I was nice enough to say hello (didn't say hello back).she told me to go sit down right away while she was eating with her mouth open (like I'm a dog). Great little pho spot! Both visits I ordered P1, regular size. The broth flavor stayed consistent. I was visiting from Vegas, and we have plenty of pho spots, but this one definitely measured up to my expectations. The regular is a good size. The large takes somebody with a big appetite. This is literally the only Vietnamese restaurant in all of Niceville, FL area. No it's not super authentic since they have to cater to local tastes since majority of people like have never had actual Vietnamese pho or know what it means on the menu. Just listening to the patrons ordering at the tables next to us it was clear. With the limited ingredients available in the region this is the best you get for some hot pho noodles. Yeah this is not like Little Saigon in LA. We started with the spring rolls which comes with two rolls with the rice paper wrapped with a small amount of vermicelli, filled with shredded lettuce, and finally topped with halved shrimps and paired with the spring roll dipping sauce. The best part was the dipping sauce. It's at least got the peanut/hoisin ratio down. But yeah its more like eating a shrimp lettuce wrap. Pho Tai: There are no choice of bowl size so everything is like a large bowl size. The rice noodles were slightly overcooked so limp instead of chewy. The most important component the soup base you can taste was likely from powder and not from bone broth since it lacked any depth. But yeah the thin slice raw beef portions were great for all the hungry local Air Force patrons. Your side veggies were the bean sprouts, lemon wedge, basil leaves, a few sliced jalapeno. Yeah you'll definitely be full but you may not satisfy your palate. Seafood Noodles: This was a mixture of likely frozen seafood. There was imitation crab meat, shrimp, some cooked sliced beef served with egg noodles instead again in a large size bowl. Your side veggie however comes with bean sprouts, lemon wedge, cilantro and sliced jalapeno. It's pretty much a fast casual dining place just giving the locals a taste of Vietnamese food. Pho Nguyen probably meets all your standards. But my fellow Vietnamese friends, if you're visiting Destin and excited to find a good Viet place, just know this place does not serve authentic Vietnamese food. My honest rating would probably be 1 star just because of the very nice and friendly service. Food wise, so bad. Their Thit Nuong is red and tasteless, their nuoc mam- tasteless, their Viet coffee is probably from one of the packets you add water to and mix up ( it does not come dripping from the filter like usual Viet coffee), their coconut drink is one of those Foco coconut cans and their pho takes a long time to come out and a lot of lime is needed to make it taste decent. My family and I drove 30 mins out in search of some Vietnamese food and this was the only one we could find. First glance on yelp, this place got 4/5 rating so we gave it a try but didn't realized many reviews were outdated. We all ordered pho and were very disappointed. The broth was very clear and bland.. adding in hoisen, basil, and lime didn't help either. We still had an embarrassing amount leftover. Only 1 out of 5 bowls of pho were finished. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee and at all the Vietnamese restaurant they bring out the coffee filter and let your coffee drip in front of you but the man made mine in the back which makes me think it was just instant coffee. I'm almost certain it's just trung Nguyen g7 instant coffee with extra condense milk. It was still good but I was expecting actual viet coffee.. Our bill came out to be $70.. for 5 bowls of pho and 1 coffee.. I wouldn't have had a problem with the price of the quality of the food matched but we were so underwhelmed. Typically a bowl of pho is around $9-11 but each bowl here was around $11-15 which was insane. Overall the service was nice, coffee is decent, and food isn't great but has a lot of room for improvements. Just add more tested spices. Good luck. read more

