    pho tai ($16) & pho dac biet ($16) & crab rangoons ($10)
    Chassidie L.

This review is solely for the pho and not for the thai food (minus crab rangoons). Honestly, I would give the pho a 2/5 but the service was good and the server was very kind and attentive. Before we ordered 2 bowls of pho, we had asked for samples of the pho broth. The samples were delicious and flavorful! But when we got our bowls of pho, they were watered down and lacking flavor. I believe they added a little extra flavor to our samples that wasn't represented in our actual dishes. I got the pho tai, and there was only 4 pieces of meat which was unfortunate as well. I would not come here for the pho. We did enjoy our crab rangoon though.

Get the moo ping and Thai tea! The moo ping is BOMB! And Oak (the owner) is the nicest guy on earth with great customer service. Overall very satisfied

Good mood good food good No matter how many times I go, I'm impressed every time. I've been there 5 times already, and everything is great -- the food, the service, and the atmosphere. I should also mention that they have new owners now, and everything has improved a lot. It's been about 8 months since the change, and they're doing an excellent job.

We decided to come here on a whim on a Wednesday around 1:30pm only to find the entire place devoid of customers. Despite this, we stayed and ordered drinks and summer rolls to split. My partner also ordered a bowl of pho. The rolls were fine, but the pho had a bland broth. The hostess who welcomed us was lovely, but our waiter left us with a sour taste. At one point we asked for spoons, and he immediately got us plates and never returned, so we had to track him down to clarify that we wanted spoons. Additionally, he charged us extra because when my partner ordered the pho that already came with meat, the waiter tricked him into ordering extra meat despite the back and forth of my partner confirming that meat was already included. It seems too that there was a language barrier, which shouldn't be an issue, but from the level of service, it seemed like it was this waiter's first day on the job. We were looking for some comfort food, but left feeling frustrated at this experience.

    Drunken Noodle Dinner

Attempted to dine in shortly before our train we had to catch. We walked in and it was a very nice, kind of upscale dining area, and there were only two other parties dining in, since it was on the earlier side of the evening. We placed our order and planned to eat for a few minutes, but also get to-go boxes and the check as soon as the food came out. But 20 minutes later, our food still hadn't come out and we weren't going to be able to dine in at all. We asked to have our food packaged in to-go containers instead of plated, and paid the bill so we could just leave with our food once it came out. Another 10 minutes later, still no food and it was coming down to the wire. Finally, we couldn't wait any longer and we needed to be on the way out the door to get to our train. Just as we were getting up to tell our server to just cancel our order and issue me a refund, she came out with our bag of food. Relieved that we would still have dinner and be able to make our train, we thanked her as we took the bag and made our way to the train. We ate our food on the train. My boyfriend said his Pad See Ew was decent, but I wasn't terribly impressed with my Drunken Noodles. It was greasy and overcooked. The noodles were one mushy pile. And barely any flavor except just spicy (it's supposed to be a spicy basil sauce, but I could not taste any basil). I didn't see any reason our food should have taken that long to get out to us when they didn't seem too terribly busy. Maybe they had a lot of to-go orders, too, but there was only one person who came in to pick up a to-go order while we were there. Our server was very nice and understanding, and she did her best to get the kitchen to get our food out sooner, but I guess there wasn't much she could do. (One review here said something about how good food takes extra time, but this wasn't good enough to warrant that long of a wait. I've had better Drunken Noodles and only needed to wait 10 minutes at peak dinner rush.) We should have picked another place for dinner.

I loved this restaurant!! From the moment I walked in, I could feel the vibe!! The owners were so friendly and welcoming. It's so beautiful inside with the coolest swing seats too. I got to try multiple dishes and they were all so delicious. They offer multiple, beautiful drinks, including boba! It's a must try!!!

I have to say I'm so impressed by Pho Thai! This hidden gem is right in plain sight on Orange Street, and I'm honestly disappointed I hadn't tried them sooner. You HAVE to go on a Friday night when they do their braised lamb shank special - it's by far the best lamb I've ever had in my life. It's so tender and flavorful! It's available for dine in only every Friday. We tried a variety of their most popular menu items and weren't disappointed by any of them. The staff was very attentive with the food coming out quickly, and the restaurant had a nice vibe, especially near the coffee bar with some hanging, swaying chairs. We even had a couple lattes before we left and were impressed by the quality. I would definitely come back here!

Các Món Bún (Bun Grilled Beef Vermicelli)
    Jules Y.

One of my go-to restaurants in New Haven!! I love the Các Món Bún (aka Vermicelli salad bowl), which I usually get with grilled pork. During happy hour they have $1 fried egg roll and fried chicken, as well as deals on drinks. They also have a Lunch Special menu, which is where I ordered the Pad See Ew from and comes with complimentary egg rolls or salad. (I probably wouldn't get it again, though, since it was a bit too salty for my liking and didn't come with that much meat). The restaurant is very spacious, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Please give this place a try!

We went to this place on Saturday night. We ordered a few appetizers , Com Dac with vermicelli and Pho. The appetizers were fine. They were edible. The Pho was fine nothing special about it. But Com Dac with vermicelli didn't come with sauce. I had to ask for sauce and the waiter looked confused and said you want fish sauce? I was like whatever. She brought me just plain fish sauce. I was stunned and couldn't eat it. I had to take it home and made my own sauce. Why would you waste your time and money to come to this place? They don't know what they're doing. I'm so done with this place.

