My gf took me here after the airport to try the traditional sizzling platter that she used to have back home. I got combo with meatball hotdog steak strip and two over easy egg. It came with two sauce pour on the meat like gravy and a sweet tomato sauce similar to marinara on the meatball. Over all it was a good dish. Probably would have preferred the sauce on the side as they collided with each other. Gravy for steak and tomato base with the meatball. Protein was good just the sauce didnt sit well. It also came with a toasted French bread. I also got the ice coffee with sea salt cream and it was too sweet.

Place is small. Order at the counter and bring your number to the table. Food took longer than I expected, but I was delicious and when we got it!

I tried my first ever banh cuon here, and I've been obsessed with this dish ever since. I love how beautifully it's plated and the slurpable texture of the rice rolls. It also came with a lot of things on the side like some Vietnamese meats, bean sprouts, mung bean cake, cucumbers, etc which made the dish feel complete! I could see some people thinking this dish is bland, but I honestly love more mild flavors like this, and the fish sauce it comes with definitely adds a lot of flavor. The banh mi chao is a dish I've had many times before, and the one here was great! Came with all the usual toppings, and the baguette that came with it was nice and fluffy. Coffee here was yummy and a good price. I thought the banh cuon was also a good price at the time, but after a few months of going around to different Vietnamese places, I've found that you can find the same quality for much cheaper. Still would recommend checking this spot out though! Super helpful workers when I had lots of questions and a nice homey vibe inside.

Nice place to get some yummy banh cuon and banh mi chao! Came on a Sunday and there was a line outside the place. There is a waiting list so make sure to put your name down! The wait wasn't too bad but keep in mind that the place is small. Service was very friendly and the food came out hot and fresh! I got the egg coffee which was strong and sweet from the egg foam. I got the banh mi chao 1 which came with a little bit of everything such as the meatballs, beef, and sausage. The portion was big and the food was delicious.

Thien Huong is an absolute gem in Mira Mesa and a must-visit for Vietnamese breakfast and bánh cuốn. We ordered the Bánh Mì Chảo (Chao 1) -- a sizzling cast iron skillet loaded with eggs, beef tenderloin, meatball, and hotdog -- and it did not disappoint. The eggs were cooked perfectly with runny yolks, the beef was tender and flavorful, and everything came together in this rich, savory sauce topped with fresh cilantro. It arrived piping hot and stayed that way. We also got the bánh cuốn plate -- steamed rice rolls filled with egg and ground pork, topped with crispy fried shallots, served alongside chả lụa (Vietnamese pork loaf), bean sprouts, and fried rolls. Light, delicate, and incredibly fresh. To wash it all down: iced Vietnamese coffee. Strong, smooth, and perfectly sweetened. Exactly what you want. The food is authentic, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. One heads up -- this place fills up fast during lunch hour, so come early or expect a wait. Thien Huong has been around since 1982 for good reason -- this place is the real deal.

Came here for a breakfast cause I heard the banh cuon was good and it definitely did not disappoint. When I initially came here I had never tried chao either so I decided to try that as well. The chao was good; every individual item was cooked well and had a lot of flavor. The banh mi included with the dish helps soak up the sauce and turns it into a customizable sandwich with whatever topping from the chap you want. As for the banh cuon, every item included in the plate also tasted great. Only slight nitpick I would have is the fish sauce which I felt was somewhat watered down but it's not a dealbreaker. Lastly, I also tried the egg coffee. It was fairly priced and flavor wise it was solid, pretty much what you'd expect out of a Vietnamese coffee. If I was craving either chao or banh cuon again, I would definitely come by again!

Casual dining. Friendly at the front counter. I bought the pork and shrimp combo. One entree can feed two adults. It was good though the fish sauce for dipping it in was a little too sweet.

Delicious, fast, and reasonable prices. We tried a few of their banh cuons and all were tasty. Great little authentic spot.

If you're looking for bánh cuốn in San Diego, Thien Huong in Mira Mesa is definitely worth a try. They specialize in bánh cuốn (steamed rice rolls with meat fillings) and other Vietnamese street food, which is hard to find around here--so it's nice to have a spot like this locally. It's a small, no-frills place, but the cashier is super sweet and friendly. The cooks are older, and it honestly feels like your parents are in the back making your food lol. Everything is made to order, so it comes out fresh every time. They do close pretty early (around 5pm), so plan ahead. It's also a great spot for seniors since the food is light, easy to chew, and easy to digest. Simple, homey, and comforting--definitely worth checking out if you're craving bánh cuốn.

