Heard a lot of good things and finally got to stop by and try it for ourselves! Interior is nice, with lots of seating! Because it's a bigger place, you don't feel packed in and actually have some room to relax. Ordering is easy and done at the front counter. The menu is on TVs over the counter or on laminated cards. Wish they had more pictures of the different options, as there were lots of interesting sounding choices! After you order, you find a table and they bring the food out. The tables needed attention when we were there, as many had crumbs and needed a wipe down. Food came out quickly and looked very nice. Tasted even better! DD Mau is a bright, newly relocated restaurant in the old Weber Front Row Grill location in Webster Groves. I ordered at the counter the 6 piece crab Rangoon, bowl of pho with brisket and a Thai iced tea for dine in. I ordered takeout for my boyfriend the spicy combination lo mein and crab Rangoon. My food was served piping hot and the Thai iced tea was so refreshing! Crab Rangoon were large and enough to share. The pho was delicious; nicely spiced and not salty. I haven't had pho with brisket before and I liked the flavor. Large bowl led to a take home container. I like the bright colors and sleek design of the restaurant. This resturant seems like it should be wonderful, but after several visits I'd have to rate the food as a B-minus. The setting is pleasant, its semi-self serve in that you order at a counter, pick up utensils and water, then the food is brought to your table. They need to up their game - better sauces, be sure the salmon is not dried out, that the shrimp spring roll is not rubbery so that you cannot chew it easily, bring the whole order out to the table in one delivery so that our party of four could eat together, etc. I hope they will improve because I love Vietnamese food but for now my wife says "I'm not going back there." read more

I got the Chicken Lo Mein. The portions are HUGE here. The noodles were cooked well (al dente) and there was a lot of chicken for the portion. I did find it a little bland though. I found that better after I added some of the sauce that was available at the front counter (it was not labeled though, so I'm not sure what it was called). So excited for the new location! The new Webster Groves location is beautiful and much more spacious than the previous store. We came on the day after the grand opening and it was great to see it so busy. We have frequented DD Mau for about 3 years now so it's great to see the growth! I ordered the new Lo Mein with vegan chicken and the veggie egg rolls. The veggie egg rolls always hit and the new Lo Mein is amazing! My favorite will always be the fried rice but this is a close second. I also highly recommend the vegan lemongrass soup to warm you up on a cold day! First time here. Wow this building sure has changed from what it was the sports bar. It's so bright and cheery and airy! We ordered crab Rangoon's for the table and I ordered one of the chicken bowls. It was very tasty. It had the peanut sauce on it. I did have to go up and ask for a second peanut sauce so I guess that was a good sign that it was good lol. It was definitely a filling meal. One of the guest with us ordered the tofu fried rice. There was so much fried rice in the bowl. He hardly made a dent in it. The rice was basically just rice and it looked like onions, no vegetables and it just the tofu. Their service was impressive. You did go up and order the fridge yourself and they brought it out to you. They brought each person's food out separately so you got it while it was hot. The only bad thing about that is you were stuck with the food in front of you and you felt bad eating before your other table guest. I had never tried DD Mau until this week, shocking right? We moved to Arizona when this place opened up in 2018, and we just recently moved back and realized they are still in Webster Groves, but are in an updated location. Let me tell you, the location is excellent! It's a bit hard to find parking, but the interior is extremely spacious and well-decorated. This place was packed when we arrived. The cashier was not very friendly or helpful with suggestions, but I appreciated that the menu and sauce list had descriptions. We decided to split the Pork Bao Buns, the Chicken Fried Rice, and the Meatball Pho. There are plenty of seasonings, sauces and utensils available, along with 2 types of water, at the self serve bar along the main wall. The food wasn't extremely impressive, sadly, but it wasn't bad by any means. The best item was the Pork Bao Sliders, they were delicious. The pork was tender and the buns were sweet and soft. The second best was the Chicken Fried Rice. It had that awesome browned flavor that STL is known for, but it was just a bit too greasy and salty to be fantastic. The worst item was the Meatball Pho. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good compared to other Phos I've tried in the area. Would we come back? Sure. Not tomorrow, not next week, but maybe sometime in the next few months. They have employees clearing and cleaning tables and making sure the patrons have received their food. I had the pho with rare steak. It was very good. It would improve the pho if more toppings were offered. The lime was provided was dried out. The basil and jalapeño were inadequate for the size of the bowl. We phone it in from the road and pick it up hot and fresh before we even get home. Frankly, it's all we really want when we don't know what to eat (travel or not). We dine at plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants (along with Thai, Korean, Chinese and Taiwanese) so I believe we're qualified to compare St. Louis' Asian offerings. While DD might not have the largest menu, it's a variety of well-executed favorites: beef, chicken and vegan pho, banh mi sandwiches, fresh springs rolls (the shrimp rolls are excellent), crispy Vietnamese egg rolls, fried rice, vermicelli bowls with a choice of protein and sauces, and more. Something for everyone. Well-seasoned and a lot of it. I'm partial to the pho combo with a surprising amount of meat. My wife is stuck on the vermicelli bowls and vegan lemon grass soup. Prices are very reasonable, too. We've been fans of DD since they opened in Old Dwntwn Webster about eight years ago and are delighted with the new location on Big Bend near Webster U. Big, bright, contemporary space. Great for families. And a good place for kids to try their first Vietnamese food. I was sick a couple weeks ago and DoorDash from DD Mau changed the game for me! I ordered the chicken pho with a side order of spring rolls. The portion of the pho was MASSIVE. It lasted me two meals! The vermicelli noodles were fresh along with the herbs. The chicken and broth were wrapped well for transport and tasted incredible. Spring rolls were also delicious. I have been meaning to get here for a while because I've been told it's incredibly easy to navigate gluten. They were right! Everything is labeled so it's completely fool proof to order a gluten free meal! Sauces are labeled and the staff knows all of the things about gluten right off the top of their head. The shrimp pho was really delightful. It was served SUPER hot so I did have to wait almost twenty minutes before I could eat it but it was delightful and such an enormous portion - fed me for two full meals.
