I would go with 2.5 stars for this place but that Singapore Fried Rice was frickin amazing - it deserved 2 stars on its own. We ordered some dishes that we thought couldn't go wrong: the Szechuan style green beans and crispy beef. It was inedible. The chicken curry with onion was decent for the flavor, but the consistency was watery. The winning dish was the Singapore fried rice which is fried rice mixed with curry. Haven't seen this anywhere else, so this was a great find, but everything else, I can definitely leave it. Service was fine. It's a typical American Chinese carryout. Well as Chinese restaurants go, it's pretty standard. It's a small space so seating really isn't an option and after the lockdowns, I guess they realize their niche is delivery and/or pick-up service. First, i'm sure this isn't a big deal but they have a $10 minimum requirement for using a card. Because I wasn't overly hungry, I had to over order to get what I wanted. I ordered an egg roll, port wontons, and a large box of rice. I know, it's a weird order but I wasn't overly hungry but wow, the food was good! Egg rolls can be hit or miss depending on how the restaurant works but these were flavorful, filled with lots of cabbage and pork (I think) crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. Their egg rolls are reminiscent of a restaurant I frequented in Sioux Falls, SD. I was impressed. The fried wontons were a little different. I was surprised at the amount of pork that was in them but on the flip side, while they were crispy, I got the feeling they were made with several layers of wrappers which made it hard to break into and eat. Still, it was tasty and they all got eaten! White rice is something I can eat alone or with something. It was pretty standard but it was good. The Hot/sour soup tasted bland and the mushrooms were not completely sliced, wonton soup was just as bad, the rice was dumped in soy sauce. I was under some pretty strict dietary guidelines that had me avoiding most vegetables, but I wanted to eat at least semi-healthy so we opted to order from Hot Wok. The Chicken Fried Rice was okay, nice and sticky, and easy to eat around all the peas, carrots, onions, and bean sprouts. We ordered the Meat Candy appetizer, I forget what it's actually called, but it's strips of beef coated in a sweet sauce. It was a big portion, and filling up on handfuls of meat does make for a great dinner. My wife was disappointed with the Ma Po Tofu. Apparently it is not the classic version of the dish, but I found the supersoft tofu in a black soup quite edible. She also wasn't wild about the Sweet & Sour soup, but that might be our fault. I was very underwhelmed with their food. I ordered the general TSO's chicken "not spicy" with fried rice, egg roll and steamed pork dumplings. The chicken tasted NOTHING like the general tsos I have been eating all my life. It had a very different flavor profile then I have ever had. I had only two small pieces of broccoli in my rice and there was way more rice then chicken in my entree. The egg roll was okay but nothing to write home about. I did like the pork dumplings, I ate all of those. But that's not enough to bring me back to the location. The delivery took about an hour to get to my home. I ordered shrimp egg foo young, their brown sauce was light and rich and the meal melt in your mouth. I also had Crab rangoon It was good it wasn't greasy like most places. My boyfriend head Beef with mushrooms and it was to die for!!!!! With their meal because we went over the allotment we were given a free pint a pork fried rice which was delicious.. When staying at an airport hotel because you have a flight early the next morning, you're not looking for five star dining. Mushrooms were in the fried rice. - Beef in the Thai Basil beef had that all too common spongy feel of old meat or something. That said, the sauce and flavoring of this dish was tasty. - Thai Coconut soup...really? There were a fair helping of vegetables. But I do not believe I could ever see this being called Thai coconut soup. There was just enough coconut to tint the broth. No, I am not being nit picky here. I am saying that compared to the coconut soup I've had at 20+ restauraunts. This was about 5% thickness. Imagine a quart of soup with a tablespoon of cocunut at best added. It was cloudy water with vegetables. Very disappointing. THE EXPERIENCE: (far worse than the food) - We were given three plates for a family of 5. Seriously, we had to repeatedly ask for more plates. - And silverware. We were given two sets of silverware. My children would like to eat too. Do you think a 5 year old is incapable of using a spoon? - We were given no bowls for the soup. When I asked for bowls they grudgingly gave me a small soup container. Finally I talked them into giving me a few styrofoam cups to use for soup. What did they expect my family to do? pass the soup around in circles. *** I am sorry, if a business is going to be this negligent, and hem and haw because I am simply asking for plates, spoons and bowls to eat with. Then they really need to remove the dining tables and label themselves "Take-Out Only". I'd probably give them 3 stars for takeout. The food was okay. I liked that they had some Thai influenced dishes. Even if they were sub-par for Thai. But the dining experience was one of the worst I'd ever experienced. I wager if one or two people dine in, it'll be an okay experience. You'll each have an entree with a plate and each be given silverware. But I would avoid any family or group coming here to dine in. We started ordering from this place when we had abysmal delivery service from the similarly named "Szechuan Hot Wok" nearby. Never had a bad thing here. Delivery is extremely prompt. Sometimes we've gotten our food in under a half hour. Portions are generous. Lots of vegetarian items on the menu. They've also got a Thai menu that I haven't been adventurous enough to order from. CONS: -- I always have to ask how long it will be for the food to be ready for pick-up or for it to be delivered. This is not a big thing, but it always leaves me wondering why they don't just tell you. -- Not really an "eat in" type of restaurant. Wary of menus handed out in hotels so always check Yelp. This place got 3 1/2 stars and OK reviews so I thought it would be safe. Well, nope. Ordered Hot and Sour Soup and Pad Thai. Got free egg roll using menu coupon. The egg roll was the best part. Tough skin but filling ok and not greasy. Soup was not--red chili oil used to give hot taste rather than the appropriate black pepper, broth tasteless and underseasoned and could detect the sour component. It was full of veggies, including fresh mushrooms, but couldn't get beyond the oily broth so I couldn't eat much. The Pad Thai also didn't resemble the real thing except it did have rice noodles and a little shrimp & chicken. No tang of line, no fish sauce, no peanut. It was also greasy but managed to eat half. Was not mushy at all. Smelled amazing. Golden fingers - crispy. Crunchy. Meaty. Yummy. Fried chunks of chicken. Can't go wrong. Reg egg roll - hearty. Was so glad that it wasn't like every other lame frozen egg roll I've ever had, with the the mushy pungent celery and carrots. Food is very good. They're lunch specials are a great deal. They have some off moments but are usually very consistent the spicy sczechuan dishes with chicken and shrimp along with roast pork are very good. I've tried the pad Thai and have not ordered Thai food from here since. Stick with the Chinese food. We purchased chicken lo mein, beef with vegetables, and hunan chicken. The beef tasted like shrimp (fishy), the lo mein had hairs in it, and the hunan chicken had no flavor. This place has always been hit or miss, but this last purchase totaling $29 was really a waste of money. I called and complained, but was given no option by operator for refund.
