Visited the PHO TAU BAY in Langley on April 24, 2021 one hour before closing. There was an older lady that took down our order of 2 Lg #10- Well done soups. While making my payment , I had clearly and repeatedly asked her to please not put any cilantro in the soups. I noticed the older lady began " tapping her fingers impatiently on the counter as she stared down while I punch in my PIN code. As I waited for the payment to be processed, I then asked her once more , " no cilantro, please " When we got home, my husband surprisingly found 1of the soups ( stacked on the bottom ) having the Cilantro mixed all over with the noodles and the meat. The Soup broth had spilled and leaked in the bag. I phoned the restaurant to let them know, but got no answer. My family and I enjoy eating out, but this will be last time we will spend our money and time at PHO TAU BAY ( Langley ). We have had previous visits at this place, but unfortunately both times were a disappointment. The servers were RUDE and seemed to be in a rush.... This older lady was no exception, with her poor English. ILL MANNERED! It's not what she was saying, it was HOW she was talking back , very UBRUPT, was very very RUDE! I will NOT recommend PHO TAU BAY ( Langley ) to anyone. Best to go to PHO HILLTON or other Pho place, at least you'll be treated and served with a warm SMILE. read more

This has become my favorite Pho restaurant in Surrey. It used to be Kim Hoang because it was good, and easy to park at. But, after going to Pho Tau Bay on time, it is now my favorite because their broth is just amazing. I always order the #5 Large, which is rare steak and brisket, and they give you plenty of meat. I usually have meat left over when I'm done my noodles, so they aren't stingy. I've probably gone here 4 times since I learned about it in December, and I'll definitely be back for when I'm craving Pho. read more

When my boyfriend and I moved out of Surrey we were sad that we were moving far from our favorite Vietnamese restaurant, which was Pho Tau Bay in Newton. We were SO happy to find out there was a location in Langley, and it's about 5 minutes away from us! So far we've only gotten take out from here and each time it's been delicious. The servings are huge and I always end up with leftovers. They give us pho broth with our orders and I always steal my boyfriends serving because it's so full of flavor! Perfect for the cold weather we've been having.This will definitely be my go-to Viet restaurant in the area. read more

This is NOT a Pho review. So I can't honestly comment on the Pho - although looking at the Pho orders at my table there (where there was a #5 large) it definitely didn't look like they got plenty of meat. Pretty average to say the least. The location is kind of whacked out in Langley. With a pretty crappy parking situation. What I can honestly review is the rice dish I had, which was borderine awful. First I think the rice was parboiled - it was incomprehensible. It made the whole dish wickedly poor. Add to that I got my regular Lemongrass chicken and grilled pork chop. The Lemongrass chicken came out in two small pieces on the rice, and the grilled pork chop was razor thin and small to boot! The taste was OK, but the overall portion of meat was substandard on top of a heaping helping of crappy rice. Plus no soup. Come on, everyone gives you soup with a rice dish. I will not go back. And I'm not doing this to spite the 5 star rating. I've been to a lot of Vietnamese places recently and this is at the bottom of the list. read more

I eat at this restaurant at least twice a month. Its walking distance from my office so it makes life easy just to walk there. The service is very quick when ordering pho, be prepared to wait 10 min for lemongrass chicken. I have had many dishes ill run through some of them Pho Soup with steak and meatballs: The broth is very tasty, not super salty. The meal comes with a large portion of sprouts, cilantro, mint and lime. I order a large for 7.50 and am pretty full. The meat to noodle ratio is a great. Lemongrass Chicken on broken Rice: The dish is huge! I can barely finish it! it usually comes with 2 - 3 large portions of leg/thigh chicken with a massive serving of broken rice. They service this with complimentary soup (dont care for it much) and fish sauce. The chicken is grilled on their flat top and is cooked just right. The meal is always fresh and tasty. Just the right amount of spices in the mix! Salad Roll: Good size, all the basic ingredients, good peanut dip to go with it. Perfect finish to any bowl of soup! The prawns are bright and fresh, the rice paper is tight and chewy, the noodles are cooked just right...its just good! All in all this is a great Vietnamese Restaurant. For being in the sticks of Langley and offering such good quality food I am happy. The place may look a little ghetto but the ladies running the place run a tight ship! Very Enjoyable read more

I'm not a Pho expert by any means, and don't eat a lot of meat, but I was brought here for a work lunch, and thought it was pretty decent. The people I came with are both Vietnamese, and like the restaurant, so I guess that says something. Normally I never eat prawns (unless sustainably caught), but since salad rolls were ordered for us and I didn't want to be rude, I ate one. And then another. They were really good. Very fresh tasting, with a delightful basil leaf inside, that really gave it an excellent flavour. With the hoisin sauce it was a nice treat. I had the chicken with thin rice noodles soup. It was good, especially with the sprouts and fresh basil they served at the table to add. And some chili sauce. Probably a nice dish if you had a cold and wanted some comfort food. My only problem is the lack of vegetables. The bits in my soup were not enough for my taste. The atmosphere is lacking, and the service a bit spotty, thought I couldn't tell what was really going on since the ordering was mostly not done in English, except for my order, and since I am whiter than white I had no other option. read more

