Rice Platter
Erica S.

Easy parking lot close to the restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I noticed plenty of indoor seating. The bathroom was clean and ambiance is good. My boyfriend and I ordered the following and this was my rating on each: - Spring Rolls: 3/5 - Chicken Dumpling Soup: 5/5 - Pho with Brisket: 4/5 - Rice Platter: 4/5 The service was fast, but we were also the only ones at the restaurant at the time. Our server was very kind and checked on us frequently.

The veggie pho is the dish of choice every time I visit! I love the veggie meat and tofu in it along with the vegetables. Quite a few tables were left not clean when choosing a place to sit, but it was not busy. There is a parking lot on the side of the building, so no problems there!

Pho Dac Biet ($17.99)

The pho here is fine, not mind-blowingly good or anything but will satisfy a craving. But I feel this way about most of the pho I find around STL. I struggled to find any information about Pho Long's menu or hours online for the UCity location. It's $17.99 for a bowl of pho dac biet, $14.99 for one of the more basic bowls. Two spring rolls (goi cuon) will set you back $7.99, which pains me to write. I don't know if the drastic increase in prices is due to inflation, the costco development, the new location's rent, or all of these factors... Service was very bare-bones. I wanted to take pictures of the menu for Yelp, but the server took them away very quickly. Pho broth came out hot. You get all the standard garnishes. The interior is spacious, not a lot of decorations. Chopsticks are the disposable kind.

I came to see if the food was still as good as before they moved just down the street. Arrived around lunch time and there was very few people inside. You can sit anywhere you want and menu and water will be brought out to your table. Ordered Pho and it was no where close to impress me. The prices have gone up a lot and I personally feel like the quality isn't matching to the price at all. Portions are small and the Pho brought was just average. The parking lot isn't great if you have a big vehicle. I do like the decorations now better but they have a long way to go if they want to attract more customers.

Fried chicken dumplings

Went there for a team lunch. It has ample seating. One thing we noticed is the server is not very conversational. Not sure whether that's a cultural thing or he really hates his job. . We ordered fried chicken dumplings and the special pho in beef broth. Nothing to complain other than the price and I'm not sure whether that's because of Costco and rent. One thing I noticed is they have chicken soup noodles (chicken broth ) an alternative to beef broth which is not common in most of the Vietnamese restaurants. Will come back as a team or if I've a craving for pho.

i traveled 20 minutes from the STL airport via Uber to eat here, and being disabled I also travel with my fully trained service dog. I was "greeted"?by the manager who told me I couldn't eat there with my service animal. I calmly told him it's against Missouri statute to deny me service because I require a service animal. He still refused. Their prices were so high, I was better off going elsewhere anyhow. People with service animals avoid this "restaurant" to avoid embarrassment. so long, pho long!

Pho was average...like the reviews not impressive but still good. The dry pho was much better tho and the spring rolls were great!

Food, service, ambiance, prices on point. My only complaint is the time between closing for lunch and opening for dinner.

I came to Mai Lee with my cousin after reading about the restaurant in the book Matt's St. Louis…read moreFood Story, learning that it got national recognition when it was tapped as a semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurant by the James Beard Foundation. The expectation was high, and the restaurant delivered outstanding marks. The menu was huge (over 300 items) and we had no idea what to eat. No worries, the daughter of the proprietor, Sarah, was our server and without rushing, she thoughtfully asked questions to narrow down our options to the items she believed we would really like. She was very friendly and her recommendations hit the spot. I ordered a Banh Me Thit (56) and a Com Tom Thit Trung (74). The Banh Me had very fresh bread and I enjoyed every bite. The Com Tom Thit Trung was very good, just what I expected. Throughout our meal, Sarah would stop by to check on us and we also chatted about the restaurant and its' history (since I saw an article in St. Louis Magazine framed to the wall). One of my rules-of-thumb of good hospitality at a restaurant is if leftovers are boxed up for you. At the end of the meal, Sarah's brother cleared the table and boxed up the food. If you want authentic food with great service backed by a rich storyline with 40 years of history in St. Louis, check out Mai Lee!

