I've been here a few years back and remembered liking it a lot but today I came with my sister and mom and was really disappointed. The portions were small and the meats were marinated and not freshly grilled. The rice noodles were also a bit overcooked. The price was very high and doesn't represent the portion and quality of food we were eating. I don't recommend this place at all. Me and my 2 friends went in this afternoon to share a large bowl of pho ($22) because we weren't really hungry. We requested three small bowls so we can each have something to eat out of, and the server says "I can only bring you two bowls, the third is not included in your service fee, order another dish". It's just one more small bowl?? Then he went back on his word and said he can only provide 1 small bowl. I've never been to another restaurant that had this concern. it was also very hard to communicate and he kept showing a translation on his phone to order one more dish. Nice decor. Pho was okay. Pricey for the portion size. Was a bit disappointed in the banh mi. Rather than the traditional bread used in banh mi (that cuts the inside of your mouth..which I love and look forward to as its all part of the experience)... it seemed like a regular sandwich bread was used. Not enough of the garnish that makes for that unique banh mi flavour (cilantro, pickled carrots, daikon). Instead just tasted like a meat sandwich. Friendly service. Did not have to wait for a table. For the mains, we had the House Special Pho, Bun-Vermicelli, Bánh Mì, and Bún Riêu. Also pretty good. Lots of food for 4 adults and a kid. Probably we could have ordered less... Their House Pho and Vermicelli were both very good. Great portion and tasty. As far as the appetizer is concerned, the portion could have been bigger but still quite tasty. As for the Bún Riêu (crab, pork & tomato noodle soup pho), here is not as good as other Vietnamese places in Scarborough. One of the competitors even includes a small blue crab in the bowl! This pho place is located in the back corner of Sky City in Scarborough. There's a ton of parking and a lot of shops in the plaza. The decor is quite modern and it's actually quite spacious inside compared to a lot of viet restos. I can't speak to what the wait times look like on peak days during prime meal hours but on an inconspicuous tuesday night over the christmas holidays, my gf and I were seated instantly. The food itself is pretty good! The pho broth has nice clean flavour (I do wish their large was actually a large size though; it's more of a medium imo). Having an XL on the menu would be nice too ;) just saying for the big eaters out there. Beef quality was great. Tendons nice and tender. The tripe was cooked well. Waiter was quite attentive which was nice. We also ordered up a side of soft shell crab. The crab was fried nicely. Very crispy and hot. The sweet chili dipping sauce on the side was awesome. It was noted on the first page of the menu that prices here have also increased and could increase without notice. We ordered bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancake), gỏi cuốn (Vietnamese spring roll), and a medium phở dặc biệt. The spring roll was stuffed to the brim and great with the peanut sauce. The rolls did stick together, so it may be best to pull them apart as soon as you get them. Sadly, the pancake was quite burnt, which was a bit of a turnoff. It also wasn't as flavourful as I had hoped. I will say that it was also filled with tonnes of mung bean sprouts, shrimp, and pork. We know this location for a while, just we didn't have a chance to try anything yet. My hubby really wanted to try, and I wanted some noodles recently. We arrived at noon time, but not too many people dining. But we still need to wait a min to place an takeout order, they kind of busy. We had the regular pho bowls, like everything in it, and we requested everything cooked. It was fast to get our order, it only took about 10 mins to get them. The portion was ok, and they gave us all cooked meat as per our request. The taste was nice, however, we felt thirsty and had to drink water the whole afternoon. Located in Skycity Shopping Centre. Pho Vietnam is at the end of a busy commercial mall that's made up of so many choices of restaurants, bubble tea shops, beauty salons and other businesses. There is ample parking in this shopping centre. I also noticed how many restaurants along this strip have now been setup for outdoor patio dining during the opening up of dining outdoors in the city. Neighbouring restaurants have their patio furniture and tents out already. Things are looking good for us Yelpers! Their takeout was great. Got the Nam Vang Style Rice Noodle (Dry) - Hu Tieu Nam Vang, Bun Rieu and Spring Rolls. All items were phenomenal. They did not skimp on ingredients. They gave you fresh bean sprouts, basil, and the prawn cracker came with the Nam Vang Style Rice Noodle. Unlike other places that leave out