best pho place i've been to hands down! and yes, better than pho ca dao if anyone is wondering. their pho broth is so flavorful that i don't need to add anything to it, and their portions are pretty big even for a regular. i normally don't eat meat so it's nice to see they have a vegan/vegetarian section of the menu. service is great and food comes out fairly quick. i ordered the vegetarian egg rolls, thai tea, along with their plain noodle pho and everything was soooooo good. i refuse to go to another pho restaurant after eating here. 10/10 recommend! read more

I love some good vegetarian pho and this hit the spot (and nice on the wallet since it was 50% off)! My boyfriend was very happy with his vegetarian stir fry dish. I had a sip of my friends smoothie and it was delicious. The owner(?) also let us know that they have vegan mock meat even though it wasn't mentioned on the menu. We didn't know that Pho Santee was closed and kind of hesitated before going in. WOW! What a huge improvement in the appearance, but more importantly, the quality of the food. We're plant based, so not as many vegan selections as the old place, but still enough to keep us quite satisfied. The quality of the food is MUCH better, and the service by our server/host was incredible! They've only been open a couple of weeks, but they seem to have all the kinks of a new restaurant ironed out. Highly recommend the 21B (with veggie broth) for any Plant Based eaters. Also, they are NOT listed on the menu, but the server told us they do have mock chicken, beef and pork, just need to let them know when you are ordering that you're plant based/vegan and they'll let you know what they can do. read more

This pho place is our new go to location. Instead of driving to El Cajon for pho we finally have a place that have decent and flavorful broth. The food portion is big and the price is about right, considering how much pho cao charges for lesser quality food. The service is better than pho cao for sure. read more

Decided to try a new Vietnamese place when I was craving pho and really so glad that I did. It's obvious that this place is just getting started, but the food was fantastic. I got the number 3 pho and first reaction was how big the bowl was because I had gotten the regular size and this bowl was huge, but I'm sort of used to that at pho places and it was so good I took what I couldn't finish to go. The pho tasted so fresh and hot and usually you don't get too much meat in your bowl but they gave me so much! I know the bowl I ordered came with lots of different types of meat but didn't think I'd get so much that at first I thought wow there's more meat than noodles, but nope! the noodles were underneath the meat. Seriously so happy with how much food I got, super reasonable price too! My boyfriend also got a large vermicelli dish with shrimp and pork and eggrolls and it was so delicious, the fish sauce was also fresh and tasted so good. Nothing tasted like it was pumped full of MSG like most pho places. This is a wonderful, family owned Vietnamese restaurant and it is amazing and I hope to see it flourish. It's now our go-to spot for pho and now that it's getting cooler out I'll be in much more often! If I could say one thing that needs to be changed, they don't have milk tea bobas, and I actually was really looking forward to a good milk tea with my food, so maybe they could add that in somewhere. Clean and modern. We were greeted with smiles and happy voices. I was expecting the usual fare. So I ordered the special beef pho. Wow! I was totally blown away!!! The best beef broth I have ever had!! This pho fed my soul! With brisket, tripe, and tendon. All the familiar toppings. The noodles were excellent! Along with this , we ordered shrimp spring tools. Outstanding! Fresh and delicious! The veggies were all fresh and crisp. Very large portions! Everything was expertly crafted and upscale. This is one the the best Vietnamese restaurants in town! I guess we must've came in on a bad day since all of the reviews are 4+ stars. We were greeted by a friendly guy who sat us and gave us our water. The waiter came up to us however, and all he said was "yes?". That's it. My husband and I both ordered the Chicken Pho. Although the chicken was juicier than most places I've been to, it seemed like we got the bottom of the barrel pickings because every piece had a giant piece of fat attached to it. The broth was super watery and didn't have much flavor. Again, the busser was very nice and the waiter did check on us frequently which is a plus. I will probably go back to try something else, but the Pho wasn't my fave. read more

I was born and raised here in San Diego and my mother is vietnamese so I know good pho when I taste it (nothing compares to homemade pho though). Pho Hoa (cows head) on el cajon blvd is one of the top pho places in san diego (I've been going there since the early 90's) and I can HONESTLY say Pho Van in Santee is at that level. My family and I moved out east in 2010 and it's hard finding a good pho place. I had frequently eaten here under the previous owner and their pho was alright but I only came for their other vietnamese dishes and not their pho. I would go down the street to Pho Ca Dao if I wanted pho. My husband was craving pho and hes not picky and I was craving egg noodle soup so we came here and noticed it changed ownership! Apparently they were even closed for construction for a while. Anywho, he ordered pho and I got egg noodle soup with seafood. Mine was delicious! Better tasting than the last owner and my husband didn't say anything about his food because PHO IS PHO to him. So I gave his a try and not even kidding, I wished I'd of gotten pho. It really is good! We are definitely returning so I can try out more dishes! Pho Ca Dao just lost a few customers and Pho Van just gained a new fan. Don't sleep on this restaurant y'all! read more

I was so excited to try this place after the old establishment closed and my usual go to pho went down hill. This is the new pho hot spot in east county. I wouldn't recommend the Stir Fry #76 and #73 on the menu. They put a small amount of burnt thick rice/ chow mein noodles at the bottom of the plate and absolutely layer it with a very strange combination of meats, seafood, and vegetables. The pathai that the original Pho Santee had before was unbeatable. This new version has left me completely unsatisfied and I threw away the left overs. I think that the hot dog flavored sausage that's in it just ruined it for me. Not to mention, all of the meats were dry and there was a huge puddle of salty, bitter juice at the bottom. Definitely don't recommend this plate. read more
