AMAZING PHO. I will qualify that statement with the fact that I lived in Hawaii for a year and ate in China town multiple times per week there and experienced all the authentic Asian cuisines and Pho joints that they had to offer. I am somewhat misled and angered by the other reviews that have condemned this restaurant and prevented me from trying it for so long. I wish I started eating here long ago, but didn't because my fellow Yelpers dissuaded and misguided me. I am here to tell you that this place does Pho right. I honestly just think the good folk of Glen Burnie MD wouldn't know a good Pho if it reached out and bit them in the... Face? My 3rd try was my last. Pho had minimal meat included, basically broth. I had to ask for the "extras" as in mint, bean sprouts etc that you add in. Its a bad example if introducing someone to try Phantastic Pho. Owner is RUDE. Its beyond language barrier. I called to order and got hung up on. I went in person to order thinking number was off. Doing them a favor I thought i'd explain this happened. It was ignored, so I said it again. His reply back was "never mind the number" what do you want? Well nothing was the answer. They should rename this place Pho Tragic. The fresh rolls were filled with mostly lettuce, barley any vermicelli and the shrimp was sliced too thin. The peanut sauce that came with it was filled with so much peanuts that I couldn't dip my roll into it. I got the number #1 and the broth was loaded with msg. Don't get me wrong, I understand there needs to be some msg but this was extreme. I couldn't even finish 1/4 of the pho and had to take it home. Lady gave me a plastic bowl container for my soup and my single fresh roll. Like wtf??? Am I supposed to put my fresh roll into my soup? I had to ask her for another separate container. She went and got that for me. Then I had to ask for a plastic bag to put my items in. Horrible service. Got home and tried to finish it but ended up throwing the rest away. I was nearby running errands and really wanted spring rolls. I called in an order and picked up spring rolls and a lemonade. The restaurant was very warm inside. I love this place. Simple menu - mostly just pho, but it's delicious. The owners are amazing. So friendly and welcoming! If you go more than a few times, they will remember what you like. I'm always greeted with a smile. I highly recommend the #2 pho, and the #5 and #7 is always a good choice. My boyfriend has dined with me here several times as well and loves the chicken pho. When this place was Pho 98, it was mediocre. I just went again a few days ago and it's much, much better. The broth is full of flavor, and the beef and shrimp are both great. I am not Vietnamese....just as a disclaimer....however in the past 30 years I have eaten thousands of bowls of Pho. In fact I have travelled to HCMC Vietnam just to eat and try various Pho. I am a Pho enthusiast for sure. So here I am travelling to Maryland, thought I would give this place a try. When I walked in, it smelled like incense, and not food. I like to small good food when I walk into a restarant. I was hesitant about staying and placing an order, but I did anyway. Well.......they did not have Pho Dac Biet, but I ordered something similiar, and all in all it was suprisingly not bad. I expected to be very disappointed. So.......I guess don't judge a book by its cover. The taste of the brother was hardy and bold.....and the noodle texture was pretty good also. I would go back again. read more

This is not the best pho place in Maryland, but if you're hungry and in need of pho and close by, it's not a bad option. It's run by a Chinese family, so don't expect authentic pho, but they put in lots of meat and the veggies are fresh, and the only complaint I have are the noodles are often stuck together and require some pushing around to separate. The spring rolls are pretty standard and I like their peanut sauce. The rest of the menu is like a standard chinese restaurant, all lo mein and stir fry, so I have never gotten anything else there except the pho. The large is pretty big and I'm usually satisfied with the small, but if you don't specify, they will give you the large bowl. If you're gonna ask for really complicated things, there might be a language barrier, b/c their English is not the most fluent. Bottom line, good place for emergency pho, but there is better elsewhere. read more