the toppings or cutlery for to go meals, Pho Vietnam gives you toppings for your dishes, cutlery upon request and is pretty good that way. We got take out from Pho Vietnam due to covid restrictions. We have been dining at this restaurant for years. Their quality has been up & down in the years we have been getting food from here. Last time we ordered in 2021 the deep fried veggie spring rolls were overcooked & not tasty. So we took a break from them until recently. Their food quality is back up again. I'm not sure if it's because they are less busy with the no indoor dining due to covid. In any case, we ordered some of our favourite dishes (deep fried fish with ginger sauce, summer rolls, deep fried veggie spring rolls) & tried some dishes we had never ordered before (wonton soup, grilled meatballs). The deep fried fish with ginger sauce, summer rolls, deep fried veggie spring rolls & also the beef with vermicelli were all delicious & as expected. The wonton soup was delicious. I'd never had that dish before & I would order that again. The grilled meatballs turned out to be beef wrapped in betel leaves which I personally didn't like the taste of. But I gave that dish to my husband & he enjoyed it just fine. I guess I don't like the taste of betel leaves. Anyway, we ordered by phone & came in person to pick up the order. Dined in with some friends recently, they have you put your name and number to check-in as per covid protocol. They sat us in the corner, nice modern pho restaurant. I had the medium pho dac biet and chose the fresh noodles which is thicker and as my friend mentioned this is one of the few places that serves fresh noodles option for pho. We requested for the bean sprouts to be cooked and they forgot but quickly returned with a cooked plate of bean sprouts. The broth was not too oily and soup had good flavor. My friends ordered the vermicelli dish with extra beef side dish and they said the meat was very good and would recommend getting it again. Overall 7/10 would recommend. read more

We chose this restaurant because it was one of the few that were open after ten pm. They had a pretty good menu in terms of food choices and variety. We ordered Tom yum goong (soup with shrimp), I didn't know that this soup was three pieces of shrimp, half a tomato and some onions in broth, I was under the impression it would come with some noodles, it was not filling, the portion size was small, and they only had one size. We also ordered horlicks which was pretty standard, was warm when it came and the waitress brought sugar when it arrived, she was very good at her job. The service was fast friendly and efficient and the restaurant was clean. But the food quality was disappointing and the portions are far from filling Lastly we had dessert, I was super excited to have mango sticky rice with coconut milk. Unfortunately there was no coconut milk at all anywhere in this dessert. The rice was glutinous, and straight from the microwave, drenched in regular milk sitting around this one layer triangle of individual rice grains. Which was topped with two thin slivers of mango topped with canned mango purée. This was absolutely disappointing, bf it costs 4.99 for this. I prefer to choose your own pho, but there are enough combinations to satisfy most patrons. The prices are pretty standard when it comes to Pho places. When we ordered our Pho, the server asked us whether or not we wanted thick or thin noodles. My wife said thin to which the server said go with the thick, it's the better one. I pondered why they would have both if they believe one if superior to the other. Regardless, we took his recommendation and went with the thick one. The pho here is a pretty decent one. The portions are just about right with what you're paying. The thick noodle was actually a fresh noodle which I really liked as well. Good thing we listened to the server. The spring roll is what you would expect. This place won't wow you, but it gets the job done well. My only gripe is the seating arrangement. I know restaurants have to have as many seats as possible, but it felt really cramped to me. There was very little space to move around. I thought two tables were with patrons who were together, but they were actually 2 separate pairs. That's how close the seats are at times. When you have kids, having that extra makes all the difference. Overall, Pho Vietnam is a solid place to get some Pho. Every week my mom likes to go somewhere different to eat and this week, she wanted to eat pho, so I immediately took the opportunity to invite my beau along and he suggested this place. Location: 3.5/5 It is deep within the south side of SkyCity on Midland a tad north of Finch. If you did not know it was all the way at the back end of the plaza, then you would easily get lost finding this place. Decor/Ambience: 4/5 High ceiling with polished wooden tables and chairs with cushioned seats on the sides. 