Special 2 Combo ( Egg and Shrimp)

I searched on YELP for Bahn Cuon (Vietnamese rice noodle rolls) in Mira Mesa and Thien Huong appeared. They have protein options of shrimp, pork or no filling. I've never tried the rice noodle roll with eggs before so I got the special combo... SPECIAL COMBO #2: 10/10 Rice Noodle Rolls with shrimp and egg. The one with the egg comes with pork. I usually don't eat pork but, I really enjoyed the one with the eggs and pork inside. My hubby usually doesn't eat a lot of shrimp but he really enjoyed the one with the shrimp inside... SERVICE: A Excellent and friendly service. It's mostly self service. You can order at the cashier and then you are given a number. Then, the food will arrive at your table... AMBIANCE: It reminded me of Chick-fil-A. So it's kind of like the Asian Chick-fil-A with a limited menu items that are really good. They specialize in Bahn Cuon so it's like In-&-Out Burger as well where all you need to be good at is one thing to be a successful business! ROCK ON THIEN HUONG!!!!

I was craving some Viet food and the pictures and review on Yelp reeled me in (and did not disappoint). You order and pay first, then they'll give you number, and you choose whichever table you want, then they'll bring the food out to you. Service was fine. I ordered the #1 and it was yummy! The fish sauce was great too. It is a lot for one person to finish, so I asked for a ToGo box and finished the rest at home too. I would come back here. Large parking lot connected to other restaurants.

    Viona C.

Best bang for your buck for an amazing banh cuon. Restaurant is pretty much cafeteria-style -- you order up front and they'll assign you a number, which you'll bring to your table. They'll locate you from that assigned number and bring the food to you. The Special 1 had a great mix of textures -- delicate and springy rolls, tender and fresh pieces of cha lua, cha chien, fried tofu, and ground meat filling, some crispy bits, and fresh herbs on top. It was super flavorful but still light, especially with all the herbs balancing everything out. The Special 2 felt a little heartier since it had egg, with richer flavors and a more savory, satisfying bite overall. The nuoc mam here is also crack LOL The banh mi chao (#4) was served sizzling and super aromatic. The meat + sardines were juicy and flavorful with that slightly caramelized edge from the hot plate, and everything came together really well with the sauce and cream cheese. Service was friendly and pretty quick, even though it got a bit busy while we were there. Nothing fancy, just solid, satisfying Vietnamese food that hits the spot. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm here. Wish they had a banh cuon spot like this in New York LOL

Their menu as of Aug 2026. Good protion and good price.

Delicious steam rice rolled with pork. You can only find this type of dish in a few Vietnamese restaurant. Their sizzling plates are very delicious as well. We all are happy with our food. This restaurant is small so they have waiting list during lunch time, probably 20-30 mins wait. You will need to order at their counter after seated. Service is fast and efficient. Highly recommended. No vegan option.

Grateful to have made it here safely, we decided to grab a bite at Duyen Mai Vietnamese Restaurant. The first thing I noticed was that they had two spots right next to each other--so I already knew this place had to be pumping out some Vietnamese food! I looked around the menu and saw #23 - Phở Đặc Biệt (The Special). Of course, I was feeling special that day , so I ordered the small Pho #23. The bowl might have been small, but it was PACKED with meat, noodles, and flavor. Of course, all the sauces were right there on the side so you could make it exactly how you like it. We also ordered the Bún Riêu, which was simple but hearty and comforting. Glad we were able to fill up, recharge, and get some energy for the rest of the evening. If you're ever around this part of San Diego and craving some good Vietnamese food, definitely check out Duyen Mai. Yummy!