The place looks tidy and clean but the place smells greasy. The service was fast and the food taste okay. My husband had the steamed chicken dumplings which turned out to be the best thing from what we ordered... He also had chicken fried which was extremely salty. I had a big plate fried tofu for appetizer - it was very crispy but the sauce didn't have much flavor/ just plain sweet & sour sauce and the grilled chicken with white rice and egg and it was just salty enough- the fresh vegetables and plain rice was a good compliment. We love Pho-my husband, two elementary-aged children & I. We have tried Pho in places in HOCO, CA, & NYC. Pho98 in Glen Burnie is GOOD! Very Good!! We ordered spring rolls (the crunchy ones) and found that they were pleasantly crunchy, perfectly cooked & tasty. My son is an avid spring roll eater & he LOVED them. We each had a bowl of Pho and found the broth to be delicious. The eye round steak was TENDER. We then finished off dinner with bubble teas. The teas are topped with a secure film like King Fu Bubble teas, but the teas here were by far more delicious. Food arrived quickly, and each table was prepped with napkins, chopsticks (plastic & wrapped disposable), sauces & silverware. Service was good: not annoying but warm and everything we needed throughout the meal was taken care of. We are SO coming back- this is our new Pho place!! read more

It only gets one star because the zero option was not available. I purchased vegetable eggrolls and a thai iced tea. The purchase was approximately 10 dollars, I gave her a $20 bill, and she returned only one dollar and 48 cents. I was distracted because she threatened me with SHRIMP, when I am allergic to seafood. She also had a runny nose, which is completely unhygienic. To add insult to injury, she made my "iced tea," which was the color of a oompa loompa (she added milk, which is not added to iced tea). This is the best Pho I've had in Maryland by a long shot. The broth and veggies were absolutely loaded with flavor.

My wife and I came here years ago and it was not good, but they are now under new management and everything is much better. It wasn't the best bowl of pho I've ever had, but it was comparable to the best in the area. It also seems to actually be Vietnamese-run now. The summer rolls were good, the Thai tea was good and the taro slushy was good. Very clean and pleasant inside. Nice to have another local option besides Life Pho. read more

We love this place, as well as the one in Laurel. It has been on our restaurant regular rotation for several years. The husband and wife who own these places are incredible. Unfortunately, it seems that they have sometimes had a hard time finding good cooks to replicate their recipes. Her fried rice is seriously the best I have ever had, but she is mostly in Laurel. Her husband's version of it at the Glen Burnie location is very good as well. It hasn't been quite as good on occasion when they have been trying to get outside help. This is the case with the Pho also. I have never had a bad spring roll there. I can't speak to many of the other items on the menu, as we were hooked on the pho and fried rice from the start. I would definitely give this place another chance if you had a bad experience. Its a family run business and not always easy to get good help. Whenever we have had a meal not quite up to their normal quality we have noticed that after a few more weeks there is usually some turnover. We have many friends we have brought here and now go regularly as well. You can't really beat the amount and quality of the food for the price. In fact, I am about to go pick up some take out from there as well. Keep in mind the pho doesn't always work quite as well with take out. Putting it all together at home may take some experimentation. The noodles tend to stick and the meat doesn't always cook through right. However, with a little practice and occasional help from the microwave with the broth its totally worth it. read more

I went here several years ago when the owners were Chinese, there was hip hop music playing in the background and the food was insanely awful. Recently, my mom told me they went under new management and said it was really good Pho. Well, I came in and was welcomed into a warm atmosphere of Vietnamese music and the correct aromatic smell of roasted spices used to make Pho. I was excited! So I order my bowl of Pho and.... ...and it was really good!!! Nice flavorful broth, fresh chewy noodles and a decent serving of meat. Not as good as the Vietnamese places in Arlington, VA but definitely on par with the Pho place in Severna Park. The service was fine. Our server was pretty nice and kept us happy. Hopefully the name of this place will change to attract new customers. For all those who don't really know, you don't normally get the type of service that you do at American restaurants. Most servers at more legitimate hole in the wall asian restaurants bring you your food, refill your drinks when you ask them to and then bring you your check. That's it. I've noticed a few other reviewers tried the food under the new management. Not sure of the negative reviews of the food. It's possible they were working out the kinks but I thought it was pretty good and I've eaten Vietnamese food my entire life. I've eaten Vietnamese food my entire life so maybe I am a little bit of a snob about it, but no one in their right mind should have liked the food made under the previous owners. If they did, then they probably have never tasted good Vietnamese food. That or they don't really like real Vietnamese food. read more

