The food here is really good and darn right delicious. The vibe and ambiance were modern, artistic, and cool. On this night, when we came in, it was busy! Thankfully, we had reservations, so it was not much of a wait. Unfortunately, due to a busy weekend, our seating options were limited and not ideal, even for only 2 of us. Also, because of how busy the restaurant was, service was a little slower than I would have liked for them to take our order and for the food to come out. The good is that we enjoyed some good drinks and settled in, focusing on the restaurant's good energy and vibe. We shared the Flank steak special, pork wraps, and pad see-ew with flank steak, all of which were so good and a little too much for the two of us. Pricing for everything was reasonable given the type of restaurant and the Yale clientele who come to this place. This restaurant is a RESY location, and it did not disappoint. It's unfortunate because the food here is excellent, but the service is the worst I've ever experienced in my life. I came here with reservations and still had to wait which wasn't a huge deal. However once we were seated, it took an additional 20 min for the waiter to come greet us and take our orders. When he came back with our dishes they were haphazardly placed on the table without any utensils. It took 3 attempts of asking to finally obtain said utensils. The food is EXCELLENT and the manager- Rippon was very nice and helpful and listened to our feedback, so that was appreciated. read more

One of the best restaurants in New Haven! I always love coming to NOA. For appetizers, we got the green beans tempura and the Thai wraps. The Thai wraps are usually very good, but this time they lacked their usual freshness, and it felt like there wasn't enough lettuce wraps. For entrees we ordered the tofu khao soi and the yellow curry with tofu. Both were really good, but the khao soi was the favorite as always. For drinks, we had the Thai iced tea and a virgin lychee margarita. Both were great, but I'm a big fan of a really good Thai iced tea, so that was my favorite. Overall, the ambience here is great and it's always packed with people. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive. Even though they were quite busy our food came out quickly. Personally, I much prefer this place over their sister restaurant, September in Bangkok. If you're in new haven give this place a try! read more

This is my second visit since my first experience was so great. This time, we were a little disappointed. Maybe they were too busy due to graduation weekend? This is my favorite Thai restaurant I've been to! I've eaten here multiple times in the past few months, and everything I've tried has been delicious. Definitely recommend the Khao-soi noodle that has a dairy free curry base, with noodles. The pad see-ew is also a favorite, it's bursting with flavor and hits every time. I recommend adding steak to any dish, they cook it to perfection. The drinks are all delicious and they bring them out in the prettiest decor/cups. My only complaint is that when we went it had a bit too much of a clubby feel, with various lights blasting us in the face periodically when we tried to eat. This was my second time back at NOA. One was for a Yelp event and the other for trivia night on Tuesday's. My Yelp friend invited me to NOA with her so I went to have dinner with her and another friend of mines. I did not try everything but I ordered the Spicy Thai Wings and the Sweetened Pork Sausages. The Thai Hot Wings weren't spicy at all, they had a great crunch, and the sauce had that Sweet Chill type of vibe. A definite must have. The Sweetened Sausages were small but a powerful bite. They were sweet and had a nice char on them. I also tasted my friend's food and she ordered the Duck and Drunken Noodles and boy!! It was delicious. I asked her can I have some more and there is a pretty good size for your order. My foodie friends also had Shrimp, a Pineapple Bowl with Rice and Tofu, Curry Soup, and a salad. All of them said their food was delicious. Trivia Night is really fun and they have specials for food and drinks on Tuesday's for trivia night. Definitely a great place to get elevated yet authentic tasting Thai food. The vibes here are always spectacular and so is the plating! This is my 3rd time coming here and every time I come it keeps getting better and better. Their cocktails are delicious (and strong) and the food is always flavorful. My personal favorites are the drunken noodle and yellow curry! Others love the tamarind shrimp! But the drunken noodle is definitely one of my favorites of all time, it's spicy, hint of sweet, and perfect amount of peppers/basil. I recommend coming on Tuesday nights because they have trivia at 8pm! Trivia is so so fun and they have discounted drinks as well. I love seeing people enjoying southeast asian food because I grew up with it. It's what my family cooks and it is my comfort food. I enjoyed everything I ate last night at trivia night. Tom kha gai creamy coconut chicken soup was super rich and flavorful. It had pieces of chicken breast, slices of shiitake mushrooms and grape tomatoes in it. It was great for an extremely cold evening. Drunken noodles with duck was a group favorite. Flat, wide rice noodles were cooked till soft and chewy. Flavors of Thai basil and a little kick of heat paired well together. The duck could've been cooked to a nice medium. It was a bit over done for me but wasn't dry. The dipping sauce for the duck was very fish sauce forward. I wish the duck was marinated with flavor so you can eat it with the noodles. I felt like I was eating two different dishes but it was really one dish. Highly recommend the noodle dishes here. The pad see ew is another favorite with the same type of flat, wide rice noodles. Curry chicken was served with white rice. It had a little bit of vegetables on there but if it was cooked with red or green peppers it would've given a better presentation to the dish. Still very flavorful. Laab tofu was served with lettuce, radishes and cucumbers. We usually eat it with rice at home too but you want the fresh produce to balance the savory, sour and umami flavors. I've never had it with tofu but my friend is a vegetarian so it was interesting and flavorful. The toasted sticky rice in the laab truly shines through. I would eat it again. Fried shrimp with tamarind sauce was so delightful. Shrimps were huge, fried to perfection in a light tempura batter and drizzled with tamarind sweet and sour sauce. It's also served with lettuce, radishes and white rice. I'd order this again. Thai hot wings had a tasty sticky siracha sauce on it. It was sweet with a tiny kick to it. Chicken wings were delicious. The rock sausage is served in a cute little basket over a bed of lettuce and sliced radishes. I would eat this with rice at home. The sausage was juicy and sweet. Very tasty. Pineapple tofu fried rice had a beautiful presentation served in half of a pineapple. It was tasty and very pretty to look at! Thai iced tea was sweet, creamy and refreshing. Sangria and lychee mojito was very good. The bar area is beautiful. The restaurant was packed. Atmosphere is beautiful. I wish all the food came out at the same time so our group of 6 could've eaten together. Dishes came out one by one and food got cold. Also, the music could be turned down a tad so we could hear one another at the table. All in all, I recommend this wonderful restaurant and I'd love to return to try different dishes. read more

