My husband has been on a Pho kick, so we decided to check this place out last week. It really is a quick eats place. Seating is a bit tight. We ended up sharing the table with another couple. It's ok- we might not look it, but we're friendly. He was looking for a complex broth with well cooked and seasoned meats.. and this isn't the place for that. But, the pho portion is huge, definitely enough to share. I got my first ever pizza puff- I could see why my friends like them. We also got their spicy rangoon- across the four pieces, the filling varied from non-existent to too much, and everywhere in between. The ones with filling were pretty good though. We spent ~$40 on everything. It was worth it, but I don't think we'll make the trip outside of the loop to go again. read more

We got a chicken pho and a beef pho as well as some pork egg rolls the other day. Overall it was a bit average we thought. The chicken pho was nice in that it included a hard boiled egg which seems atypical but the downside was that there was hardly any chicken. The broth was a bit bland as well. Nothing was bad but there was nothing that stood out as great. The beef pho was maybe slightly better but similar in that it was kinda average. But it had far more onions than usual. The meatballs were disappointing as they were kinda a bit squeaky as you bit into them but the broth had good flavour and the amount of meat overall was satisfactory. I was recommended Phodega by multiple friends and living very close to it...we had to try it! The Pho had steak, brisket and meatballs. The meat was good, but the meatballs were an interesting consistency (almost collagen/jelly like). Maybe I'm not used to them, but I ate around them. I thought the Pho was good, but unsure if I would order again. The hostess was very nice when ordering and the food was ready super fast. Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes. Came here last night with a friend and really enjoyed the spot. Inside it almost feels like a small liquor store but you order at the counter, sit down, and they bring your food out. My friend and I started with the chicken skins, and then shared the beef pho and combo chicken and rice. I really liked the chicken skins, they were really salty and warm. Dip these in the orange sauce they give you. The pho was really solid, I thought the beef was cooked perfectly, and I added some of the sauces they gave to give it a good flavor, while remaining light and refreshing. Now onto the star of the show, the combo chicken and rice. I LOVED this. The fried chicken was so crispy and juicy. The hunan chicken was flavorful and tender. The rice was cooked well, and again, I added the sauces they gave which gave it a great flavor. All in all, definitely stop by. I would get the combo chicken and rice but the beef pho was really good as well. read more

I stumbled across Phodega on my most recent visit to Chicago. I'm not sure what I was expecting other than being amused by the clever play on the name. I was so impressed with the food and the vibe! What a cute spot with great food! The pho broth was delicious, the eggrolls were perfectly rolled, and the wings were so crispy! The whole restaurant was a vibe! Service was great and overall, just a fantastic experience! I was so fixated on having pho for lunch, I didn't even really browse the menu while I was there. After creeping on their IG, I totally missed out! I wish I had tried one of their sandwiches too. Welps... guess I just have to visit again soon! read more

Meh... meh... Not a true "pho" place. This is a streamlined bodega mixed with a hot counter. Did I say hot? Oops...luke warm Pho. By far not the best Pho in Chicago. Head up to Argyle, throw a pebble, and you will find a better restaurant than Phodega. We also tried the "crack wings" - so gross, I just want to forget about it. They were not fresh. Phodega has a simple menu and is presented in an old school fashion. My husband and I got the beef pho and we loved it! The broth was everything! I don't know of one good pho spot outside of Argyle until this place opened. This place is exactly what Wicker Park has been missing. The concept of a bodega supplying a lot of the Asian staples I grew up on, the music was reminiscent of Empire Liquors with a mix of hip hop and R&B, and on top of that they serve good ass pho & pizza puffs. I can't believe I've never been here before. This place is criminally underrated. I was really impressed with the selection. There are some Vietnamese classics like banh mi and pho, but there are also some fun options that you don't find everywhere like the Viet dip and the Hainan chicken rice. Everything I had was delicious (although I don't know if I'd get the smoothie again), and I am excited to go back to try their snacks. They also have a dope loyalty program that gives you a free entree every 100 you spend. read more

The me start out by saying, most places that are hyped rarely live up to their reputation, Phodega was an exception. When you walk into the store/restaurant you're instantly taken to a typical NYC bodega, the only thing missing is the cat. There's cool snacks to try and dope art all around. We had a take out order so we didn't dine-in but there is some seating to eat. The service was chill and all of the staff seemed really dope. The food was amazing. We ordered the spicy chicken Banh mi which was really good, especially paired with the summer salad. The fries were crispy and really good but the star but the viet dip sandwich. This is hands down the best beef sandwich I've had in the city. It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth, it's all the best things of a good Pho in sandwich form and it's amazing. read more