Omg tried one viet restaurant on my trip in Destin, Florida and worst idea. I decided to get something no water because I wanted to get a bubble tea as well. I decided to get bun thit nuong cha gio and this was a TOTAL fail. My brother got the same as me and my nephew he got the rice platter one...If you go here please do not get there thit nuong dish at all. Isn't thit nuong suppose to have a brown blackish color and NOT red. If so the meat SUCK. We literally could not finish all the dishes. I think I should have gone with Pho. The worse pho I've ever had. When I went up to pay for our meals, the owner took control of the credit machine and asked if I want to leave 15% tip. Before I got a chance to say yes, he already selected for me and totaled it up. I do not mind to leave a tip but it should my choice not the owner. The star of the meal was their Pho Tai Nam that comes with eye-round steak, brisket and onions. Having ordered the Large, with other Restaurants in mind, the Pho Nyugen bowls and servings are super generous! The broth was flavorful, nicely spiced and good salt balance. The steak and brisket were plentiful and tasty. It was easy to find the brisket as they were sliced a bit thicker and enjoyed the satisfying beef adventure. And the noodles. Awesome noodles, perfectly cooked. But, my no-knowledge of what "large" means here caused a take out container for another culinary event. I have been wanting to check out this pho place since the one in Destin is just terrible. To start, if you are coming from Santa Rosa Beach, expect a good hike to get out there, but know that you won't be disappointed at all. It is located in Valparaiso, and kind off to the side. Once in the restaurant, it was pretty much like any small mom and pop pho house. The chairs and table simple... the cook is grandma while the son runs the shop... and it looks to be his kids waitering the tables. What I like the best is the menu. Its a very small amount of choices compared to what I am used to in Dallas, but that's just it.... They focus on what they are good at making. I had the wonton and bbq noodle soup and an iced coffee. The first thing I want to note is that the broth was amazing. If they used any MSG, I didn't notice it. It seemed more like the traditional broth that they used by taking their time to cook it overnight. That was just fantastic. I also like the Vietnamese iced coffee that they had. The best part of it all was that it was very fast service. Food came out quick and still was delicious. Delicious PHO in Valpariso! My rule is always always go to the asian restaurant that serves other asians. Why? Because if you can make it home but still go out to eat it and not for FREE then that's saying someone's doing something right in the kitchen. I tried out their PHO on a cold winters day, I came in AT 10am because I had been coming whenever they were closed it was so sad so I finally came in first thing. The waiter there was cleaning the tabletops and setting up the silverware. A GOOD SIGN. I didn't wait long for my soup either, from the time I ordered to the time it hit my gob was literally 10-15 minutes tops. I ordered the Pho with flank steak, tendon, meatball, and some sort of brisket type meat and substituted the tendon for more steak without hearing any issue. Topped it off with some Hoison and Saratcha sauce for some kick and dipped in the fresh sliced jalapeno's they give on the side plate with bean sprouts and mint leaves. The rice noodles alone in the broth was awesome! It hit the spot, the meat was tender and filled with flavor. Although I wasn't able to sway the owner into a military discount he was nice enough to thank me for my patronage which I think is just a nice token of customer service. I will be back again. I purchased the vermicelli noodle dish with pork and fried spring roll. The veggies such as the cilantro, bean sprouts and lettuce qere not fresh at all. The pork wasn't grilled as it usually is supposed to be for this dish. I even purchased the fresh spring rolls and those veggies were not fresh and crisp either. The pho was flavourful and hot and the styrofoam container had a large pile of noodles, fresh basil, bean sprouts, and fresh jalapeño slices. We ordered fried rice but didn't eat it right away, as we had more than enough with the pho. Once we tried it, it was just okay. We saw this place and, aside from not being a huge Vietnamese food fan myself, we opted to try it. It was quite busy when we arrived (only one or two tables were open). They appeared to only have one waitress, who was mostly succeeding in keeping up with the rush. My wife & daughter both got a beef-and-noodle Pho dish. I got a vegetarian noodle dish. They both really liked their dish and the volume was such that they both had leftovers. I finished most of my dish; it was okay, but this wasn't really what I'd pick if traveling solo. Everyone was pleased with their choices which included Pho Tai, Pho Ga, Hu Tieu Nam Vang, and Spring Rolls. The take-out was carefully wrapped with broth separate from add-ins and was supplied with wonderfully fresh basil, jalapeno slices, and bamboo shoots.
