Chicken and Shrimp stir fry noodles

Location had ample parking. A bit difficult to see from the Main Street and entrance was tough to find for parking lot. Eventually arrived and even with no reservations, we were able to get a table rather quickly. The dining room had clever decor, ample space, and had an inviting atmosphere. The food photos only show a portion of the menu, so look online before going although choices are plenty, there will be discussions about the food. A nice quaint place that you gotta try if you're a local or simply looking for a different flair.

Solid place - we came here for a work lunch. The food was great overall - I go the stir fried rice noodles and that was good. We also got a few apps - the sichuan wontons are amazing. The space is very airy and has a lot of natural sun which is cute. The mango sago was my favorite dessert here and would recommend that.

I made one of those Internet inspired bingo cards to push myself a little to try new things and one of my squares is to try 12 new restaurants (outside of Yelp event privileges). Phat Phat was the first one of the year! I have seen the Imperial Xaio Long Bao on Instagram and was intrigued. I also saw the Chocolate Bao while scoping out the menu online and mentally added it to the list of things I wanted to try. When we got there, we saw the photos of the soup on the menu and thought it would be the perfect addition to the stop. I got the sweet corn soup (I'm trying new things, remember?) and my boyfriend got the wonton soup. I was a little skeptical of the consistency of the sweet corn soup, but it was not strange at all and the perfect thing to eat on a cold weekend. The Imperial Xaio Long Bao came with a lesson on how to eat them fully. I enjoyed every one less the Spicy Szechwan because it had dried shrimp in it and I cannot eat shellfish. My favorite one was the Chicken Curry [pink] with the OG Shanghai [white] a close second. Every single one was delicious, though! The Chocolate Bao were fluffy, decadent, and the perfect ending to our culinary adventure. Props for using imported chocolate over the American stuff, haha. The service was great, our waiter was funny, patient, and asked us some intelligent questions, like, how did we hear about the restaurant? The seating space was beautiful and it looked like there was a 2nd floor for seating, too? The tables were placed resourcefully, but not too close where you were sitting on top of one another. The space was bright and decorated well. I didn't use the bathrooms because I was too busy absorbing everything I definitely look forward to visiting again soon!

Had a bit of a mixed visit. Came in with a larger group for early dinner. The restaurant looked nice and was pleasantly decorated. We were seated fairly quickly and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. My wife and I got the Mi Goreng, Dry Chilli Chicken, lychee iced tea and mango sago. The Mi Goreng was good and we enjoyed it a lot. The Dry Chilli Chicken didn't really look like the picture and was just okay. I didn't mind the Lychee Iced Tea but it was basically just Iced Tea with a very small hint of lychee flavor, my wife wasn't a fan. The Mango Sago was disappointing, It was very liquidy and wasn't too refreshing, mango tasted good though. Overall, staff and ambiance are nice. The food was more of a miss than hit unfortunately.

This is an updated review as I haven't been back since that original review a few years ago. Came by on a Sunday afternoon for lunch to meet up with a friend who's also been here before. Service as usual was absolutely fantastic. He was so kind and helpful and made recommendations also. He was also very funny. We ordered quite a few dishes as you can tell from the photos and everything was really tasty and delicious Love coming here and trying some new things. This is definitely a must stop.

This is such a cute spot, tall ceiling with warm but chic decor, and plenty of easy parking in the lot behind the building. Staff was SO friendly from greeting us, to recommending menu items, to superb attention throughout our meal. That came in handy because the menu is quite expansive and can be confusing with the mix of visuals and line items. The menus we received had gone through quite a bit of wear and tear so at times it was hard to read and navigate. This didn't deter us though, we ended up asking a million questions instead haha. The food was very tasty and everything came out piping hot. They paced it so we could enjoy everything while warm. We got two sets of dumpling, two appetizers, and a larger noodle dish to share between two people. We probably could've ordered 2-3 more dumpling dishes. The dumplings really are the star so I would encourage you to order a variety to sample and try!

The restaurant is very well decorated, which makes an amazing environment for a date night with cozy bench seats or quaint tables. It's also a perfect place to go if you want to order many small dishes and share. Each dumping dish comes with 3-4 in steamer baskets making it perfect to go with 2-4 people. I recommend the siew mai, sichuan wonton, and gao zi in the dim sum menu and the enoki mushrooms from the appetizer menu. All of the dishes arrived quickly and stove hot and the experience overall was fantastic. The servers are attentive and checked in with us frequently.