I got the flu and everything in my fridge sounded disgusting so I ordered take out. I got the pad se ew with chicken. It was good and satisfied my Thai cravings. The portion size was good. There was plenty of chicken and the noodles weren't overcooked. I ordered through Uber Eats and it was delivered very quickly. I came to NOA with a lunch reservation, and thoroughly enjoyed my food. I ordered the papaya salad, chicken wings, larb tofu, and steak dish. All of the dishes were perfectly seasoned and tasted fresh. I loved the amount of veggies in our dishes. Rankings by dish: #1 larb tofu- the tofu was crispy and bite sized. I thought it was perfectly paired with the lettuce provided and I would love to learn how to make this recipe at home. #2 steak- the steak was fabulous. It was seasoned well and not too overcooked. I also loved the bell peppers, broccoli, and other veggies it was paired with. A well cooked steak hits different! #3 papaya salad- the papaya salad was very saucy, but it still was very fresh. Maybe next time I'd ask for less fish sauce, but other than the salad to sauce ratio, it was amazing. Ever since moving to Connecticut about 10 years ago, I've been on the hunt for a restaurant that was able to meet my needs for really delicious Thai and Asian fusion dishes. I've tried so many over the years and had truly given up hope. I came to NOA for a friend's birthday dinner with limited expectations and was pleasantly surprised, thankfully! To be 100% truthful, I had visited the September ending location previously and was very underwhelmed by the food and experience. I wanted to love it so badly, but it just didn't stack up... This spot however is another story. The ambience, food, and service were absolutely wonderful, especially when it comes to navigating a larger group for a celebration dinner. Our waiter was able to effortlessly manage the incoming requests for about 12 diners and we all really enjoyed our meals. The drunken noodles were some of the best that I've had in a really long time and I can't wait to go back and have them again! The spice level was on point, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the layers of flavor were out of this world. At first glance, I was really impressed with the drink menu. However, many of the cocktails featured egg whites, which I'm not particularly fond of so that dissuaded me from trying a few options (that sounded great, minus the egg!). Went on a roadtrip with a couple friends and met up with some mutual friends here. They were very accommodating as the friends we met had a baby and they moved us to a more spacious table. The food was great! I unfortunately wasn't too hungry and only had the Tom Kha soup with shrimp - but I couldn't get enough of it. I deducted a star mainly because it was frustrating to coordinate with the restaurant. My friend had left her windbreaker but when we called the next day after they opened they said they don't hold on to personal items and it was likely thrown out and they didn't seem keen to fully check for it on the phone. read more

ORIGIN: Win (Winyu) Settamyae, chef and owner of September in Bangkok, opened this second New Haven location in 2022. Settamyae came to the US from northern Thailand as a student, and later apprenticed in restaurant kitchens. The restaurant name -- NOA -- means delicious in his native Thai dialect. LOCATION: NOA is located near many Yale area attractions and destinations, making it an easy option when planning an evening out. CONCEPT: Settammyae reportedly looked to reach a younger crowd at this offshoot. Dishes served are inspired from the traditions of his family's region, complemented by a large menu of colorful, Insta-ready Thai-inspired cocktails. EXPERIENCE: The prominence of the bar, which stretches across nearly the entire length of the restaurant, and extended bar hours and daily happy hour specials highlight the target audience for this venue. I came with a friend, who recommended that we try NOA for Happy Hour before our dinner reservation elsewhere. Likely as a nod to college age crowd, we found the different cocktails we sipped to be sweet, hiding any liquor quality that may have been present. There are so any happy hour options across the Yale area, so it is unlikely that I will return, but if you prefer sweet cocktails, NAO is a good destination for happy hour. I recommend the string bean tempura appetizer, which was attractively plated and tasted great. Wings can be purchased for $1 each. ATMOSPHERE: I arrived on a Friday evening at 5 PM and found the restaurant surprisingly empty except for two clusters of nano-Instagrammers who were intensely shooting photos of a colorful display of Happy Hour drinks and dishes for the restaurant. The painted brick space is decorated with hanging umbrellas and a sculpture imported from Thailand, but with few guests, and only two windows at the entrance, it felt like I was in someone's ernestly decorated suburban basement. This is likely less evident when the restaurant is more populated. The plastic laminated menu I received at the bar was sticky, and I visited the restroom to wash my hands before nibbling on the string bean tempura. I found the path to the bathroom area reminiscent of a dive bar, reinforcing the recollections that stirred in my mind when touching the menu. TIP: Happy Hour is available at the bar only between 4 and 7. read more
