I wanted seafood pho because I was sick. Le's was underwhelming so I decided to try Pho N Rice. I ordered with foodler. The minimum for delivery is $10. Tom Cua (seafood noodle soup) with added vegetables was enough to meet the minimum. The delivery fee was only $2. It smelled delicious when it arrived. The seafood was not overcooked even though it was delivery! It was heavy on the onion, which is fine with me. It was more flavorful and had more seafood than Le's had. It was a better value than Le's and tastier too. I would order it again. They did not include utensils or napkins (or fortune cookies). I was at home so that didn't matter to me, but if I were in a hotel or something I would have been super upset. read more

Just got delivery from them again today. The Country pad thai was pretty good, but what's even better is that if you upgrade the meat to crispy chicken for $1, they give you A LOT of chicken. The top of my pad thai box was practically covered in chicken. As for the beef over rice I ordered (Com bo), it was basically 50% rice 40% veggies and 10% meat, AVOID AVOID. 4 stars just for the crispy chicken upgrade. read more

Ripoff. Plain and simple. I have no idea how people call this cheap. The profit margin on their dishes must be enormous because every single time i've ordered from here i've gotten about $1.50 worth of meat or seafood in my 9.95 pho. Considering broth and noodles are about .50 cents, that leaves them with a nice 75% profit on this dish. Boyfriend got his 9.95 steamed veggies and tofu and there was barely any tofu in it (the only thing that costs anything). Mind you it's 7.95 for the main dish, $1.00 for the addition of white rice (doesn't that usually come with most dishes?) and another dollar for the addition of SAUCE. Having worked in the restaurant buisness I can tell you that dish probably cost $1.50 to make with their lack of ingredients. 5.95 got me 6 tiny shumai, only a buck a pop for something the size of a nickel! Awful. I should have learned my lesson and just ordered from Le's (their seafood noodle soup costs 7.50 and I get more than twice the seafood than this crappy place) It should be noted that after I wrote my first bad review I was contacted by the owner asking me to mention the review when I ordered the next time and she would give me my order for free. I didn't do that because obviously then they are going to make you the BEST PHO EVER in hopes you will come back on here and amend your review. Not gonna happen. We went there yesterday for the first time and although the outside doesn't look very promising, this place was pretty good. Nothing too fancy but nice enough to warrant eating there rather than takeout. The service was fast and no nonsense. The waitress handled it well when our toddler knocked over a large glass of water. The appetizer of fresh spring rolls with tofu was average nothing special. The tofu was fried which I don't like. But the main dish the vegetarian noodle soup was very good. Tasty, fresh veggies, just all around yummy. Someone else got the beef noodle soup and he liked that as well. On par with Pho Pasteur, but maybe a bit cheaper.The limeade was good- very very tart! Having lived in Hawaii for over six years, I'm used to a good selection of quality asian foods. I had a hankering for pho so my girlfriend and I ordered vegetarian pho (with vegetarian broth, tofu, and vegetables), vegetarian gyoza, vegetables with rice, and Thai iced tea via Foodler. The "broth" for the pho was, I'm pretty sure, just water with maybe 8 cubes of soft tofu drifting around in the bottom. The noodles were clumped together, the vegetables were undercooked, there was a tiny sprig of basil and a discolored lime slice....overall it was a totally disappointing pho experience. I've paid less for much better vegetarian pho. They completely forgot to give us the white rice we had paid for, meaning that my girlfriend was given a plate of vegetables to eat. She ended up having to cook some noodles for herself to supplement her $11.00 vegetables. What really brought this down to a one star review was the gyoza. I had pointedly ordered "vegetarian" gyoza which the Foodler menu had described as being filled with vegetables. Being a lifelong vegetarian and not being familiar with different meats, I had already eaten some before realizing that the texture seemed off. It turned out that the gyoza was filled with pork. This was annoying enough. What was worse was that, when we called, the woman on the phone tried to say that we'd ordered the pork gyoza and that we must not have specified what we wanted. We pulled up the confirmation email which explicitly stated that we'd ordered the vegetarian option. The woman agreed to refund us after finally accepting that they'd made a mistake. She asked our address and then muttered something about money back and hung up the phone. All in all, even if the order had been all correct, I would've felt like we'd wasted $40 on bad food. Since this just happened, we have yet to find out if they actually refund us. If they don't, they'll definitely hear from us again which is the only reason they will hear from us. We won't be wasting money there again. read more

My friend and I went to Pho and Rice last night because I saw it in Boston Magazine's "Boston Best" Cheap Eats. I'm kinda broke right now so this appealed to me and I expected a great Asian meal. The meal was just a little better than ok. I had dinner and not pho or a rice dish but the service was absolutely abyssmal. Each dish, 3 appetizers and 2 entrees, came separately with about 20 mins to 30 mins between each! It was crazy bad service and the food was just luke warm each time it came out. I was there for about 2 hours or more and really wish I gone across the street to Zoe's Chinese which I know is great. I would go back just for pho or a rice dish which is probably easier for their kitchen to handle. so if you're going for a meal beware, but if you just want a great bowl of Asian soup, they can probably deal with that, I suppose. read more