I love the entire Phodega experience. This little Vietnamese bodega fusion was such a fun little lunch spot for my family. The space inside is a little limited so you can expect to have to wait for a table for a few extra minutes and the neighborhood parking is hard to come by but honestly worth the trouble. My husband ordered the viet dip and I ordered the salt & pepper crack wings with fries. I really enjoy this local Pho restaurant. There aren't many places on the west side that specialize in pho and this place is delicious. All the pho is very flavorful and still warm when you bring it home. It comes in a large bowl that fits all the tops they provide so you don't have to worry about finding large bowls at home to use. I've ordered here several times now. I started out with their beef pho but I've found myself coming back for their chicken pho! Their food is definitely better dining in-- I've noticed the soup to noodle ratio is a bit skewed when I get delivery. The interior is cute and fun! First of all, I ordered on their website, I selected 30mins, and got a text saying my order is ready for pickup just after 6 mins... So I picked up my hainan chicken rice. Man it was salty. They rice is not just salty, it's mushy! And that killed the whole dish... it made every bite so gross... don't even talk about the soup man... it's not just cold cus they made it in 6 minutes after i ordered, it's soooo salty, and it has a weird smoky flavor which isn't supposed to be in the soup.... read more

I was really excited to try this place. Perhaps it is with the carry out only options but the Pho was 'meh'. I walked in, ordered and picked it up so there wasnt a delay in getting the food ..still the soup was luke warm and also the meat was over cooked. I suppose if I am so lazy than going to Chi town or Uptown to get my Pho this is what I get. The eggrolls were decent, though. Just tried the 4 crispy chicken sliders for $8 a bit ago for takeout. They were the perfect size for me. Its 4 x those hawaiian sweet rolls sized sliders. Very delicious, but i added some cilantro and made a spicy sriracha mayo to go with it at home. Very nice. Also, try some of the lays thai chips! No u dont need to know what it says. Just try it. The Pho was really tasty. A small menu, but they did have vegetarian Pho. The staff was very friendly. The space was fairly blah, with limited seating. A seemingly never ending line of people either to sit and eat or to take out. Take out is a good way to go. This place is a diamond in the rough. Both of the Phos were very good. They have the classic beef pizza puff which we got and lived up to the expectation. If you're picking up, its easy to get to near the highway at Ashland and North. Overall very good. I didn't give them a 5 because I wasn't blown away. It was a solid pho place outside of the Uptown area. read more

Here's a place that was definitely a pleasure to visit. I'm an avid fan of Pho, so since this place is in my vicinity, I needed to check them out. It was by no means a disappointment, but in the spirit of reviewing, I have to give them around an average. If I could give them 3.5 stars I would. But since it's either 3 or 4, I have to lean towards 3. Here's why. Very small dining area, so it was a smidge uncomfortable. Then the their dishes was way more Pho & veggies than protein. Noodles, sprouts, & other vegetables galore, but when it came to the meat, they skimp a bit. I had the oxtails & my date had the ribeye & both of them were not completely fulfilling. Now I must say their pricing is congruent to what you get. It wasn't expensive at all & I will definitely go back for a quick trip. My only true concern here is that I've tried other Pho places that were better. If you're ever in the Wicker Park area & have time to kill, this is a good stop off. I just can't give it 4 or 5 stars because I wouldn't be celebrating any special events here. read more

The chicken skin reminds me of my mom's it was soo crispy and good. The pho broth was delicious however I didn't like this type of noodles. They used pad Thai rice noodles instead of the typical vermicelli skinny pho noodles which is the only reason why I didn't give a 5 star bc i Love the original pho noodles. read more

Glad this was opened during Covid. Pick up and delivery. I picked up and let me tell you. This place is the bomb!!!!!! Cute little corner store feel that serves pho. I had the beef pho, thai coffee (that will definitely want you up) chicken fried skins (soo good tastes like chicharrón) shrimp rolls were delicious, egg roll was ok. I bought some stuff at the bodega portion, but it has nice asian variety in the market. I will definitely want there again. I'd recommend if to reheat the broth. I don't like when my soup gets cold. read more