22 wooden colour lamp shades hanging above. The place is not small nor big. Not too quiet or loud either. Food quality: 3.5/5 My mom wanted me to eat seafood and not simply vegetables and I wanted soup and not rice or something dry, so my mom helped me pick their seafood noodle soup, which sounded like a good idea. My mom, herself, had a rice vermicelli with chicken, cabbage, sliced cucumbers and radish and 4 spring rolls. My mom was very full from her meal, but hers cost a full $2 more. I think next time I might get the same thing as her but with seafood and sugar cane instead. Was craving Vietnamese food with the family and came here for dinner. It was busy but we were seated immediately. Got two appetizers the fried spring rolls and the rice rolls both were pretty good! However funny enough I wasn't craving pho so decided to get a vermicelli noodle soup and a fried rice. The fried rice was very good but there was quite a lot of onions in it and they were big chunks as well. Been to this location a couple of times now with friends and family. It seems like they are our place to go to for pho. It's located at the Northwest corner of finch and Midland but the restaurant is all the way in the back of the West end parking lot which is the last building. Sometimes they are super busy depending on what time you come and other times it's quiet or just starting to pick up. They aren't the typical vietnamese speaking Chinese group as they are fully vietnamese - so food should be authentic. Normally here we order the pho special, bun bo hue, lamb chop with rice or bun with minced shrimp and nam neung. The bun bo hue - isn't as flavourful as other places where the soup is deep, earthy and spicy. I'm glad my mom likes it though cause she cant take spice. They also have pork meats in there which I'm not used to. The lamb chop dish comes with huge pieces of lamb with rice and vegetables and I don't think you can complain about the tender and juiciness of that. The bun with minced shrimp and nam neung - I love everything about this dish. When I'm jonesing for Vietnamese food without soup this is definitely my go to. The fish sauce is delicious and always has me wanting more and it goes so well with the rest of the dish. I also had the coffee with condensed milk and it's my favourite. It's strong and wakes me up and tastes delicious! I always have to have one when I come in! Service here is usually pretty good but you may have to literally wave them down because when they do get busy, they sometimes have blinders on. I been waiting for this restaurant to open for months since my Yelp friend told me about that... and finally it opens for business this week. Brand new restaurant... everything so nice and clean.... love the high ceilings and the floor to ceiling windows! Staffs are really polite... calling me madam? Seriously? Special Pho Medium ($7.50) - the clear broth is well flavoured and steaming hot, hot enough for my raw bean sprout to be cooked - extra points to the meat, especially the tendon so buttery tendon. I was skeptical about this place as I'm a big fan of authentic Vietnamese food and this place from the exterior seemed like something similar to pho 88. I was completely wrong. Their menu was very extensive with many Vietnamese authentic dishes. The tea was also genuine tea that traditional Vietnamese places serve and it tasted great. I ordered spring rolls and the large special pho bowl with everything, including yummy tendon, tripe, beef balls, rare beef and all those delicious things. The bowl was huge and came out piping hot. My favourite thing about it was that I was able to order fresh noodles. Fresh noodles are 10 times better than dry and it's rare to have them at a GTA Pho restaurant. Broth was great and they even steamed the bean sprouts for your pho, which was a nice touch! Service was great and probably some of the best Pho I've had around the Scarborough area. My first experience at this restaurant was pretty good. I had the Banh Xeo which was delicious with a strong coconut flavor. It's hard to find this dish in Vietnamese restaurants uptown. I now frequent this place every week and can honestly say this is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Scarborough. It's clean, and actually authentic Vietnamese food unlike the Chinese owned places nearby. I usually have the pho, banh cuon, spring rolls, bun (vermicelli) or rice dishes. The fresh fruit smoothies are also good. The only complaint that I have is that it closes too early. The dry noodle option is usually what you would find at other pho restaurants or at the supermarket. I do have a gripe with the broth though. There are two pho restaurants at Midland and Finch, and it's quite debatable about which one has the best quality. To be quite frank, I do not like Pho Vietnam, and I say this as a frequent patron of theirs. You may wonder why I even bother coming here so often. Well, it's only for the sole purpose of meeting up with my friends, many of whom