I somehow left my wallet there last night. I didn't notice until tonight, which gave me an excuse to return, this time with my 11 year old. As soon as we walked in, he said, ooh, it's home. It is cozy (maybe 10 tables), clean, soothing lighting, Jamie Lancaster playing softly. The service is excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. The seafood pho is delicious and generous. The tofu/veggie also nice but seems comparatively not as good a deal. They can make the veggie broth without MSG and will substitute it for the seafood broth. My son was pleased with the avocado bubble tea which was basically a green frappe with tapioca balls. So good. After dinner you can pop into Petsi Pies right next door and get a yummy desert to go. And extra points for taking good care of my wallet. read more

Since I moved to Boston a few years ago, I've whined a bit too much about the lack of good Thai. Most places are bad Chinese dressed up in Thai fixings. My partner and I love this place! We get takeout regularly - my favorite is the pad see ew and his is the pineapple fried rice. I suspect/hope they use extremely high-quality products for the prices they charge and the portions you get. I usually order the chili duck, which is phenomenal, but they didn't have it tonight (perhaps the duck fought back?). So, I opted for the caramelized fish (salmon). I don't know if it's supposed to come with more than a few chunks of fish and some slivers (literally, slivers) of two vegetables, but that's what I got. It was tasty, but quite small, which I hope means they gave me the lunch, not the dinner portion. Although I was charged for the dinner portion... The calamari and crab rangoon are reliable, but again not a lot for the price. I have to agree with Keri M.'s 4.14.11 review about whether this is a questionable practice. Service was awful... The waitress had the poorest attitude and was extremely rude. We gave her the benefit of the doubt and assumed she was having a bad day however the way she treated us was horrible. Food was good and portions sizes were pretty normal. We dined in so that might be why our sizes were bigger. If you want good Vietnamese food but you're willing to be yelled at by your own waitress, this is the place for you. If I could put zero stars, I would. An HOUR AND A HALF to deliver, and then when I got it, it was DIY Pho. Noodles, broth, vegetables etc all were separate and you assemble it yourself. And, having asked for medium spice there was zero spice what so ever to it. Avoid. read more

Other than the location being a little tough to get to, this place is awesome! Really flavorful pho with tons of soft, melt-in-your-mouth meat, probably the best I've had in Boston (outside of hiking out to Dorchester). The Vietnamese iced coffee was nice and strong as well. Solid haunt. read more

Coconut Bubble Tea + Fried Calamari + the chicken and rice plate = pretty much all I need when I'm sick. The pho isn't super great: the chicken is often pretty dry and bland. The meatballs have an odd sqeaky texture and sort of gross me out. The add-ins, though, are fresh and crunchy and all varieties of soup are super affordable with pretty big portions. I stick with the meat and rice, though. And the fried calamari is golden-browned and perfectly tender and it comes with a sweet, pinkish-orange sauce that's pretty much the greatest thing ever. read more

This is not the best or cheapest pho I've ever had, but when I'm in the mood they're quick and it fits the bill. I've only ever eaten beef pho from here (which is yummy enough to satiate my cravings), so I'm not sure on any of the other dishes. I've ordered here probably four or five times, haven't had any negative experiences. Food is generally on time, and the portions have been fairly big every time I've ordered. If you go to the location they have daily specials on the board. I recommend the curry pho. Tasty tasty. read more

I really really want to like this place, the servers are sweet, the prices are great and its the only Vietnamese spot in Cambridge (beside Le's which I dont like) but everytime I eat here Im a little grossed out by the amount of oil that the food is covered with, and Im a girl that LOVES bone marrow, pork belly and the like. I came here because I didnt want to deal with parking in Harvard square for Le's one day (parking ban during "snow emergency"). As I walked in, I felt dissapointed by the entryway and almost left (I'm judgemental about atmosphere, sorry) but I decided to stay anyways. The seating area is small but pleasant and there were some nice touches so i warmed up to it. Especially after my food came out and everything was amazing! I got a curry, my husband had pho, we also had a couple appetizers. Everything was really flavorful, the sauces were all thick and delicious. I like it just as much as Le's now and not having to deal with Harvard square is a huge plus. Definitely would reccomend you give it a shot, really good. read more

I was very excited to try this place after all the positive Yelp reviews, but I'd should have been more wary. I tried the Beef Macadamia lunch combo today for takeout lunch on a snowy day. The upside, plenty of food for about $8, but, i left feeling like i could have made the dish myself, with less salt, and been more satisfied. Also, I know it's a new place, so maybe the takeaway kinks willbe worked out, but my crispy roll was soggy beause it was in the same box as the salad and the dumpling. Good dumpling though. I got extra veggies, so I paid 8.95 for about a gallon of broth, a few veggies and a shred of chicken.