Decent place. I tried them two days ago on Wednesday & back again tonight to try something different on the menu. I started off with the Pork Lemongrass Sausage then went on to the Larb Chicken Salad. Both were good. Service is very efficient and right there when you need or want them. The server was so friendly and accommodating. She was the filling my water very often. I drink a lot of water and need many refills. A little odd though in the restaurant where half of it isn't even being utilized. A large bar with absolutely no stock of bottles on it nor being used. Found this to be strange. Other than that things were great. Bathroom is very small. Very small. It was chilly in the restaurant tonight though 2.28.20

Thai Fried Rice Dinner and Beef Macadamia Dinner

There's a review where someone called it "edible " and that's exactly what it is no more. The service is slow even tho it was us and 2 other tables. We were there for 30 minutes max ( we rushed out after a few bites of our entree). We never got our drinks in those 30 minutes. My calamari was over cooked felt like rubber. The beef in my rice had no flavor and was burnt. Basically it's not authentic 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend.

    Drunken Noodle Lunch special

Great taste. Fresh. Delicious . I miss the Boba drink place that was next door. My order was done fast and I was able to change my spice level.

    Summer Roll
    Julia H.

given that i havent had vietnamese food in New Haven (since I heard there arent many good options) it hit the spot. Specifically, they do a good job with the flavor of the bbq pork. However, it wasnt exactly authentic. I have been to Vietnam and the flavors of the sauces as well as the ingredients were off. for example, the summer rolls were stuffed with lettuce rather than vermicelli and the peanut sauce definitely lacked oyster sauce in it. ive also never seen brocolli and lettuce served with bun in my life

The place had a really nice and chill vibe, really nice decor and a great spot for a somewhat nice lunch. They were serving their lunch menu and I ended up getting the mussels pad Thai, and a chicken curry puff appetizer and a Thai tea. The Thai tea was solid, and the chicken curry puffs were very good. But the stand out was the pad Thai. I've never had a creamy pad Thai and this was amazing. So flavorful. I didn't know what to expect with the mussels but I loved the mussels in the shell and it added a great flavor to the dish! I will definitely be coming back again to order this, and try some of their other items!

Shhh, don't tell anyone!…read more But also tell everyone you know! Let it Be is a chic, cozy little hole in the wall spot on Dixwell which although you can easily miss, you won't want to because it's a legend of a Thai restaurant. AMBIANCE - 8/10 When you walk inside, you're greeted by a familiar friendly smile (? one of the owners) before being seated amongst brightly colorful interior decor. They play relaxing Thai classics and sometimes switch it up with familiar and vibey pop songs. It's a small space, but is never overcrowded, and there's conveniently plenty of parking in the back. FOOD - 9/10 The food here is incredible. I've tried multiple Thai places in and around the New Haven/Hamden area and Let it Be has got them all beat. Not only are the flavors authentic and high quality, but prices are fair and the dishes are well-portioned. Best of all, they're made with so much heart. Every bite has felt like a journey back home to South East Asia. SERVICE - 9/10 The service here has been phenomenal. Our friendly server is welcoming, prompt, and responsive to our needs. When a dish we asked for wasn't available, he took the time to find similar dishes for us. He also takes the time to make friendly conversation and share with us the history of some of the special dishes. Visits here always just feel like a pitstop at a friendly neighbor's. The only thing is that it can take a bit of time for the food to come out, which is natural as the dishes are likely made to order. OVERALL - 9/10 From the Thai staples (pad thai, red and green curries) to the more avant garde (larb kai but in a bánh mì / hoagie style sandwich?! woah!), this place does it all the right way. If you couldn't tell by now, this is my absolute favorite Thai place and I could not recommend it enough. Ally's Recs: Pad Thai (8/10) - cannot go wrong with a classic Pad See Ewe (9/10) - another classic! tastes great with a squeeze of lime Let it Be Thai Curry (9/10) - delicious house curry; they combo the curries well to create a creamy sweet and savory mixture that always leaves you wanting more Thai Tea (8/10) - if you're down for a treat, the condensed milk hits every time! My partner and I went in person for the first time recently, and while we thought the exterior + dining room were unassuming/basic, the food continues to be phenomenal! We ordered the tom yum soup, som tum, pla sam rod with salmon and the duck choo chee. The tom yum soup was one of the best I've had - tangy, spicy and not overly sweet. The som tum unfortunately was sweeter and had less fish sauce and garlic than I would've liked, but the veggies and papaya were super fresh. The salmon pla sam rod and duck choo chee were both fantastic! The pla sam rod sauce was a great balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The salmon and basil were fried perfectly and held up well to the sauce. The duck was also fried perfectly and stayed crispy despite the red curry + coconut milk that coated it. The veggies were also very fresh and kept the dish light. We loved the flavors and textures of the duck choo chee - the red curry was very aromatic and lemongrassy, and the coconut milk added some creaminess. What was not good was the notable discrepancy in price on the website versus the actual prices. So, this review is a PSA because Thai Spice really needs to rectify this immediately and get all of its sites updated. At the time of our order two weeks ago (and at the time that I am writing this review), the website https://thaispiceauthentic.com/ and the PDF menu hyperlink on that website (and the Order Now hyperlinks on the site) all reflect outdated prices. If you access the business via the https://www.yumdthaicuisine.com/ site (immediately confusing because this does not appear to be the current restaurant name, and the sign outside the restaurant says Thai Spice) or if you Google the restaurant and access the Toast site to order, you will get the current, actual prices. But these are way too many variables for a customer to reasonably navigate or to know what is accurate. We ordered the following: - Thai Sampler - We expected to pay $14.96/99 (two prices, one on the PDF and one via the Order Now link); the actual current price is an astounding $22.50 ($15 was a good deal, we thought; $22.50 is not--not for what you get) - Chicken Pad Thai - We expected to pay $13.96/99; the actual price is $14.95 - Yellow Curry - $13.96/99; actual price, $14.95 - Sticky Rice - $3.00; actual price, $4.00 A difference of over $10. Not great.
