Wow, heard that MC Viet Thao opened up this restaurant, it peaks my interest to go and check it out, since he has done so many food review at so many difference restaurants all over the country. This has to be our worst food place we visited in Houston. We came there for lunch on a Sunday, pretty slow, not busy at all. We were sat down, and ordered 5 bowls of Bun Bò Hue, 4 sugarcane juice and 1 Vietnamese coffee, they stated the coffee and sugarcane juice are very good and fresh and the BBH was cooked by a person from Hue so it's very authentic. I also ordered 1 Banh mì. After placing our order we waited for about 5 minutes and our drink came, sugarcane juice is definitely not fresh and tasted sour, the Vietnamese coffee doesn't taste anything like it, tasted powder coffee. After another 6 minutes our 1st bowl came, broth was warm, not hot, no veggies, finally veggies came out, once you put the veggies in, the broth is pretty much cold. After another 6 minutes our other 3 bowls came, but our 5th one never came. All the broth were barely warm, taste of the broth and meat are no good. We ask the waitress about our 5th bowls twice, and still no 5th bowls also my Bánh mì was MIA also. As I was getting up to pay, my sister told me to make sure they didn't charge me for the 5G bowl and the Bánh mì, they told me that they are now making it, and that they can bring me out the 5th bowl if BBH, I told her it's okay, we have to leave now, we've been waiting for a while. The lady at the cashier counter off me the Bánh mì for free, and insists that I take it. It was the worst Bánh mì ever, glad I didn't have to pay $7 for it. Bad service, bad food, very bad drink. Overall it's a terrible experience, this is my first and last. Save yourself some frustration and headache and avoid this place. read more

Came here yesterday because ppl said this restaurant is from MC Viet Thao (he's pretty popular in vietnamese community). The restaurant is pretty clean, lots of seating. The staffs are very nice and helpful. I ordered thai tea and che ba mau, Che ba mau was okay, but not recommend Thai Tea, doesn't taste any tea at all, too much milk, boba are very tough like they're not cook completely. Grilled pork, egg rolls and grilled shrimp vermicelli, too much vermicelli, looked like they heated it up in microwave, there's no vietnamese herbs, only lettuce and cucumber . Grilled pork tastes pretty good but not the egg rolls, I can't finished them, egg rolls came out pretty soggy like they fried it for a long time. I'm a very big bun rieu fan. So I saw it in the menu I had to come in to try. Star ratings 1-5: Cleanliness 5 Decor 4 Friendliness 4 Food BBH 3.5 on the sweet side Bun rieu 3 Received soups at different times. It was somewhat disappointed .. I grew up watching the travel segment of Van Son and I'd say that's where I learned a majority of my Vietnamese during my younger years so when I found out I was headed out to Houston for a work trip, I had to make a pit stop here for nostalgic purposes. It was a rainy day but my excitement to try the legendary MC Viet Thao's restaurant knew no bounds. The interior of the restaurant is very nostalgic and is what you'd imagine when you think of a Vietnamese restaurant from the early 2000s. Videos of Viet Thao are playing in every corner and his face is on the menu. The man is proud of his food and wants you to feel that same happiness he feels when he digs into a plate of food and I can respect that mindset haha Also, in terms of service, maybe it was because I'm Vietnamese but I personally think that it's objectively above average when comparing it to other Vietnamese restaurants of similar type/price points. However, it looked like they were pretty efficient and kind in handling the other guests while I was there. Their restroom is also clean which is always a good sign in my eyes! I came alone so I didn't get a chance to try everything I wanted so I ended up just ordering the Pho Picanha because it piqued my interest. When my food came out, I couldn't help but giggle because it was visually a peculiar dish. The fat caps of the picanha floated to the top so it looked like a bunch of steak squares were floating in my bowl but once I picked it up, I realized that I had a bunch of picanha strips in my bowl! For the price ($20) and how much picanha I had, I'd say it's well worth it. The pho is pretty good for the Houston area and I'd be willing to come back out to try the other top items here. I was about to order some more food to-go because of how satisfied I was but I had a flight to catch so I unfortunately wouldn't have been able to take it with me. read more

I've tried the Pho, Bun Rieu, and Bun Bo Hue. I would only come here for Bun Bo Hue. Although prices are a bit steep ($15 for BBH), that's to be expected for Katy. BBH has a nice variety of meat, and they put giò sống in BBH instead of chả lụa which I don't mind. Pho here is alright, I've had better in the area. Bun rieu ranks the lowest for me because the broth was so bland. I asked for extra shrimp paste to add inside but even then it didn't hit the spot. They also had these shrimp balls (?) which I've never had at any other bun rieu place and I didn't like the taste of those too much. Anytime I visit Houston, THIS IS ALWAYS A MUST STOP restaurant for me EVEN when it's out of the way. On my most recent trip (I was in Houston for 6 days), I stopped by here 3 times... yes, you read that right; 3 TIMES!! I had the "com suon bi cha trung" twice ( BY FAR THE BEST "SUON" I'VE YET TO TRY) & the pho filet mignon (the broth was AMAZING, I typically have to add stuff to my broth to really enjoy it BUT NOT HERE! It was perfect as is!). Service here is ALWAYS wonderful, they have the sweetest waiters & the place is ALWAYS clean! I highly recommend, you won't be disappointed! read more

My search for the best Pho and especially Bun Bo Hue ended here. This is the best I ever had from California to even motherland Vietnam. For only $13 for Pho and $15 for BBH, the potions are huge with lots of everything. The soup bowl stayed piping hot for a long time. I tried the seafood egg roll which is also good. Will try other dishes like Bun Rieu and rice plates on the next visit. It will probably also be good. Can't wait for a return visit there. read more