Today, it's one of the most well-known Vietnamese restaurants in the city, and after this visit, I can definitely see why. One of my favorite things about coming here is the location. Even though it's right in Convoy, parking has never been an issue for me. I usually avoid the area because finding a spot can be a headache, but Phuong Trang has a large parking lot that makes stopping by so much easier. I came in for a quick takeout lunch. One thing to know before you go is they don't accept Apple Pay, so make sure to bring a physical card or cash. The staff was incredibly welcoming. They greeted me when I walked in, gave me plenty of time to look over the menu, and never made me feel rushed. That kind of hospitality really stood out. I ordered the Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli and the Shrimp, Pork & Jellyfish Salad. The salad comes with shredded green papaya, celery, cucumber, carrots, shrimp, pork, jellyfish strips, fresh mint, crushed peanuts, and shrimp chips. The salad was refreshing with plenty of shrimp and jellyfish throughout. I especially liked the crunch from the green papaya. My only complaint was that the dressing felt a little one dimensional. I wish it had a little more brightness to bring out the fresh herbs and vegetables. It was still enjoyable, though. The Char-Grilled Beef Vermicelli was my favorite of the two. It came with vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, pickled daikon and carrots, crushed peanuts, plus five grilled beef rolls wrapped around scallions. The beef had a delicious smoky flavor from the grill. The only downside was that the inside of the rolls was a little chewy since it didn't get the same char as the outside. Even so, every bite was packed with flavor, so it wasn't enough to take away from the dish. Between the friendly service, quick turnaround for takeout, and solid food, I can see why Phuong Trang has stayed so popular for all these years. I'd happily come back and keep working my way through their menu.

They only had a table for 5 but we ended up having 6 people in our party. They were so kind to be able to accommodate the additional person! They had personalized menus that greeted my party and it wished my friends a happy birthday!! They actually got to take the menus home! This was really a nice touch, I appreciated the details. We family-styled everything which is honestly the way to go so everybody can try a little of everything! It was majority of our party's first time dining there. We started off with some drinks, I got the Non-alcoholic Guava Mocktail and I got to try what was the equivalent to an espresso martini too. Definitely liked the guava drink better because it tasted like guava nectar juice (kind of like Kerns or Jumex). The Expresso Martini had fresh mint in it and it tasted earthy which wasn't my cup of tea. For food we started off with the Heirloom Tomato Salad which was DELICIOUS!! I don't know what they put in the Vietnamese Green Goddess (probably fish sauce since all the dishes basically had this) but it was magnificent and one of my favorite dishes of the night. Then the Scallops and the Black Cod came out. The Scallops came in a set of 3 and we cut them in half so we could all have a taste. The sauce on this was DIVINE!!! It was citrusy but still really flavorful bursting with umami. I'm literally starting to drool reminiscing about it xD We wanted to keep it to use on other dishes because it was so good. The Black Cod was also delicious. It had fried skin attached and a sesame soy glaze. Next up came the Beef Tartare and the Wagyu Steak. The Beef Tartare was probably the least flavorful out of everything we ordered, but it was still well seasoned. My friend said it was really spicy but it might have just been her bite because I didn't think it was spicy at all. I like that the give you the option of leafy greens or shrimp chips to eat it with. The Wagyu though, was an all-star dish. It was the crowd favorite for sure, we all enjoyed not only the steak but the picked baby eggplants that come with it, and the sauce was phenomenal!! Lastly came the Dry Aged Duck which is what they're known for. It was definitely the biggest fish out of all. You were able to eat the duck with two different sauces, one they called a "Fish Sauce Chimichurri" and "Vietnamese XO sauce" which is more so satay. My friends liked the XO sauce but I liked the Chimichurri better. They had actually forgotten about the side of Buttered Rice but I was told it was incredibly flavorful on its own so we still asked for it. It had more than just butter in it, there was dried shrimp and sesame seeds, and it was made with coconut milk or something because it had a sweet but savory taste to it. I saved some of my duck and Wagyu to eat with it which was actually pretty good. Overall I liked that they brought out the dishes from lightest to heaviest and especially after they brought out out 2 sides of Buttered Rice we were all satisfied and full. It was the perfect amount of food. Honestly EVERY dish was different but amazingly dank and I think it's the fish sauce in everything. They were also sweet and kept the cake we brought in the fridge, placed the candles on it for us, and even after we sang they cut the cake for us!! 10/10 would recommend coming here for not only the food but the impeccable service!! Since we had a larger party there's an automatic 20% gratuity already added to the bill, which came out to be $555! (Look at that angel number!)
