Our visit was during a rainstorm and the only thing (outside of our kitchen) that we wanted was pho! DD Mau is located in a small strip mall, with lots of parking. They have doors to get through and lots of seating inside. We ordered at the counter, got out table number, and got the high chair for our toddler. The order came out quickly and I got some condiments (hoisin and sriracha) at the service counter. We ordered beef pho and shrimp lo mein, along thai iced tea and matcha milk tea. The drinks were okay! I could barely taste any matcha and it was very milk forward. I think the thai had a better flavor so I would opt for that next time. But food wise, absolutely loved the pho and that it came with fresh mint, bean sprout, and jalapeno. I also loved the broth! Dropped in the Webster Groves restaurant Friday. I didn't know what to expect when we arrived other than Vietnamese food. The place was jumpin'. Parking was an issue in the small lot but we managed to find a spot. It's basically a carry out restaurant with a LARGE, open dining area with a lot of tables. Grab a table and then stand in line to place your order. We sat, looking bewildered and looking up the menu online. Then a food runner/busser/liaison came to our table to help. She was wonderful, and frankly, made our visit. She brought us menus, explained the process, answered questions, while being as friendly and helpful as can be. I wish I knew her name because she deserves a raise. The menu is Vegan and non-Vegan and consists of Fried Rice, Bowls, Sliders & Rolls, Banh Mi, Snacks, Pho, Lo Mein, Tacos, Drinks, & Sweets. Once in-the-know, we placed our order. We each ordered Shrimp Spring Rolls, I ordered the Combo protein Pho, and she ordered the Seafood Lo Mein. At first the prices seemed a little high, but the portions made up for it. After placing our order we returned to our table and put our order number in the holder on the table. The Spring Rolls were good and could be better with a bit more crunch and flavor. They offer various dipping sauces. What we got was a creamy vinaigrette, which was a bit sweet for my taste. I should have gone with a traditional sweet chili sauce. The seafood Lo Mein was really delicious. We balanced with vegetables and a nice portion of mixed seafood. A real winner. The Combo Pho was good as well. The broth was rich with layered flavors and deep flavor. It can with a lime wedge (1), Thai basil, a couple of fresh jalapeno slices, and bean sprouts. I would have liked a little spice for my Pho but it was still very good. We took home the left-overs and had a complete lunch the next day. All in all a good visit. Good food and friendly help. a little pricy but where isn't these days. There is enough value to make up for it. We plan to return a couple more times to try other dishes. We love DD Mau in our family! It has really become our go to whenever we just want to eat something that we all love and want to feel completely satisfied. Their menu is great and offers a wide variety of choices so everyone can find their perfect meal. When we go we like to get the Chicken Salad Bowl with Thai Chili and a Combo Vermicelli Bowl with either the peanut sauce or the vinegarette, and almost always make sure to get an order of the Thai Chili wings to share.... These are so good! Perfectly crisp and the chicken is seasoned just how it should be(they are definitely in my top 3 ever for chicken) The pho is awesome as well and everyone raves about their broth.... But I would love if they had some size choices besides large. This is best eaten in restaurant, but they are great about packaging the pho to go and it usually works fine. Place can get busy and sometimes depending on the crowd can get louder, but the service is fast and everyone is really friendly. Also I love the display screen showing all the food options that plays while you eat so you can see what else you can get! Oh almost forgot! They recently added a ton of drinks to choose from and I have had the green tea matcha w strawberry and I think we did a passion fruit tea... both were great and not too pricey! I've been wanting to check this place out for a long time and decided today would finally be the day. Unfortunately, this visit left more to be desired. I decided to get the rice bowl with chicken and shrimp, and an order of veggie spring rolls. I chose the Vietnamese vinaigrette sauce for my bowl but was met with shock and disappointment that I had to pay to get sauce for my spring rolls! I stuck with water (at the moment) and after everything was said and done, my total came to $26 and that wasn't even including a tip. I was given a number and I sat at the table of my choice. My rolls came out first in this little basket. They were just what I needed. My bowl came next but sadly it was not what I was expected. It was covered in vegetables (while not necessarily a bad thing, it's not what I wanted). I was expecting the rice, egg, and protein. Also, I was expecting the sauce to be mixed in, not to be in a bag where I'd have to mix in myself. To be frank, that was off putting. After paying almost $30.00, I wasn't about to let it go to waste. The chicken was just ok. Some pieces didn't look very appetizing and overall, it lacked flavor. The shrimp was pretty good but that's it. While I was eating, I looked in their drink section and saw they had Loverboy. Hoping to give me some sign of life, I got the Strawberry Lemonade. The only thing I don't like about this place is how hard it is to choose an entree!! For this visit I went with the beef pho. You can eat and eat and eat and still have plenty to take home for leftovers. I love using all the bean sprouts, basil, and lemon to top...YUM. My other go-to orders is the noodle bowl with shrimp. To add insult to injury there wasn't even extra!! Had I not looked at my bf receipt I would have never noticed the charge and if I knew there was a charge I def would have complained how "extra" was not provided. When I arrived home my order contained steak fried rice and crab rangoon. I called the restaurant, to advised I received the incorrect order. The manager suggested I come back to get the correct order. I advised I live 25 minutes away. I don't eat meat so therefore I didn't eat the steak fried rice. I visited the restaurant 1 week later to place my original order. I checked my order before leaving. The shrimp fried rice was greasy the crab rangoon were greasy and old as if they were left over. We went there on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch. We ordered chicken rice bowl , chicken Vermicelli bowl and pho with rare steak. There is no major difference expect the vermicelli bowl has spring rolls and crushed peanuts vs egg. Both dishes are well balanced with veggies and chicken so that you won't feel like rice or vermicelli is overpowering. Pho, steak cooked because of the pho heat which is expected. Very flavorful. I also had a Vietnamese coffee which I don't have a picture. It will be coffee , condensed milk and ice. Kind of rich and not too sugary. Definitely will keep you up for a while. Overall, nice place. I ordered the pho to-go recently because my little toddler loves pho so much. Unfortunately, I was unable to feed this to her because the broth was almost inedible this time. It was way salty and unfortunately tasted completely artificial as if it was made from the instant pho powder. Furthermore, I had refrigerated the broth and there was zero gelatinization of the broth - so I am highly doubting that the pho is currently being cooked from scratch with actual beef bones. The restaurant is fast casual style where you order at the counter and the food is brought to you. The menu is set up in a way that makes ordering very easy. I also liked that they also had some pictures of the different types of food for those unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine. I enjoyed my pork vermicelli bowl and shrimp spring rolls.
