Szechuan Pork Rib Noodle Soup - 9.5/10 Pork seasoned and cooked perfectly. Broth captured the classic spicy and savory Szechuan flavors. Best Chinese noodle soup we've had in recent memory Double Fried Pork Intestine - 8.5/10 Salty, savory (shoutout MSG), crispy porky perfection. Pieces were slightly thick and fatty but otherwise was a phenomenal eat. Szechuan Cold Noodle Salad - 7/10 Light, fresh. A little light on the chili oil, seasonings, and sesame sauce, but overall a decent appetizer.

This is my favorite Chinese food in the city. The Szechuan flavors are so good. The Mongolian beef is outstanding and the Szechuan wontons are very good. Also recommend the Szechuan soup and Szechuan cold noodle.

Once again a great experience. Tried their pork feet this time. Super flavorful, mostly bone but still tasty. The mala tang was also great, not sure why it needed to be in a giant salad bowl but it was easy to eat and they had the option of duck blood which I love. The crispy eggplant was piping hot and had a melt in your mouth interior. The newest update is the Ciba now has a brown sugar filling! I was pleasantly surprised. It was still not too sweet. The shape is more oval probably because they have to fill it.

The food here is just average and nothing special. We weren't sure if it was the day we went but some dishes were either too sweet or too salty for our liking. We got the garlic pork, xiao long bao, and pickled chili pepper beef. The workers were very nice and service was attentive. The place itself is clean but nothing really wowed us. The Lincoln Park location definitely tastes a bit better.

Pretty good Sichuan style restaurant in Chicago! Need to come back to try their mala~ Although their kung pao chicken kind of tastes more like orange chicken

The interior is cute! We dined in - ordered and paid on our phone. Staff was quick in bringing out dishes and taking away dirty dishes. We did have to wait a while when trying to get their attention for boxes to pack up leftovers. Dumplings were good - the Xiao Long Bao was guaranteed the perfect soup dumpling. The Crystal shrimp dumplings was delicious, had a good texture and wasn't dry. Dan Dan noodles are a good spicy! Recommend if you love spicy food. The sausage fried rice was okay. I felt like the sausage was difficult to chew at times and the dish wasn't flavorful.

Staff was friendly and quick. Dining room felt cluttered and messy. My potstickers were well cooked and tasty. The sesame shrimp felt like they just dusted orange shrimp with sesame seeds.

Generous portion sizes with good food and service! Definitely a restaurant where I recommended ordering family style. They have a bunch of vegetarian options and some of our absolute favorites were the fried eggplant, fried vegetable noodles, vegetable fried rice, mapo tofu, and home style bean curd! The vegetarian Dan Dan noodles has a lot of flavor but were way too salty.

Ambiance- Modern, in between home cooking/upscale restaurant, really lit up with minimal decorations Service- Our server was really nice and very patient when I needed slightly more time on my topping choices Food- a BYOB spot Scrambled Egg Tomato Soup- taste exactly like something your Asian mom would make at home, not too salty, really simple broth, warms your soul Boiled Fish Sichuan Style- mouth numbing spicy but keeps you wanting more MaLa Xiang Guo (Stir-fry Hot&Spicy Pot)- finally found a spot with good dry hotpot, I love that you got to pick what goes in it (had to choose a minimum of 4)

[Chendu Impression Restaurant] Sichuan restaurant with multiple locations but this was the Wicker Park location. Came in for a quick dinner before everything closed for the night. Ordered the classics: fuqifeipian, string beans, spicy wontons, and pan fried noodles. Everything was what you would expect from take-out Chinese. Service was good, felt bad that we came close to before they closed. https://www.chengduimpression.com 1300 N Milwaukee Ave Chicago, IL 60622

We arrived just as doors were opening for lunch, and sat at the bar for apps and drinks. The lycheetini here is my fave, but be aware it is a potent drink. Service was fine, nothing standout but about what I expected. 6/10. The Peking duck was the highlight. Crispy skin, juicy meat, and tasted super high quality. Only thing is the cucumbers weren't the freshest and I wish there was a bit more seasoning, but still amazing. 9.7/10. Easily up there with some of the best in Chicago. The other dishes didn't hit as much. The cumin lamb had great flavor but was way too fatty and oily. 4/10. The dry chili chicken had a nice crispy texture but also too oily. 6.5/10. Both weren't very spicy either. Overall, come here for the duck and you'll have a great time.

I was really…read morecraving some good Chinese food but did not want to go into downtown first to pick up and then head back home so I looked this place up and had decent reviews and decided to try it out. What really impressed me was they had a specific section of the menu which was titled "Salt and Pepper". Of course I was super excited to try the salt and pepper tofu so here's what we got: - we got the salt and pepper tofu - we got the American garlic broccoli - got the mala lamb. - Got a pair of complimentary vegetarian spring rolls. When I went to pick up the take-out order, I was shocked at how heavy it was. This was clearly a lot of food. I'll start with the lamb. Very well thought out packaging, to be straight. Because the lamb had a lot of oil and liquid in it, they put it in a plastic container, which they knew is going to leak. They put that entire container in a separate tiny plastic bag and wrapped it so that the juices from that would not come all over in the main bag. Really appreciate that. Now the lamb, while cooked okay, the flavor was just, you know, it did not do it for me. Add to that they really kept the lamb as relatively big pieces. They were thinly sliced but they were just large pieces. They could have been smaller for it to be easier to eat. Flavor-wise there was just too much black pepper, which is what I was expecting, but to match that there was no flavor as such. The salt and pepper tofu was a disaster. I got it from other places. The flavor just was not doing it. It was not crispy at all. Yes I have them take out salt and pepper tofu from many other places. It does leave its crunchiness to some extent. This one had zero crunch. In fact it was weird. Every piece that was stuck to the next one had something gooey on it. Just overall the flavor was very underwhelming. The American garlic broccoli was overcooked to the extent it did not have the firmness one would expect and was overcooked to the extent where some of the smaller pieces just disintegrated. The spring roll is wild. The casing was phenomenal. It was perfect for a spring roll even after opening it after one hour. Really appreciate that. The filling, however, there really weren't many vegetables in it at all. That was very disappointing. Overall I don't think I am going to grab food from here again. The reason they get the 3.5 stars, though, is they did a phenomenal job on the packaging of all the food. The quantity was well beyond what I expected. The food, however, I have to say, was a disaster. And maybe this is my taste. It may be it's a bit too Americanized and I have not been used to eating very Americanized Chinese food for the last many years. That might be the problem.

Tucked into a no-frills corner on the South Side, Dai Yee's looks modest from the outside, but step in after 10 p.m. and it's pure magic. The room is packed with everybody--sneakerheads, nurses coming off shift, club kids, cops, and couples on first dates who somehow heard the legend. The vibe is chaotic in the best way: woks roaring, orders flying, and that unmistakable perfume of sizzling garlic, ginger, and chili filling the air. The food is straight-up stupid good. The Hong Kong-style salt & pepper smelts are crackly, spicy, and gone in 30 seconds. The beef chow fun has that elusive wok hei (breath of the wok) that most places only dream of, wide rice noodles slick with smoky char and tender flank steak. The black pepper beef tenderloin is velvet-soft, glossy, and aggressively peppery in a way that makes you order extra rice just to survive the happiness. The Singapore noodles are bright curry perfection, and the Mongolian beef is saucy, crispy-edged, and borderline addictive.