live in close proximity to this restaurant. Many of them prefer this one over Vietnamese Star (the one at the older plaza) and I contest to this opinion. Personally, the first pho I ever tried was from here. I ordered their regular beef pho, and it was a greasy concoction. I had heard many raving reviews about pho, that it has a mouthwatering broth, tender meat, and soft (not soggy) noodles. What I got here, however, was a broth cloudy with grease, meat with too much fat on it, and decent (but not phenomenal) noodles. It was not pleasant, and it misconstrued my perception of pho. I didn't try pho after this until a friend had reassured me that there were better ones served up north. We dined at a different restaurant near Finch station, where I actually had a very satisfying and delicious pho in comparison. I was saved. I tried their strawberry bubble tea instead of ordering their food recently. I thought it might lift my low regard for their culinary items. The drink tasted strongly of artificial strawberry flavouring. Yep, it's a no-go. You have to be careful of their hygienic practices and their storage of ingredients as well. Recently, my friend received a pho with strips of meat that had very distinct, blue streaks in them. I talked to the server and told him that we did not feel safe having him eat the meat and that we wanted them to remake the dish. I was very surprised when the server tried to disagree, arguing that he should still eat it because they ensure that all ingredients are above safety standards. He had no logical reasoning for why the meat had blue streaks in it. Persistent as always, I asked for a replacement again and the server reluctantly gave in. What they gave, unfortunately, was not a newly made meal. They simply took out the meat slices and gave back the dish to our table. Shocking, right? This is my go to pho place. Broth is delicious - tons of the aromatics and fresh spices are very much present. Typical pho menu, but I haven't had a dish I didn't like. If you are into vermicelli it is a win too. Often I find a place is better for pho or vermicelli, but with this one you can have both! I haven't seen any banh mi on the menu (or I haven't tried it). Appetizers are nice - spring rolls and shrimp paste on sugar cane are top notch. If you are going here with more of a "North American" crew that are a bit more sensitive to decor and cleanliness, you'll be safe. It's a good spot. I talked to who I believe is the owner, and she was giving me the recipe for the complimentary tea (which is really good) - it's a blend of green and black leaves. Came here for a quick lunch. The restaurant is well designed compared to your average no-frills basic Vietnamese joint. They were not very busy and my server was very quick and attentive. The food was prepared very fast. I had only went to the washroom for a few minutes and my bowl of pho was already at my table when I came back. I ordered a large bowl of pho and it was more than enough to satisfy my hunger. Probably order a medium if you don't want to feel bloated afterwards. Tldr: good variety of viet dishes, pho broth tastes clean, decent price and good portions. Inconsistent freshness of ingredients and meat, terrible service Come here from time to time for my pho cravings. Like many other viet joints, this place also has a wide variety of vermicelli, pho, and rice dishes. Vegetarian options are available here as well. What i like about the pho here is that the broth tastes a little bit more cleaner than other places. It doesn't leave a oily/fatty feel in your mouth after slurping some noodles. I personally enjoy the chewier texture in noodles, so i usually opt for the dry noodles for my pho. The price for the pho is decently priced and the portions are pretty good too. The spring rolls here are decent as well, but on the pricier end. The reason why i only come here occasionally is because i think the freshness of the ingredients are debatable at times. There was one time when i ordered the pho, the raw beef had a shiny dark blue tinge to it, and the overall colour of the beef was kind of grey. Now i understand that this might be some sort of chemical reaction that occurs naturally with the beef, and that it's still safe to eat. However, this also probably means how they store meat is not the greatest. Just observing an awkward colour on food that's not usually there really deterred an enjoyable dining experience for me. The service here is sub-par as well. The waiters are pretty rude and apathetic. Your food does come pretty quick (if you get the pho, rice takes longer), though i feel very rushed every time i eat here. On my last visit here with my friends, the moment we sat down the waiter asked us if we were ready to order... Like...Homie. You literally just saw us sitting down. Give us some time to decide what we want?? Overall, i would say this place is just ok. The food is not bad, but the service really changes the game.
