Used to be Pho Santee. They remodeled the place after it changed hands, and now it looks a lot cozier and modern. They are right by the Cuyamaca Animal hospital in a center that is less busy than the one pho ca dao is in, so parking is never an issue. The pho and the orange chicken were delicious. This place had incredible food reviews and I was wanting to give it a try. Well I called the number on the website thinking this was the place... well it has 2 locations and I had no idea. My friend goes to the address that I thought I called and they said no order here! I called the number and she said no this is the other location. Many miles away like 25) I don't know how I got mixed about but they took care of it!!!!!! She said " no problem, I will transfer your order to the other location" I even cried. Because I'm feeling so lousy and then I messed this up. At any rate this right here!! Has gained them a customer for life! I will never ever go anywhere else. Best pho in Santee, hands down. All the people who work here are extremely welcoming, friendly and professional. I work right next to another pho place and would go completely out of my way to go here. The food here tastes so much better and authentic. We moved from Mira Mesa where we had an abundance of Asian restaurants and finding this place was the best thing since moving to Santee. And when I say all the guys who work here are extremely friendly.. I don't mean just for a pho restaurant.. I mean they have exceptional customer service. Don't go anywhere else when your around Santee and craving some delicious Vietnamese food. This will not disappoint. Guaranteed. During the shut down, we were sad thinking they had closed down but are happy to say they are open! And even have outdoor dining! Even when we order to go they ALWAYS GET THE ORDER RIGHT. I ordered here a couple of times. I've tried their pho, spring rolls, bun bo hue, and fried rice. The pho is slightly different than what I'm used to but it's still good! The spring rolls are always fresh and such a great price for how big the rolls are (I've tried spring rolls from another pho place down the street and the meat/ veggies were wilted and had a funny old meat taste to it). Service and food were fantastic! We shared the vegetarian egg rolls. They were fried perfectly and were crispy. I had the salty lemonade and it was amazing. My husband had the iced espresso with condensed milk and number 01 all combo Pho. He was very pleased with both. I had the rice noodle & egg noodle with shrimp. Both noodles were cooked perfectly and it had lots of shrimp. I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The staff was attentive and made sure everything was to our liking. PHO is probrably one of my favorite dishes to have in San Diego,but, with all of the Pho resturaunts it's hard sometimes to find that one that just has it's all from customer service to the amazing food put in front of you. I'm a food lover. For me, I consider ambiance as a distant second relative to how good the food is. Pho Van is one of my top 2-3 Vietnamese restaurants, with Pho being one of my favorite foods. Everything starts with the broth. It needs to begin the night before with all the right ingredients. Next are the ingredients - they must be plentiful and fresh. Just enough veggies and meat, and just enough noodles. The first glorious sip says it all. Great food is when you stop talking in the middle of a bite - you can't believe what you are tasting - that is Pho Van. Every bite disrupts your thought process. I had the combo pho with a side of egg rolls. My son had steak and rice (delicious), my wife had chicken and rice (yummy). I washed it down with iced Vietnamese coffee - perfect. The cost was average, sizes were large and the staff was like their food - outstanding. I made a joke asking for a hamburger with jalapenos and fried onions - it was a joke! The waiter knew I was kidding and actually had the chef grill me onions and flame broil two jalapenos, in garlic. Why? Just because! And it was AWESOME - at no cost. C'mon! Pho Van is in a Santee strip mall - it's clean and nice, but that's not why you go. It's for the food and people. Hands down best pho in San Diego. I've been going to their spot on El Cajon Blvd for over 10 years and I was hoping that this was going to be the same quality as their OG spot. It definitely is! They also serve beer here now too!! The food is stellar. The broth is the best I've ever had. The wings are so good. Egg rolls are incredible. The place is clean. The people are super nice. Super clean! Staff are all wearing masks and they are separating all patrons accordingly. Pho broth was so flavorful, I do not even need to add any hoisin sauce or any extra sauce. We used to go to another pho joint around the block but the service got worse and worse. I took my Mom because she's super picky and needy (moms lol) Right off the bat the server greeted us in Spanish and my mom was shook! LOL. The servers actually wait on you every 10-15 mins and we didn't have to waive them down for absolutely anything. They really give you your money's worth of pho, the regular bowl is quite enough and my mom & I might just get one for both of us next time. They were super friendly to my daughter and patient. Most pho places that I would go to had a very big brothy smell and I mean I get it they need to cook that broth for hours but sometimes the smell would get really pungent and this place doesn't have that at all. We kept ordering their combination pho soup and love it! Delicious and not limiting the toppings. My son loved their seafood fried rice and kept ordering it when he craves for it.
