Walked in probably after they were closed but they had the open sign up. Greeted by a little Thai lady who I later found out was the owner. She was so welcoming and thanked us for allowing her to serve us. Ambiance reminded me of Germany, as the owner had lived there for years and brought it to Niceville with her. Food was great, schnitzel was perfect, just like back in Germany. Our son had the Jaeger Schnitzel, my wife had the plain Schnitzel and I went for the Bangkok Schnitzel, all three were on point, our daughter went for the Currywurst which was a good level of spice. My Bangkok Schnitzel had a Thai Curry sauce and pineapples, it was a nice fusion. The bread was homemade and we ordered a second basket, because who doesn't love a great homemade bread? Hubs second favorite food is German, so he immediately sought out and planned two German food dinners on our recent FL trip. He ordered the jagerschnitzel with spaetzle and mushroom gravy, and had enough to bring some back to the condo. He proclaimed it very tasty and five-worthy, in his opinion. We also shared a pretzel with cheese sauce, and they gave us some delicious tasting homemade bread. The unsweetened iced tea tasted delicious once the pink stuff was added, and that's only saying something because you wouldn't believe how often the iced tea stinks in restaurants. They had next to nothing for vegetarians, since they seem to enjoy putting bacon in everything. Why? They kindly swapped the Swiss cheese (blech) in the kasespatzle for Alfredo sauce, and I got a cute salad plate too. It tasted fine, I had no complaints. I would like to point out that, according to the interwebs, "In 2022, about 8.12 million people in Germany identified as either vegetarians or largely forgo meat consumption." My family group of six including two children, had a lovely experience at Schnitzel and More this evening. Not only was the schnitzel done to perfection, thin and tender and crispy with delicious sauces ( Madagascar, Jager, and secret Munich), the bread and drawn butter were impossible to resist. Apple and her staff were very kind and accommodating to the children and gave them a special ice cream treat after they'd eaten. We will definitely be back. read more

We've eaten here several times over the years and have always been happy. It's under new management, and the menu is a bit different, but there is still an authentic German taste. Jasmine and Apple are simply amazing and wonderful people. We called several weeks ahead and asked if they would be able to accommodate a group of 20 for a retirement party the Saturday after Christmas, and they said yes. When we arrived, they had the tables in one big table and even had balloons! We were impressed by the addition of the balloons. The drinks were refreshing; we ordered sodas and wine. The interior was clean and cute, with a mix of German and Asian decorations. Now, onto the disappointing news...The menu is pricey for unauthentic food! (for meals, it's $20-25+) Our party of 6 was sat down, and the first thing we noticed was the pricey menu (which wouldn't have been a problem if the food was authentic), but we realized the food authenticity when we ordered an appetizer of pretzels. The pretzels looked and tasted like freezer food. You can get a pack of pretzels from Walmart for the same price we paid for one! Fast food tasted fresher than those pretzels. Shortly after finishing the pretzels, we left since there was no point in spending over $100 for our party of 6 to eat expensive, unsatisfactory, unauthentic food. I rarely get emotional in general and especially not in public but tonight was an expectation. When I was 6 I lived in Germany for 2 years. The landlords that owned our house also owned the German restaurant next door and we ate there several times a month. I have traveled all over America trying to recreate that experience from my childhood. Some places have come close. The Bavarian in Fort Walton is particularly good and I've eaten there several times but none have quite hit the mark exactly. This restaurant did. This restaurant tasted exactly like my childhood German restaurant to the point that a flood of memories came flowing over me like that scene in Ratatouille and I literally cried. I am not joking. The food here is without compare to any German restaurant outside of Germany and many inside of Germany. The German important beer options are excellent and incredible and their dessert was as good as the rest of their food, absolutely authentic and amazing. Apparently they have customers who travel from 2 hours away to eat here and I would drive 2-3 times that distance to experience this food again. Exceptional food, ambiance, and service. I have been in the US for 28 years and have been to many German restaurants. I truly mean this when I say, this been the best Jägerschnitzel that I have eaten in any Restaurant in the USA. The German potato salad and Spätzle also tasted just like my mom's back in Germany taste like. I really didn't know what to expect from a German restaurant. The photos on Yelp made it look Americanish. My friend was very persistent so we made the trip to Nashville for a try. The decor would make me think of something similar to Germany. The building would be what I envisioned a snow lodge in Germany would look like. The inside was shiny, wooden paneling. The tables had fake flowers on the table. The waitress wore some kind of dress and spoke with an accent that really gave it a special feeling. My friend and I walked in about 15 minutes before they closed. The waitress said the kitchen was aboit to close in 5 minutes. We did not have a lot of time to decipher the menu, but I had an idea I was going to go with Schnitzel. Schnitzel is a huge fried pork chop that is tenderized. I was impressed with how tender it was!Just choosing which Schnitzel was the hard part. My waitress was excellent at helping me with my decision. I chose the Madagascar which comes with a little spicy peppercorn gravy on it. On a scale of heat, it was maybe a 2. It had the kick from black pepper that did not sustain. My sides were German potato salad and a house salad. The German potato salad was chopped red potatoes soaked in vinegar with bacon and onions. The house salad came with usual salad but had corn added in. The dressing was creamy but had a bland taste to it. Homemade bread was served with something akin to hollandaise sauce. My friend ordered a sausage sampler with 4 different type of sausages. Dont ask me the names besides bratwurst. It came with 2 sauces - mustard and a tomato curry. It is too much for one person to tackle so make sure you share it. My experience with German food was pleasurable. I would like to eat it again. The Schnitzel itself was impressive. read more

The Schnitzel Lodge transports you out of Niceville into a quaint German village. The decor - including the wait staff's clothing - makes it feel like very German. The wait staff is also very friendly, which combined with the decor, makes the place feel very festive. Most importantly, the food is delicious. We enjoyed the Goulash soup as an appetizer, especially dipping the freshly baked bread into that soup. For entrees, we both ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel, which was tasty, but huge! The entree came with a side salad and a side of German potato salad. If I had known the entree was going to be so large, I would have recommended we split one entree and order more of their tempting appetizers - I'd like to try the potato pancakes and pretzels! To top it off, we ordered the apple strudel with cinnamon ice cream - yum, yum. They are popular so I strongly recommend making a reservation in advance. I believe this place is under new management, it has changed since the last time we dined there. The food was not the same. The decor is similar but the menu is smaller all the items are $18 and up. The mushroom gravy was extremely peppery, not edible. The schnitzel was very hard. I believe it was over cooked. Not juicy but dry and hard. The spaetzel was okay, just boiled, not fried and had no seasoning on it. The bread and dip were good. The beer was good but they had no draft beer available only bottle (their bar menu has shrunk also). The service was okay. There were 4 tables seated and the waitress was by herself, it took a while but wasn't awful. The biggest upset was the top of the glass of water I got had chips on the rim. I had sausage and sauerkraut. The only reason I took away 1 star was because the menu said my meal came with mashed potatoes. When my server asked for what side I wanted, I thought it was in addition to the potatoes because the menu stated that as a default item. Food came. No mashed potatoes. Don't get me wrong. The food was delicious. But I expected sausage, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. So I was a little disappointed. Food tasted great. Service was wonderful.
