that much for Pho. It was very good, but with as many great restaurants as there are, with prices that also offer food or better values than what we found here, we will not be coming back very often. As there are other Pho places around, and we know that they have good food, we will be very selective about when we will return. See what you think. read more
