Apart from having one of the more memorial names (#1) that I've seen in the greater Houston pho-cosystem, Pho Oh Yeah (Which shall be referred to as "POY" from this point on) is a genuinely a decent option in Katy. For starters, being a Halal option is an incredibly rare. There are only a handful of Vietnamese places that have some Halal dishes, but POY is certified as a Halal based establishment. The have a dedicated section of the menu and the certification proudly displayed as one enters the restaurant. The interior is bright, festive, clean and well maintained. They have the classic marble top tables, one of the most prominent furniture pieces in any Viet spot. There is no shortage of space for groups and parking is definitely abundant. Speaking of abundant, the menu reflects some of the most intense variety I've seen at a Viet spot. The pho variety alone has more than 20 choices, ranging from a kid's size to a $40 1 pounder of beef tenderloin (#2). Sirloin pincanha is also featured on numerous things from pho to banh mi to bun dishes, along with short rib and the usual meaty suspects (#3). Their pho gets a thumbs up for broth and portion, and the fresh herb condiments are appreciated. Goi cuon and nem cuon were also a thumbs up and were nicely packed with proteins and veggies. While the bun bo hue wasn't as spicy as my group would have enjoyed, it still was nicely portioned and was fulfilling in other ways. Topping it off with a nice Vietnamese coffee (in a branded to-go cup no less) is always a recommendation. The owner is one of the most eclectic personalities I've seen at a restaurant. He's personable, amusing, and always makes everyone in my party feel like they're right at home. Went back and tried the infamous Việt Thảo's trứng chiên and steak.... Mean it's was delicious. They gave me a ribeye instead of New York strips. A little pricey but I think worth it given how much steak they gave you and the sauce was good as well. read more

I hope management will take greater care in ensuring that staff members who are not feeling well are given the opportunity to stay home, especially when working around food and customers. During my meal, a staff member repeatedly and audibly snorted phlegm, which was extremely unpleasant and affected my appetite and overall dining experience. This has been my go to place for a quick solo lunch when I'm running errands around the Katy area. I hate that we don't have really good Asian food around here but found this place and it's actually pretty decent! It's not the best but it's good! It'll help suffice my cravings for Bun Bo Hue. I've been here maybe 5 times in the past 6 months. I like that fact that they have the special for $14.95 during weekdays. You can pick between pho or bun bo hue, tea or soda and either an eggroll or spring roll. All this for under $20 with tip?! That's a pretty good deal! Especially now when eating out so expensive! The bun bo hue was nice and hot when it came out. Love the crisp veggies with it. Only complaint was the spring roll.. it was just way too much vermicelli! lol I need more veggies and herbs in it but still good nonetheless. But I'll opt for an eggroll next time. They have a special separate menu for halal meat-- say less. I have yet to eat inside of this establishment, but we have picked up from here, and my go to so far has been the bahn mi. I'm not brave enough to pho and drive. Perhaps one day we will eat in here and try their different soups, because I do love a good soup, but for now, I wanted to comment on how they seemed happy to be there. I feel like that makes a huge difference in the environment. Yes, having a clean place is a huge priority for patrons, as well as professionalism, but I really enjoy what I see employees kind of hanging out with each other and smiling and laughing. There was trash left on the floors on the tables around us. The table was not properly washed. Save your money -- do NOT eat here. Before ordering the P24 Short Ribs pho, I specifically asked the server if the meat was fall-off-the-bone and good quality. He told me it was. When the dish came out, the short ribs were extremely overcooked and basically inedible. The meat was tough, chewy, stuck to the bone, and clearly low quality. I brought this up and asked if there was anything they could do -- even offered to switch to a different meat and pay if needed -- but the server said there was nothing he could do and offered zero solutions. They offer Halal options on a separate menu than the original. My friend said the food was pretty good but overpriced. Bun Bo Hue (3/5): The broth was extremely lacking. While there was plenty of meat, most of it was over-cooked and rubbery. I was really disappointed by the pork bone because it should be soft and melt in your mouth. Tonight was our 2nd time dining here. The place is clean and the waitstaff is attentive. My husband and daughter had beef pho and they said it was really good. I had bun bo hue and it's legit. The flavors are spot on. I've never had meatballs in bun bo hue before but it was pretty good. I've tried bun bo hue at our restaurants around Houston and it's not as good as this place. We came here with inlaws that know about the celebrity (?) that opened up this restaurant. Upon entering, the restaurant had a pretty outdated 90s vibe and the printed menus were also looked like they were the product of a home printer instead of a professionally printed product. The menu looked pretty standard compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. Pho, BBH, vermicelli dishes etc. The menu prices were about 40-50% higher than a Vietnamese restaurant in Bellaire. Pho and such were $15 instead of the usual $7-9. Same with the entire menu pretty much. The taste of all of the dishes were fine. I've had better pho and better bun bo hue in Houston at a lower price point. Service was pretty much; you order, we bring you food, we take your plates. Nothing extraordinary and for the price, this definitely wasn't worth it and there are much better options at a lower price point and at the same price point. I hate to give out low star but this place it's horrible. We were here today for lunch at around 1pm. The place was half full with lots of dirty tables that weren't clean from previous customers. The floor was filled with trash that hasn't clean and picked up. They sat us down and after 10 minutes we still waiting to see the menu. We literally had to get up and went to the counter to get the menu ourselves. Then it took almost an hour for the food to come. They were pretty much well staffs at least 4 servers on the floor but who knows what happened behind the scene. Servers were not friendly at all. When we asked extra veggies for our soup noodles she didn't seemed happy about the request. I had to tell her, you served 4 bowls of noodle and gave us one tiny plate of veggie, it wasn't enough. If you eat Vietnamese food then you know the condiments came with the noodle soup and it's a must. Food was Ok nothing out of ordinary. We do have plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in town to choose. It's exciting to see halal Vietnamese options here. However, the service here is the WORST!! Our server came up to one side of our table and barked "what do you want?" This is not how you ask customers what they would like to order. She did not repeat our order back. Our food didn't arrive for 45 minutes. When we finally received it, it was all mixed and there were items missing. The server was arguing with us that this is what we had ordered when clearly we hadn't. It seemed like she wanted to leave the unordered dishes at our table and make us pay for them! We managed to flag down another server and expressed to her our concerns. She apologized on her behalf. Visited this place because my parents and I wanted to see MC Viet Thao and try out his food. Truly did NOT disappoint. Place was very clean and all of the staff were super kind. Of course MC Viet Thao himself was great, took the time to chat with us and having a good time. Parents had pho, which they said was good. I had the Oh Yeah Vermicelli and I really liked it. Came here from CA and was thrilled to see Mr. Viet Thao. He came by our table and asked if everything was ok and literally made us feel welcomed in his "home". I ordered the infamous Pho Picanha and have to admit it's pretty good. The broth is light but rich in flavor. The rice noodle is cooked perfectly and the Picanha is oh so delicious! Each piece of meat is thick but yet so tender and you can definitely taste the freshness of it.
