Our family went to the Phoenician Kabob and all of us including my 7 year old granddaughter enjoyed it. The food was authentic, tasty and plentiful. The service was friendly and helpful and the price was fair. We had an excellent and delicious experience and will definitely go back. Solid middle eastern place with a pretty extensive menu. I have ordered a few items for take-out on different occasions. My consistent experience with this place is that the service is stellar in this family run place and the prices are reasonable for the current climate. The food is flavored well and consistent but not always the most tender cuts of meat. I do enjoy supporting this place and they could be a 5-star review with slightly better cuts of meat. I have been a regular at Phoenician Kabob for a couple of years, and I wholeheartedly consider it the best restaurant in Aurora/Denver. I order something new almost every time I dine here, because everything is out of this world. The Jibneh with gyro and jalapeños is a staple, and my wife gets the saffron shrimp every time without fail, and it's phenomenal. The service is amazing every time, each person working at the restaurant is so kind and warm and helpful, the owner is very funny and thoughtful and welcoming every time I'm there. The chef is wonderfully talented and also so personable and kind. This place should be packed to the gills at all times, do yourself a favor and check it out. read more

We picked up food to go. We shared a chicken shawarma plate, an order of fattoush and an order of Zaatar. It was the best shawarma I've had here. Excellent fresh pita. Fantastic baba ganoush. Chicken Shwarma plate was pretty good, but not great. Lamb gyro plate wasn't good. Lamb pieces were more like fries: cut very thin, and very dry, a bit leathery and very salty. Service on a Sunday was lackadaisical. Table was exceptionally sticky, to the extent that we had to be careful lifting our glasses to avoid spilling them (I did spill mine). Didn't get one of the items we ordered (though we were full so we didn't complain). All said, the food was ok but not an experience that would bring us back. In an attempt to find joy today, my husband took me out to try some Middle Eastern food (my 2nd favorite after Italian), and it cured my day We tried Phoenician Kabob off Colfax in #Denver and WOW The labneh was out of this world and my fatayer lahme was delicious. The hummus and pita were also fantastic. Oh, and the fattoush was just *chef's kiss*. Service was also great! Highly recommend, 10/10. Ambiance of the restaurant was cozy, yet open and family-oriented. It was very clean and the bar top was glistening. Sadly disappointed. I was looking forward to trying this place with my half-Armenian mother-in-law who thought this place would live up to its star reviews. It was almost empty when we arrived on Saturday evening at 5:00 PM and the employees seemed eager to be helpful. Our server was very sweet. We ordered grape leaves and garlic dip with pita for appetizers and the grape leaves were fresh, warm and tasty. It was served with a yogurt dip which had little flavor but the garlic dip had ALL the garlic in Denver whipped into its fluffiness. It was actually too garlicky (I can't believe I'm saying that) but I added it to all the rest of the food I ordered which helped a little. While the pita bread looked freshly made, it was too hard and crispy to enjoy, like some ingredient was missing or the flour was old. My "salad" was comprised of chunked cucumber & tomatoes with a sprinkle of red onions but no dressing. Kinda bland. The 3-kebab plate I ordered came out smelling terrific and the rice was fabulously fragrant but the koftka was dry and over cooked as was the chicken kebab. The lamb kebab was tender and tasty however. The hummus was beautiful to behold but was sadly flavorless. It's like they forgot to season this batch when making it. A band began to set up prior us leaving, so perhaps it was good that we left. I really wanted to like this place but regrettably I cannot recommend it. read more

I decided to give Phoenician Kabob a try the other day after reading some pretty enthusiastic reviews, and while I was a little reticent to move on from a place I like well enough, the quest for better Baba Ghanouj got the better of me. I certainly did not regret the choice. I ordered the Veggie combo and added a side of Lamb Shawarma with garlic sauce for delivery. (They do have a combo that includes Gyro Meat and Chicken Shawarma too). The food was still steaming when it arrived. Everything in the combo was nicely spiced, right down to the cinnamon-scented rice. The falafels were crispy (I could've polished off more than the included 3 for sure). The hummus was thicker than some but artfully done, and the Baba Ghanouj...well it was everything I wanted. Super smoky and silky and not overwhelmed by tahini (which is my pet peeve). The included pitas were puffy, hot and perfect for stuffing and tearing (order extra!) The sauces addicting; the grape leaves flavorful. As for the lamb, it was a good sized serving and quite tasty. It did cool quickly, a risk with delivery. But I can't fault the restaurant for that. I will say that their choice of compostable containers made the decision more guilt free for me, and is probably reason enough to continue the deliciousness. The food is more expensive than competitors, which did make me hesitate initially, and ultimately the portion size of the combo wasn't that big. But it was fantastic. I discovered later that the restaurant has a website platform allowing for easy takeout orders, and the prices are significantly less than through Grubhub (~$4/entree or $2/dip). So now that I know what I'm working with, I'll definitely just pick it up myself. read more