When you walk in you are always greeted with a smile. The seating is quite close but not so close you cannot walk through. Tables and booths. Very clean and well kept. Your order can be family style or individual. Family style allows you to share tea and big serving bowls of soups. Now for the good stuff. The menu is varied with authentic or Americanized "Asian" stirfry and egg rolls. The Pho is outstanding! My goodness, the flavors of the broth, with added ingredients from chicken and beef to vegetarian. What brings it home are the side dishes of flavor bombs they serve along side: jalapeños, bean sprouts, and Thai basil. Add it to the soup and the noodles seem to envelope it all with an explosion of flavor as you slurp even to the last drop. And grab those last leaves or noodles with your chopsticks. It's worth every bite. I highly recommend Mai Lee, as it is at the top of our all-time favorites list.

I knew they don't take reservations and won't seat an incomplete party, but I still got there a little early just to see if we could grab a table for five. I was surprised (in a good way) when they seated me before everyone else arrived. I even told the hostess I didn't mind waiting, but she encouraged me to go ahead and sit, which was really nice. Our server was super friendly and made sure I was taken care of while I waited. As my friends started arriving, he was quick to get them settled in too. We started with some non-alcoholic drinks and spent some time chatting before diving into the menu. It was honestly hard to pick just one thing, so I went with both the chicken pho and fried rice. I knew I wouldn't finish it all, but I really wanted both. Once we ordered, everything moved smoothly--our server checked in, made sure drinks were filled, and kept things organized. When the food came out, everything looked amazing and tasted just as good. Of course, with all the catching up we were doing, it took us a while to finish, but there was no rush at all. When we were ready, he brought the checks and was more than happy to split them out (always appreciate that!). Before leaving, I ordered a to-go meal for my husband and asked for a box for my leftovers. Our server actually took my plate and packed everything up in the back, which I wasn't expecting but really appreciated. He also brought out the to-go order right when it was ready. Honestly, everything, from the space to the service to the food, was just great. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon.

Love the new cocktail bar they added. It take away some seating however people can eat at bar too. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table which took only a few minutes. My husband tried their version of an old-fashioned which used both bourbon and rum!!! It was good but he said definitely a "sipper". They have a full bar and much better wine selection now too. Starters for us were a bowl of wonton soup and the spring rolls. Both were good but rolls a little rubbery to me. The highlight of our meals was charbroiled pork. We are not capable of ordering anything else. Ha. I get 15.04 and he got 15.03 which includes an egg roll. Divine food!! The people who own this place are so friendly. Our waiter was also very nice. We can't wait to return

I dropped in on a Saturday evening and ordered the **Shroomed Up** ramen, and it was a ramen masterclass in a bowl. The broth managed to be incredibly rich and deeply savory-sweet all at once, without ever feeling heavy. It was loaded with thick, substantial slabs of mushrooms, tender-cooked bok choy, and the noodles were the star of the show--thick and perfectly cooked to that ideal sweet spot where they aren't too chewy but have zero mushiness. Even with a line stretching out the door when we arrived, the wait wasn't tedious, and we reached the counter reasonably fast. The ordering process is standard counter service, but the staff member who took our order was incredibly nice, polite, and helpful, practically predicting my questions as I was looking over the menu. The same employee even brought our bowls out to us. The space was definitely crowded for a weekend night, but the seat-yourself setup worked out perfectly for the two of us; we still had three tables to choose from. The interior has a great energy with fun, East-Asian and Japanese-themed decor lining the walls. The Breakdown Food Quality: 5+/5 + Service: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Vibe: 4/5 Quality/Value: 4/5 **Pro Tip:** Don't let a Saturday evening line out the door scare you off! The counter service team moves people through the queue efficiently, and if you are dining in a small group of two, the table turnover is quick enough that you'll still easily find a spot to sit down.
