The vibe and aesthetic were great. The menu was accessed through a QR code, which was convenient. We booked the VIP room for a private party and were able to play our own playlist, which made the experience even better. The DJ on the main floor, however, didn't seem to be mixing much and mostly replayed the same songs after about 30 minutes. The service was spectacular. We ordered three bottles, which came with a pitcher of juice and four hookahs. You could choose to add mint flavor to the hookah or leave it out, though it still had a slight hint of mint even without it. Everyone also ordered individual drinks, which were about $25 each, and the wine bottle was $85. Anything we needed was brought to us quickly. My friends and I came here after a night out. I thought it was going to be a wind down, but this spot keeps the party going! No alcohol is served, but they have food, a diverse selection of music, hookah, and gorgeous views of LA. It's pricey, which is to be expected from the location and its connection to Yamashiro. However, I think the vibes are worth it. Only downside was that it was a bit of a hassle to get inside because we didn't have a reservation. We waited in the cold until they let us in, despite the fact that there was clearly plenty of space for us to be seated in the patio area. If you want to be seated in the main indoors area, make a reservation in advance. The patio was covered in heat lamps though, so the cold wasn't really an issue once we got seated. Refused entry to me when I was with my small service animal which is ILLEGAL. Claimed "people might be allergic to my hypoallergenic dog" and when I pointed out that I am actually allergic to dogs the bouncer came up with another excuse that people might not want to be around a dog. It is not legal in California to refuse entry for a service dog and the staff at this place do not know the law. They bring in entertainers like fire shows at like midnight so you know it's very extravagant inside, if you want more of a relaxed vibe - outside is perfect. Weeknights no reservation is needed. The hookah comes out quickly and the service is great. Valet is required at $20 a car. If you want to go on a very nice night out and aren't afraid to spend a bit of money, this is the definition of a great location to be at for great hookah, scenery, and overall vibe. They CHECK ID!! Getting that big I involves utilizing Instagram, in a way that I did not even attempt, as I assumed it was a rabbit hole of likes, follows and unanswered messages. In truth, I do not have the Hollywood look- regardless of what filter I use- thus, I did not even try to find my way into Yamashisha via IG, which I assumed was earned by those who are more glamorous than I. Instead, I used the talents that I possess and wrote a stunning review of Yamashiro, and was invited by the owner of the joint. Moral of the story--- city streets would be silent, if only the most melodic honks were pressed, and thus, I encourage you to find ways to your destinations, by utilizing the talents that you possess for the city needs noise from all, not just those who are known to be the best. My partner in sip for the night was my lovely friend Sharon. We got there, right when they opened, around 9:00 p.m. A woman and a man, a couple, were trying to be let in. The hostess was explaining to them, that it was nearly impossible as the place was meant to be full as the night progressed. The woman would not take no for answer. Her partner grabbed her by the arm, and was trying to usher her away. I and Sharon stood behind her. I letting my impatience radiate quietly, but with presence, like when someone is trying to sleep, light does not make noise, but it is felt deeply. I am sure that my disturbing light contributed to the man trying to get his partner away from the host stand with mild brusqueness. And I am glad, there were people with actual reservations, on deck. (hehe). Eventually, the host comforted the woman and said that they could check in an hour maybe then a table would be available, and one had to, the woman explained to the host. You see the woman and the man needed to be inside, because they were only in town for that night. I appreciated the woman and her persistence and tenacity, I have been that woman, pressing for a yes, cause I was too divine to be denied. However, as the person who heard her hem and haw in the face of firms no, did make me tired. Will I stop being that person in the future? Probably not. When you are fighting for a seat, you have to remember is a mission for you, and not a performance for others- so let them be irked, as we all have parts to play when we engaged in the drama that comes when you are committed to experiencing dining. Stepping inside into Yamashisha was like stepping into a wing of Agraba's fabled palace where the Sultan fed and soothe his guests. Sharon and I were seated in the patio, and the city lights were all around us, but in this particular night, the brightest light came from the moon-- full in all its glory. It shone above, being another character in the play around Sharon and me. At one point Sharon discussed its purpose--- we agreed that it had a man on its surface. I thought it granted wishes. Sharon did not. So apparently this man on the moon had no job,, he just existed in the moon. I still made a wish upon the moon's and its man on it- who knows, maybe dimes in wells do not work, but this might? On another wonderful note, a police helicopter flew across the sky. The sound cut through the peace adding disruptive melody, reminding us that the streets below were full of rowdy merchants and high-speed chases, which made the peace of the patio that much more precious because it was ephemeral. I guess, in a long winded way, I just reminded us to enjoy the moment, for all it is: Minutes that cannot be returned, so honor all that is around you, as if you were on a magic carpet ride. Sharon and I are not hookah fans, so we each had two potent cocktails. I cannot remember the name of the one I had twice, but it was basically strawberry and creme, elevated in a martini glass. It was sweet, creamy, and it had small marshmallows, yes like the ones you use on hot cocoa. The drinks were good and strong, and right for my taste needs. Which means that you will likely find something that will be right for your taste