We had dinner early on a Friday night. The food was great! I had Musaka it was delicious and my husband had Lamb Shwarma. He said the Lamb was some of the best he had ever had! Took my son here for dinner before our concert. The place is decently sized and casual. Our waiter was ok and not as attentive. He was young. Not sure how long he worked there, but I gave him grace and not let it bother me too much. He was very nice which I liked very much. We started off with some falafel to share. The falafels were delicious. My son ordered the meat combo plate which comes with pita bread. He chose two beef and one chicken kabobs. I ordered the gyro plate which doesn't come with pita bread. His serving of pita bread was more than plenty to share. The pita bread was so delicious and warm out of the oven. My son really enjoyed his meat combo plate. He said he liked the chicken kabob more than the beef kabobs. I really enjoyed my gyro plate. I also ordered a piece of baklava to try too. The baklava was good and not as sweet. I chose to grab takeout from this place because it was close by and my husband was in the mood for Mediterranean. Yelp showed good reviews and I thought why not. I got the gyro wrap with Dolmades and my husband got the meat plate with beef, lamb, and chicken kabobs. When I picked it up, they were offering dine in and social distancing. Staff did have masks and to go orders were spaced out on the counter. It smelled excellent and upon opening the dolmades I realized they were hand made not the average canned ones found at most Mediterranean restaurants. You could also tell the pita and tatziki were homemade too. This was a shock because we're Mediterranean snobs and I don't think I've had truly homemade med food before. My husband said the beef kabob was really delicious, the lamb was good and the chicken got a pretty good and a head nod. He said the pita was super fluffy which I verified as mine was also fluffy and fresh. My gyro meat was tasty. It wasn't as flavorful as other places but I would get it again. Actually I think that maybe a Mediterranean entree with gyro meat might have been slightly better because the gyro while good got a little soggy cus the pita was so fresh and soaked up the tatziki that was in it. Speaking of tatziki (which I know I'm spelling wrong...sorry!) it wasn't as flavorful as what I'm used to and was a little more liquidy but that could have been because it was in the hot food bag for a while. I think it would have been better refrigerated. As for price, it was about 52$ including tip for the gyro, Dolmades, and three kabob plate with rice, pita, hummus, and a salad. Id say fair but a little on the higher end of fair. Overall was it the greatest Mediterranean food ever? No, but it was solid. Husband liked the kabobs quite a bit and I'd be interested in trying other stuff on the menu. I ended up giving It a 4 due to overall flavour and the fact that it was all homemade. read more

I really hate leaving a bad review, but this had to be one of the worst meals I have ever had. I don't get how this place has high reviews. Maybe we were unlucky and caught them on a bad day, but as a restaurant you should be consistent. Food is extremely overpriced for how itty bitty tiny the portions are. Our chicken shawarma and chicken kebob was very cold and dry. They charge extra for a tiny side of garlic sauce which every Mediterranean restaurant includes at no charge. Each plate was around $22, so not worth it. Won't be going back. Hummus was also super overpriced and should be included in an entree. All the food was very flavorless. $90 for 2 people. Pretty darn good Mediterranean/Lebanese/middle eastern food located conveniently off of Colfax. My friend and I opted for the option with the most food and variety, which after consulting with the waiter was the Sultan Combo. This entree came with grave leaves, falafel, all sorts of meats, rice, tabbouleh, and two pieces of pita bread. The meal was a little pricey at $21, but it was very filling. I could tell that the food was freshly made rather than sitting under a heat lamp. I appreciated the prompt service that I received and I highly recommend this to any friends looking for delicious food near the Anschutz medical campus! I went today for a take out Hummas Shawarma w/ Chicken, I was given this place another chance from about 6 months ago when I got an order of Falafel. Both had no flavor. The falafel was so bland when I was there I asked where's the flavor, and was told falafel's are normally like that. The husband and I were trying to decide where to do delivery and saw Phoenician Kabob on a local list for still being open. We had enjoyed a few meals there in the past but this one made a boring night special and fun. Phoenician Kabob is another COVID star, they figured out how to get a great meal delivered while it was still hot and what needed to be cold was still cold. Great care was taken to make this meal perfect by wrapping everything individually. I had the vegetarian sampler with Falafel, hummus, baba ghanouj, tabbouleh salad and stuffed grape leaves. And the husband had Meat Combo Plate: Three Grilled Kabobs: chicken, beef, lamb. Both of us enjoyed our meal and had enough for a good lunch the next day, a bonus.
