Located at Market Square Center, a strip-mall on Orange Ave in Roanoke Virginia, this Asian family-owned Vietnamese restaurant, has been in business since August 2011. I'm not an expert in Vietnamese Cuisine, nor do I profess to be, but I can tell when I eat good food and I have discovered it in fancy restaurants as well as in many hole in the wall ones. Today I decided to get off the road most traveled, to end up in this Asian family-owned Vietnamese Cuisine restaurant. As I arrived I immediately saw its simple but very effective white sign with large black print with the restaurant's name and telephone number. Inside, the place was very clean starting from its large front window and glass door. Decorated very simple with plants, family items saved throughout the years, and artworks hanging from the walls, its shinny hardwood floor and simple lamps hanging from the ceiling, join with the nice looking wooden furniture to create the right amount of elegance and at the same time relaxed environment. I received a warm welcome and genuine greeting from a Vietnamese gentleman who had me take a seat and handed me the menu of the restaurant. To drink I ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was so rich and delicious with its condensed milk. For appetizer I ordered the Pork Spring Rolls served with a Peanut Dipping. For a better idea of how good they were, I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review, because a picture is worth a thousand words. As my main course I ordered the Stir Fry Noodles with Grilled Pork and Shrimps. It came out in a square, light green plate. And it both looked and tasted so good that I immediately identified with the best of Vietnamese Cuisine. I got a takeout order and it might not be fair to rate a place by way of a food delivery service. However, the bill was about $95 for two soups and two appetizers. For me that's crazy expensive especially considering I have to go to the hotel restaurant to get a bowl and silverware.. Came in for early lunch today, love that they open and are ready to serve at 10am! The place is beautiful inside with really neat swinging egg chairs to relax in. First thing I noticed was how immaculately clean it was, even the bathroom was very well kept. We ordered some pho and vermicelli noodles as well as some spring wraps. Everything wonderful, and evenly spiced. Nothing was overpowered. They were out of the rib meat btw but that was fine we switched,that would be the only negative. The soup was on the sweet side with no depth of flavor. The presentation was nice, but no veggie plate as they put a little bit of bean sprouts and basil on top when they serve it to you. The bun bo hue was also sweet so I tried to transform it with fish sauce and lots of sriracha but it didn't help. I asked for shrimp paste but they said they couldn't give it to me for Bun Bo Hue. I just finished dinner and already can't wait to come back here! I got the beef spicy noodle soup and loved it. The spring rolls were pretty good too. But the real star was the Vietnamese iced coffee - so creamy and decadent! The service was lightning fast and very polite. Dining in was a pleasant experience with nice quiet music and plenty of space - both booths and tables. Definitely 10/10 and a place I'll visit often. read more

Meh, not impressed with this place. The spring rolls I ordered were soggy inside and had a funky taste to it. It was all veggies, just like a chinese egg roll but worst. The dipping sauce that came with it wasn't even Vietnamese nuoc mam (fish sauce), it's bottled Thai sauce. Pho didn't have that strong pho aroma, it was like watered down. The Sriracha sauce on the table was also watery and thin, eww. Bun bo hue (spicy noodle) wasn't spicy, lacked flavor, and they were missing a lot of ingredients. The traditional pork knuckle and pork roll were missing, and many more. The type of noodles they used for this dish was wrong as well. I ordered something to go and when we got home from the 5 hr drive, came to find out it was missing a few things. 3 different type of meats was suppose to be in the dish but all I got was dried up chicken. Their hours are weirdly late (3-8PM) and it's hard to order over the phone because it took a while to answer. We had to go in person to place our order because no one was answering. We got the pho and spring rolls. The pho is good, but we felt like the amount of meat they gave was very little despite us ordering the large. The soup base was nice and not overly salty. 1. The hours were listed as 3-8PM on Fridays on Google. I called several times from 3-3:30, and no one picked up. They either need to open their restaurant when advertised or update their hours. 2. While I was trying to place my order, my friend happened to laugh in the background. The person taking my order got inexplicably offended and accused us of prank calling and claimed we weren't even going to pick up my order. He proceeded to take the rest of my order, but then abruptly hung up. I was unsure if they were actually going to complete my order and didn't want to go elsewhere if they were, so I called again to confirm. They put me on hold only to hang up shortly thereafter. Good broth. 4/5 Chicken curry pho: slightly different broth with a nice hint of lemongrass. Not a massive curry flavor. Chicken is pulled-style white meat and kind of meh, but at least it's not soy. Got pho, spring roll, and bahn mi. The pho broth was not to my liking, although it wasn't awful. It was too sweet and lacked savoriness. The spring roll was fine, but the bahn mi was terrible. Only had 3 ingredients - lettuce, carrot, and meat. I've always had bahn mi with jalapeños, lettuce, pickled radish, cucumbers, cilantro, etc. Bread was very dry too. All the food tasty! Not too bland, not too salty, well balanced flavors. The drinks in the photo were strawberry-hibiscus drinks that are being prepared now for future menu and really refreshing! This is the best pho I've ever had. I drive from blacksburg to Roanoke all the time just for this pho. I get the chicken one because I don't like red meat but apparently the flank steak ones are just as good. I also always get lemongrass tofu for appetizer and it's insane- so so good. Every time I would go my Bá (grandma) house she would make me pho as a little girl it was the best. My mom and I where really hungry because we haven't really eaten all day we decided to stop and eat at a Viet restaurant because it's all we are used to eating and it's a closest thing to eating a home cooked meal, this is the best pho I had in a long time the waiter was super nice, me and him where cracking jokes and laughs the whole time and I really felt at home. Came here based only upon Yelp recommendations! The first impression was very very good! The Vietnamese staff seemed very genuine, friendly & attentive! Noticed the wait staff cleaning the tables with sanitizing spray which is a huge plus in my books! The vegetarian tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce was excellent! All the food is literally microwaved. I went here and ordered a large beef pho, you could tell the meat was microwaved, the egg rolls are the same ones you can buy yourself at Walmart. I'd you're looking for good Vietnamese food this is definitely not the place to go. read more

I'll premise this by saying I'm difficult to impress with my Vietnamese food. I thought the summer rolls weren't bad, they actually used cilantro which a majority of places will only use shredded lettuce. The fried spring rolls were delicious and I had them in the vermicelli dish. I thought the dish overall was pretty good, it just soaked up the sauce quickly so I would recommend asking for more sauce. It wasn't crowded at all and we thought the waitress was sweet. It is obviously a family run restaurant. The prices seemed comparable for Vietnamese food. Overall I would say it wasn't the worst or best, if you're new to Vietnamese food I would recommend trying this place. read more

Probably the best Pho I had in Central Virginia. I recently drove to Roanoke to check out how the city is doing during Covid. My gf and I found this place through yelp and we were both craving pho and so we checked it out. Got the Viet coffee, which was okay. We recently ordered 3 bowls of Pho to go from here along with 4 Spring rolls and it was amazing! Not only was everything delicious it was all packaged expertly. I wasn't sure how they would go about storing the broth and all the condiments you get with Pho (bean sprouts, lime, cilantro, basil, etc.) but they did it perfectly. The only thing I'd have to say that needs any sort of modification is that there are some items on the menu that come out quite spicy (the chicken wings) which I ordered for my young son because he isn't much into Pho but it was too spicy for him to eat. Having some verbiage on the menu that lets you know it's a spicy dish would be nice. read more