buds! Sharon is a picture taker, so she has a keen eye for the details that will translate to magnificent photos. For example, she found three monkeys hanging on trees. Not real monkeys, decorative monkeys that reminded us that we were in a garden with celestial qualities. The manicured trees, whose leafs decorated branches of twine, were further evidence that the garden was meant for royalty who were accustomed to know reigns of plush comfort and unrestrained excess, and not of famine and warfare. She and I got lost in the breeze, in the sky, in the sounds, and sights of it all, we clinked our drinks and simply toasted "life." A group of four guys were celebrating a birthday. I love hookah so I definitely had to try this place in LA. We were having dinner in LA from San Diego so we had to stop by here. The first time I was here, I ordered mint and it didnt taste like it so I sent it back. They brought a new one out then it was perfect! The second time I was here we ordered mint again and it didn't taste like mint at all. We actually sent like 3 back. I think they use the same hookah for all their flavors so if you're trying to get straight mint it's always going to be mixed. That I don't like. We spent over $3,000 at Yama Lounge and expected at least decent service instead, it was one of the worst experiences I've had at a high-end spot. The staff were inattentive, slow, and acted like they were doing us a favor by serving us. After spending that much money, you'd think they would treat their guests with some respect and appreciation, but that was far from the case. After eating a wonderful dinner at Yamashiro , which I cannot speak more highly about, just go there, I had the misfortune of just trying to walk into yaya shisha, I never made it past the security guard, we wanted to see the 600 years old pagoda that was part of the original yamashiro property and the security guard said if you aren't getting a table you cannot come in, so I have to poison my lungs to see a part of history and all of LA should be able to see. After face checking us for 3 minutes with reservations, the hostess Sonia sit us at the most horrible table right by the speaker. We asked her to be moved so we could hear each other. She said she would come back after what she ignored us and told us that could not be done, hoping that we would stay where she seated us. When you walk inside of this restaurant, you really feel like you are within the warmness of Morocco. Everyone is really attentive and they are very well organized in terms of keeping the Hookah up and bringing food and drinks. The security guard outside was also really great. Everyone that works there is from a different part of the world and they seem like one big happy family. The service is great, but sometimes its hard to get a waiter if its really busy. The drinks are strong and they have everything. The only reason I give them four stars and not five is that they dont have a lot of food on their menu so I would eat before I came here if you want a big meal. Also, be careful on the stairs going down to this place, they are a little hard to navigate. The pastry chef is amazing, our deserts were beyond delicious. Had the worst experience without even going inside. We arrived at 1am from a birthday party there was 1 couple standing and waiting for a table and us we were 5 girls. The girl in the front I believe her name was Aya she was sitting with a nasty attitude basically letting us know we're not gonna be able to be seated because it's full inside as 2 big groups had just walked out. We asked for the manager and instead of getting the manager she was sitting smirking and putting on her lip liner the whole time. After basically kicking us out a group of 5 guys walked in and they were told to wait to be seated how ironic she was able to seat the guys but not us. I'm pretty sure the food service inside and ambiance would have been great but wouldn't go back this place left a nasty taste in my mouth. My friends and I had a very disappointing experience at Yamashisha over Labor Day weekend. I had heard good things about the place and wanted to check it out for me and my friend's birthdays, especially since the views looked amazing. To make a reservation, you have to message them on Instagram. My friend, who had previously visited for hookah, DMed them and confirmed a reservation for 12:30 a.m. On the night of our reservation, we noticed that all the Instagram messages, including our reservation confirmation, had been unsent. Despite this, we decided to go since I was visiting from out of town and was eager to see the place. When we arrived at 12:40 a.m., the host, Maria, told us we couldn't be let in because, according to them, the reservation was for 11:30 p.m. We asked to see confirmation of the reservation from their end, but they could not provide it. The host was unhelpful and unwilling to let us wait for a spot to open up, even though we saw people leaving within the five minutes we were speaking to her. After failing to show any proof of an 11:30 p.m. reservation, the host stopped talking to us and instructed the security to "clear out the area," referring to us. This felt extremely disrespectful, and we decided to leave. Afterward, my friend reached out to the business on Instagram again. Eventually, someone responded and offered complimentary hookah for the host's unprofessional behavior. However, after the terrible treatment we received, we were not inclined to return. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. I felt disrespected and belittled for simply asking for assistance. I am not familiar with the area or such establishments, but the staff's behavior was completely unacceptable. Mistakes can happen, but we should not have been treated in such a manner. Even the valet attendants were rude. If the staff is encouraged to be unprofessional to maintain an illusion of exclusivity, then I would rather not patronize this establishment. read more

It was my nephew's 21st birthday, and I bought a round of tequila shots. After we had settled in, the staff gathered around us with small sparkling fireworks, 50 Cent pumping on the PA, and another shot for my nephew. He was in heaven. There was another celebration next to us, and they were having a great time as well. Beyond the customer service, the decor and view is fantastic.