Last time I was in town, my mom and I had lunch here. And it was only us two but we ordered for 6 for some reason but that's ok because used we got to take it home and eat it again later. My mom happens to always be cold so she ordered hot tea and soup but we also got fried rice, dumplings and skewers. Our eyes were hungrier than our stomachs. We even ordered dessert bao and they were so good. Fluffy and light and beautiful too. Service was great too - friendly and welcoming. This is a great restaurant and I recommend it.

My husband and I have dined here before. We've now returned with our kids. My son has severe sesame allergy and he felt safe eating here. Phat Phat was so accommodating and made sure sesame was completely eliminated in every dish we ordered so my son can enjoy what we ordered. Everything was delicious from the soup dumplings to the green beans and chicken wings, Indonesian noodle dish, and dessert. Our server Danny was attentive and so helpful. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely go back!

Ambiance - spacious, modern, it looks like they have a 2nd floor for when it's busy Service - server was very polite and we got our food within 10-15 min Food - Garlic Chicken Wings - super crispy & wasn't too salty Sheng Jian bao - filling was on the sweeter side, edges weren't crispy Nasi Goreng - fried egg was cooked to perfection, chicken was super tender Hot and sour soup - texture was fairly thicker than I'm used to

I was here on a double date with my cuzzos and we really enjoyed our time here! We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and the place was already starting to fill up. We were told that items tend to sell out quick so I recommend getting here as early as you can. By 6pm this place was jam packed. Although it was busy our service throughout was consistent and quick. For my drink I tried the lychee margarita. It was refreshing and fruity. I also took a sip of my husband's hibiscus flower cocktail which had mezcal in it. This was also sweet with a hint of smokiness. As far as food we all shared a bunch of items. The portions here are similar to tapas and I recommend ordering 2-3 plates per person. If you're a big fan of sharing food and trying different items this is the place to be. My favorites here were the pork soup dumplings, steamed veggie dumplings, fried tofu and garlic chicken wings. Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. This is a spot where I can see myself trying out the entire menu. IT'S THAT GOOD!!!

We do have some vegan items in our menu.

Do you have any gluten-free options?

We do have some items that are gluten free, but the choices are limited.

Do you have any halal meat options?

Surprisingly YES they do! Just ask the waiter. We didn't ask and when we were there the waiter freely told us they use halal meat! Still it's always best to ask which specific dishes are made solely with halal meat just to be on the safe side.

The sashimi seemed to get taken - and refilled - really fast. It seemed like most people were willing to wait for the crab legs to come out. We were not disappointed. The reason I took one star off is because I'd like to encourage the people who prepare the dim sum to aim a little higher. A server named Anny (or something close to that) was incredibly rude, dismissive, and openly condescending from the start. We asked a simple question about what drinks were included, and instead of answering like a normal server, she responded with "Drinks are drinks." That kind of attitude is unacceptable in any customer-facing job. It was lazy, disrespectful, and unnecessarily insulting. Only after I directly called out her response did she finally explain the drink options, and even then she did it with obvious irritation, like we were bothering her by asking a basic question. It got even worse when I went to the front desk to complain. Rather than apologizing or trying to fix the situation, she immediately became defensive and claimed, "I told you, you just didn't hear me." That was simply false. She did not properly explain anything until after I challenged her rude behavior. Then, instead of letting the issue go, she came back to our table looking angry and resentful, and gave us a completely insincere explanation. The worst part was her final comment: "You can say whatever you want. You already said it anyway." Then she walked away impatiently. That response alone tells you everything you need to know about her professionalism. This was not a misunderstanding. This was not "bad communication." This was a server with a nasty attitude who clearly does not know how to treat paying customers with basic respect. I've had normal service here before from other staff, so this stood out even more. One employee like this is enough to ruin the entire experience and make customers not want to come back. Management should take this seriously. Staff like this do real damage to a business.

