It's aiiiight. I was craving a bowl of hot pho, and I stopped by Pho Saigon for the steak, flank, tripe, and tendon version. There are multiple varieties and combinations per usual on the menu, and the beef pho broth is pretty uniform across the board. The flavor was fine, but right in the middle range of phos I've tried. The side toppings were a bit wilted as well. There is a regular small size and a large size, which comes with more noodles and broth. I also sampled the avocado smoothie with pearls, and this was also fine. The avocado was a little on the raw side and I could taste it. Pho is always the solution after a long night of drinking. Pho Saigon is one of our go-to places because of its delicious broth and reasonable pricing. First off, they have multiple combinations so you can pick and choose the cuts of meat you want. I ordered the #18 that had eye-round steak, well-done flank, fatty brisket, and soft tendon. You can also choose the size of your bowl. The large bowl is more cost efficient because it's only an extra $1 but I get full off broth quickly and opted for the small bowl which still left me full at the end. I also ordered the ca phe sua da and it brought me back to life. They actually serve it to you with the coffee filter so you can make it as concentrated or as dilute as you like. This has been my go to pho spot for over a decade plus. I appreciate the consistency and the broth is just very comforting and nostalgic for me. The service is fairly quick for pho to come out. The egg rolls may take a bit longer depending on how busy they are but not bad. Although this last trip they completely forgot our egg roll order sadly but life goes on. I've ordered here through door dash when desperate and can't get out the house but it doesn't taste the same as dining in. The ambiance is cozy and reminiscent of late 90s for me. Typical weekend night for me to have some pho. Okay, maybe an occasional thing for me so I was stoked to have some. We tried the special Pho, seafood pho and a side order of grilled pork chop. The seafood pho was a very clean tasting broth but the seafood-ness of it was nowhere to be found. Not sure what they intended to do here or how they intend to do it but it was a complete miss. Besides the two pieces of seafood it came with, it was still a fulfilling bowl of noodles but for the Covid pricing most of the pho shops are jumping to, I expected more. The special pho was a standard bowl of pho. Nothing remotely special other than the gauging price. The side order of the pork chop was probably the best thing we ate. They have three different size options: Small, Medium, and Large. All with different prices. You can even select white or dark meat for the chicken in your noodle soup. I got the small and it was under $8, including tax. It was great. It also came with cilantro, mint leaves, etc. The only criticism I had was that not all of the seats were placed six feet apart so be careful - COVID is no joke. They're not really mindful about seating other parties away from one another, so you have to be the one to ask them to seat you further. I'd recommend going when they're slow or ordering to-go. They did a smooth hand-off as they exchanged shifts, and made sure we were taken care of.