Excellent authentic Pho noddle soup. Broth is very flavorful, veggies are super fresh and the fried tofu was cut into strips which compliments every bite. I ordered take out and they packaged it perfectly. Broth in a large container on the side - all the fixings including jalapeño slices, lime wedges, (fresh/ snappy) bean sprouts, fresh herbs, hoisin & Sriracha (or a similar hot sauce though I used sambal oelek that I had in my fridge - if you don't have it you can request it) The portion is large and they also gave both utensils napkins and chopsticks so it's great for picking up for a work lunch. Everything from the herbs crunchy fried onions and fresh onions broccoli, carrots, corn were included in the dish and the rice noodles separated nicely after pouring over the broth and allow them to absorb for a moment. I wish I took a picture but I ate it all too quickly ! So yummy. The inside wasn't spectacular but plenty of tables to come in to eat. Give this place a try it's worth it. read more

Thanks for bringing pho to Glen Burnie. Pho 98 is the wife of Pho 89 in Laurel. Basically, if you liked the husband's cooking, you will like the wife's cooking, too. It was the first time I took a phoTO GO as I was not really hungry at that time and was still shopping. Unfortunately, the noodles got sticky and the beef shreds were rare. I suggest that if you have TO TAKE OUT food that you cook the beef as the broth would not be warm enough to make the beef shreds well done. I forgot, it was only a microwave away. You could microwave it, but I don't know if the noodles will cooperate. I look forward to more warm, slurpee noodles soup relationship. Photanstic! Additional star for location. The pho is NOT very good. I kinda figured when I walked in and they were speaking Chinese. The fact that some people liked it means they have no idea what pho is, unfortunately. Came here on a week night and the place was pretty empty. Ordered my pho, I always choose #1 at any pho place. The pho was NOT good. I'm Vietnamese so I know my pho. Would it even be considered pho? The noodles were stuck together, broth was salty and not a good flavor. I shouldn't have to pour a bunch of sauce in it just to try to finish it. The service was okay. I took my friend for her first pho experience. The service was excellent. Then again we came just after the lunch rush. But the two people who came in to pick up carry out were both frequent customers and talked about how much they love this place. We both got the lunch special which was an unbelievable $10 for the biggest bowl of pho I've ever had and 2 spring rolls each. I got the beef and my friend got the chicken. I loved the broth. I didn't add anything to my bowl because I thought it all tasted so good. My friend had a lot of fun playing with the bean sprouts and the spices. I was really excited when I first noticed a Pho place in this little plaza, but unfortunately the food was was extremely disappointing. I got rare steak pho. The broth was bland, and the noodles tasted like they were cooked with butter?! I've eaten here twice. The first time I got standard beef pho and it was ok, maybe a 3/5 but I felt like it was a little on the pricey side for a pho place. Plus really skimpy on the limes, basil and jalapeños. Second time I decided to try something else and it was AWFUL. I decided to try their seafood pho expecting the fresh whole shrimp, clams and fish in fish/chicken base. What they brought to me was frozen shrimp, funky tasting small mussels, IMITATION CRAB MEAT (!) and some octopus (that was bizarrely enough fresh and tasty) in a bowl of beef pho broth. I honestly don't think they had any idea of how to make seafood pho and thinking back on my two dining experiences and the reviews here it is all adding up. For one the place seems to be always dead and I've never, not once seen a Vietnamese customer in there which is the opposite of nearby Ms Saigon. Speaking of Vietnamese; the staff don't sound Vietnamese... I don't speak a word of either language but they sound much more like Chinese to me- I could be totally wrong but something just seemed off. Now, they never have Vietnamese customers and they apparently don't know how to make any Vietnamese dishes properly other than the beef pho (my seafood pho experience and the multiple summer roll and peanut sauce stories here on yelp)... And again, I may be totally wrong but I get the feeling the owner is some Chinese guy that decided to try to cash in on the pho fad but really has no clue what he is doing beyond basic beef pho. Overall, it is slightly pricier than other pho places, the beef pho is average and the other food sucks. Go the two miles down the road for Ms Saigon.