My wife, her mom, and I were in Chicago to remember my father-in-law's death anniversary, and my sister-in-law chose Chef Ping's, for our party of nine for a Wednesday lunch. Parking is plentiful and the dining area can seat a lot. We got seated at a large round table in the back room, with a large lazy susan (just need to remember to spin it very slowly). We ordered a lot, and the food came out slowly. There was plenty of leftovers for the local folks to have for future meal or two. 3 Shrimp Toast (6 pieces each) - $26.85 - greasy but good, with the shrimp paste being a little sweet (in a good way) Noodle in Black Bean Sauce ($12.50) - this is jja jang myeon, which two of us had the previous night. It was OK, not near the top of the best I've had. Ping's Noodle Soup ($15.50) - the other classic Chinese-Korean dish, this is jjampong, a dish I've had many times. I was the only one to eat it, so ended up being my main dish. It was good, with thick noodles...just wish it had more seafood. Salt & Pepper Smelt ($16.90) - not sure if always available, but this was excellent...my favorite dish and one that I finished once I realized that everybody had their fill. It really depends on the quality of the smelt, which was excellent in this case. It was lightly battered, and carefully deep fried. Other dishes enjoyed by others: 2 Salt & Pepper Prawns - $35.90 - large head-on shell-on prawns fire wokked. The special family recipe of thier shrimp dish Gan Pong is nothing but fried shrimp with dried chili peppers and no flavor. The Hunan spicy beef and chicken appeared to be all globs and sticky because of excessive and over use of corn starch used during the cooking process. Turns out, the only thing that got better was my ability to ignore red flags. The food can be good--sometimes even genuinely tasty--but it's like playing culinary roulette. The same dish never tastes the same twice. It often feels like they just grab whatever ingredients are lying around, toss in some meat, and hope for the best. If you like consistency, you'll find yourself missing other restaurants while you're still sitting in this one. The service is a mood swing. A couple of servers are warm and hospitable, and I appreciate them. But others are rushed, cold, and oddly entitled about tips. I've had the bill slapped down while I'm mid-bite and plates whisked away before I'm done eating. I absolutely believe in tipping well for good service--but dropping food, not refilling drinks, barely checking in, and then hovering for a big tip isn't service; it's pressure with a fake smile. And then there's the rice. I never thought I'd have serious feelings about rice bowls, but here we are. They serve rice in tiny, kid-sized bowls like it's some rare limited-edition collectible. You're expected to stretch that little scoop across a full entrée. For what they charge, it sends a pretty clear message: generosity is not part of the business model. The final straw--and the reason I'm writing this--was my last visit. Shortly after eating there, I ended up with nasty stomach issues and two days of terrible diarrhea. I can't see what happens in the kitchen, but I can connect timing. Once I lose trust in a restaurant's hygiene, it's over. I've only given that "never again" label to one other place in my life. Yu's just earned the second spot. If you're reading this before going, imagine your future self looking back and saying, "Why did I ignore that review?" There are plenty of places where the food is consistent, the staff doesn't rush you or guilt-trip you for tips, rice isn't treated like gold, and you don't spend the next 48 hours regretting your decision. After five years of giving Yu's Mandarin chance after chance, I'm done. If you value your money, time, and stomach, you might want to skip the experiment altogether.

I have been to Penang many times, and it has always been for a special occasion. Today, I missed…read morethe taste of Malaysia so I came to dinner by myself. I ordered enough for two, which means I would have something for the next two meals. The restaurant has been around for a while, and it is a stand alone building. The menu, like what you will find in Malaysia - a mixed of Chinese, Malay, and Indian. The service is always prompt. Here's what I ordered: 1) Roti Canai served with Malaysian chicken curry - the curry is unlike Indian curry. This is a typical Malaysian style curry. You take a piece of the crispy yet a little chewy pan fried dough and dipped in this curry broth. That combination will kick off your appetite. 2) Seafood and Tofu clay pot - a mix of fish fillet, squid, shrimp, vegetables and homemade tofu served in a clay pot. The tofu is delicious - crispy outside with soft and silky center - chef's kiss! 3) String bean mixed with balacan - balacan is a Malaysian sambal sauce made with shrimp paste and chili. It has this savory, sweet and lightly spicy flavor mixed with crispy string beans. It was a delightful dinner! There are many other dishes that I'll come back for, especially other dishes with their homemade tofu.