2.5 stars. I love Vietnamese pho and I love salad rolls. When I read from the reviews that this place had good salad rolls, I had to try it since I was in Langley anyway. One thing I noticed right away, when I entered, was that they sell lottery tickets and they have this Keno sort of number board on the wall. I've never seen that in a Pho place. Ever. They had booth seats which I really liked. Parking in front an behind the restaurant. The food was utter disappointment! The salad rolls weren't that great and the sauce for it was not what I was used to. I am used to more peanutty sauce and this sauce was more hoisin with crushed peanuts on top. The pho broth was hot and the meat they put in was pretty good. It wasn't fatty like some of the other pho places that I have been to. But there was just something about it that I didn't like and I couldn't finish the pho. I haven't tried their rice dishes and they may be better but I don't think I will be back any time soon. The soup, salad rolls, spring rolls and coffee are as good as it gets and I eat Pho all over Vancouver, BC and AB. The place is nothing fancy, but it's clean, service is polite and the product out of the kitchen seems authentic. Broth is full of flavour, you can smell the herbs simmering the moment you walk in the door. I like that they have all the usual sauces on the table plus chili oil sate and chili paste. Everything seems really fresh and they have culantro as a garnish which is a plus in my books and goes towards authenticity and freshness. I go back every time I'm in the 'hood. Went here based on reviews and ate to regret it. The food was mediocre at best. The place is dirty and run down. The wait staff were inattentive and when asked about (if they had) hot and sour soup, had no idea - she actually pulled the menu from my hand to read it herself (ummm it's not IN the menu, THAT'S why I asked!) When the food finally came, it was not fresh hot. The spicy soup tasted like it was days old and something was 'not fresh' in it (or the whole soup was about to turn). The spring rolls were average, definitely pre-made and frozen - I doubt they made them on site. Won't be returning there. read more

Not bad at all surprised to find a decent pho place in Langley . medium bowl $8.50, large $9.00. The pho was good like 8/10 . staff were friendlier than typical pho shops they actually said hello and goodbye here . my only real complaint is I thought it was a TAD pricy . any why make medium and large basically the same price , its weird . just make the medium $8 and the large $9.50 or something. A $1 tip puts it over $10 for lunch , and if you did spring rolls and 2 people for a dinner and specialty drink it quickly turns into a $35-$40 meal. But the pho is good. read more

We probably visit this place at least once a week. Hubby consistently orders the #1 Large house special with a spring roll ($8), and the kid and I share the #32 two spring rolls with vermicelli noodles and veggies and sauce ($6.50) and #25 vegetarian Pho ($4). Sometimes we splurge and get the cold Vietnamese coffee: fantastic though strong! The food is out of this world. Best Pho we've ever had, and we've probably been to 20 places. Service is standard for Vietnamese places (almost nonexistant but they get you what you need) and I have to admit that cleaniness is not #1. We like the comfy (though very dated) booths and the TVs and even the Keno sometimes (pure class :) If you like Pho, you have to try this place! read more

This is a small little hole in the wall in a old building, and although the parking lot is very small i am always able to get parking due to the other business is only a second hand store with not many customers. The inside is old and and outdated but i go here for the food not the decor. There is usually 2 waitress's and i have never had a issue with service other then the forgotten spring roll a couple of times. I eat here as between 1 and 5 times a week because it a close tie to the best pho in langley and i have been to every single place. There has to be something said for good food when there is 7 separate locations from what i have been told by the owner. I have been to the location in guildford and it is only second to one other place in whalley that i have yet to find any other pho that is better. My favorite bowl is a large `18 with rice and egg noodles with a spring roll and sometimes deep fried wonton. Don't let the dingy outside turn you off because most pho places are in old buildings. I am Vietnamese and can vouch that this is one of the best and most authentic pho you can get in the lower mainland. I am sure there are good pho around town but Pho Tau Bay is definitely my favorite. It's not a franchise, all 4 restaurants are owned by one extended family although I think the one in Surrey may have been sold, not sure but pho there has declined in taste with my last visit about two weeks ago. read more

I am writing this review with regret, since it is one of my favourite pho restaurants for over 10 years. During a recent visit I was so turned off by the lack of cleanliness and will likely never return. As we walked in there was a staff member mopping the floor, and using his bare hands to pick up dirty bits including pieces of the dirty mop. As we walked in, he greeted us and then WITHOUT WASHING HIS DIRTY HANDS, he brought us menus, water and tea. I saw this all and was so grossed out. Then he took our order, and brought us the standard pho veggie tray, again WITHOUT WASHING HIS DIRTY HANDS. When I went to the bathroom with or young son, there was no soap in the bathroom and barely any in the ladies bathroom that we had to source out. The given the numerous unacceptable and unhygienic issues, I could not enjoy our meal and regret not just leaving upon our arrival to go somewhere else. Again, this makes me so sad since we have been going here for so long read more

Their pho is really good! Broth is tasty! This is our go to place when we're too hungry to cook or when we're trying to cure our hangover. Hope they would upgrade the look of the place. We ordered vietnamese coffee here once and never again. It was pre made and way too sweet. We asked if they could just dump half of it and pour more of the black coffee.