Restaurant is big, clean and quiet. Need some music but they had the tv running with a show of Mr. Viet Thao trying food in OC (volume was barely on.) Didn't come in here with high expectations because they are fairly new. We were greeted and seated right away. I wanted to try more than one dish so I ordered Bun bo hue, Bun rieu cua, 2 bowls of Pho, egg fried rice (for my picky son) and egg rolls. Egg rolls came out before the drinks and was missing my Nuoc Mia for a while. They made sure it was really fresh because I didn't get it till after my meal. Bun Bo Hue was good and the large portion is plentiful and was split between the hubby and I. Don't have to drive to Bellaire anymore. Bun rieu was ok but I'm being biased because I'm used to my mom's (my fav). I like pork ribs in my bun rieu. The pho was ok too. I can't give an honest review on this because I'm not a fan of pho but my kids and husband likes it. They forgot my son's fried rice and I had to remind them twice, ten minutes apart and even after we finished our food, we still didn't get it. The waiter came to explained that the ticket never printed in the back. ‍ we told them to cancel if they haven't made it. One person said yes they made it while the other said no.. not a big deal just pack it in a togo box. They brought it out with nuoc mia and said it would be on the house. After I paid and got back to the table, I realized they didn't take it off my tab. Once again, not a big deal because we still got it and still ate it. One thing I noticed about Mr. Viet Thao is his kindness and generosity. He fed his delivery truck driver and was telling him to always come on an empty stomach because he will FOREVER get free food. My parents wanted to check this place out for the hype that the store belongs to a Vietnamese MC (artist) and it wasn't worth the hype. Pretty disappointed because he's so popular in the Vietnamese community and has tried delicious food. Very clean atmosphere with awesome customer service, people always checked up on us. As for the food, it was okay... I appreciated how both broths were "clear" and not fatty or MSG tasting, along with the portion sizes. The pho and bun bo hue was okay, it wasn't the most tasty or authentic. Both are missing the beef smell. I would say it's a decent spot to satisfy your craving, but we will not return for a second time. We didn't appreciate that a glass of water wasn't offered for free... instead you must order a drink. Vietnamese food is one of the cuisines I missed a lot when I started eating halal exclusively so I was so pumped to find Pho Oh Yeah (plus I love the name lol). I've eaten my way through everything on their halal menu and I can tell you everything is in point. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the beef picanha bahn mi. Listen that might be one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. When I first bit into it I had to pause. What was happening? The perfect bite. The bread was soft and crusty. The meat was tender and fatty and cooked just right. The vegetables were perfectly crisp. The flavors were just the right amount of umami omg yes! I planned to eat half and save half for later because it's pretty sizeable. Needless to say that did not happen. Other honorable mentions are the shaking beef, vermicelli noodles, egg rolls, but like I said everything I've eaten here has been delicious. If they ever add chicken rice to the menu it'll be a wrap. Fun environment! Staff was friendly and helpful. I came with a group of 19 people, thankfully they were very accommodating. The bowls are really big (mainly for show) and so are the portions, know your limits. I had Phở #3 mainly because their special "Oh yeah! Phở" had one pound of beef and that was too large for me. (To be fair, #3 was also too big and I ended splitting it up with a family member). I would definitely come back, but it's a little on the pricey side due to the portions of it all. I have gotten the pleasure to visit this establishment twice. Both times service was great and the food was fresh! I ordered the bun bo hue twice. The first time I was greedy and got the large, but I learned my lesson and got a small after that. The portions are plentiful and I feel the one thing that really sets them apart is the meat balls they make! It's so delicious. I ordered through door dash and my broth arrived room temperature at best with zero flavor. The shrimp were cold but overcooked. After re-simmering my broth I added my noodles and began to eat, only to find that the noodles hadn't been cooked properly either. This place used to be Pho Bamboo and they were also subpar. They only have water bottle with of-course 2$ / bottle. I love this place because of the best halal pho, and the amazing kind people that work here. I have to say that I lived Westminster California AKA little Sigon. This pho in TX is the same as that in California. As for the kind people. My youngest daughter broke a dish. I was very embarrassed and upset, as for the owners (housband and wife) they told me it's not a big deal and they told my daughters that it's OK when they were young, they broke a lot more dishes then they did. They are very sincere and kind hearted owners, and they truly value not only the customers, but also the community as a whole. I just had thirty minutes for a quick lunch while my friend was getting an mri nearby. Yelp search, thought hmm questionable because the overall rating wasn't that great. Read the reviews! Decided to try it. So Glad I did!!!! This is amazing pork & shrimp vermicelli. I ordered it per my usual extra cucumber & extra cilantro. I liked that it was veggie strong and yet had plenty of grilled pork and lots of shrimp. It wasn't just a noodle dish, it was perfectly balanced. The fish sauce was mild but good. I was surprised that the vermicelli didn't come with at least one eggroll. So, I ordered Eggrolls which had three. They were the best Vietnamese Eggrolls I've ever had. Flavor and filling, they also served them with pickled daikon and carrots. Perfection! Service was great! My alarm went off had to rush back to pick my friend up, I waved, he came right away and brought me to go boxes. The only thing was I wished he brought me a separate sealed container for the fish sauce. The experience was relaxing, The food was excellent, The price was a bit higher than usual but nowadays things are more expensive. I would definitely say I got my money's worth.
