Great Food! Great Service! We spent the weekend hiking the fire-towers in the Catskills and produced quite an appetite. We had the Calamari and Shrimp cocktail to start, the calamari could of used a bit more time in the oil or hotter oil they were a bit soggy but the shrimp were plump and fresh. The entree's we chose were the Prime NY Strip and the aged Cowboy Steak with a peppercorn sauce. The sauce was nothing to write home about but both steaks were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! The key lime pie with the pecan crust was different from the norm and very enjoyable the cannoli was mediocre. One of the better steakhouses outside of Montreal and NYC. My husband and I have been coming here regularly for nearly five years and have consistently had great food and great service. The menu is vast, yet everything I've had has been great. Portions are large, so much so that even when I'm hungry I order two appetizers (beet salad and seared tuna) and leave feeling stuffed. The pasta bolognese can easily be shared along with a salad. I also love the fusilli with broccoli rabe. Lauren the bartender is so hard working yet warm and friendly and always remembers our usual orders!! Daily specials are also great. I'm shocked by a few of the one star reviews. We've always been treated well here and have never witnessed anything but warm and inviting service by both new staff and veterans. Good steak but inflexible beyond. We took our friends out to celebrate and ordered six steaks, each $49- $59. All came with Parmesan mashed potatoes and vegetables. On the menu they offer baked potatoes or Parmesan mashed at $8 each. We asked for two of the mashed potatoes to be substituted for baked potatoes instead and were told it would not be possible; but that we can we add a baked potato for $8. The waitress was really nice and apologetic, but the kitchen wouldn't give us our minimal (and equal) substitution. While staying in Andes, the food choices are slim pickins specially during a weekday where most restaurants are closed. We really wanted somewhat of a night-out and some nice dinning and although this was a 30 minute ride from Andes, we trekked it on a Wednesday night and I'm so glad we did. The place is actually beautiful, with a wonderful fireplace in the main dining room and booths near the bar. Our waitress Brooke was very attentive, friendly and offered great service all around! We started with martinis which were literally perfect and $12 each which is cheaper than most considering they give you the shaker after they pour your martini tableside and you get almost another half a glass!! We ordered french onion soup, clam chowder, shared a ceasar salar and we were going to order the porterhouse for 2 but were so full we ended up splitting the 40oz Tomahawk instead which was HUGE and came with delicious scalloped potatoes. We also ordered a side of creamed spinach which was some of the best i've ever had. We were too full for dessert, although we were told they are very tasty. We had a nice time at this bar n grill in Jan 2021 despite the pandemic restrictions. We arrived shortly after the doors opened at 5pm on a Saturday so the place was clean and quiet but it did get busier. Great selection on food (see pix) and beverages though prices were a bit high - go figure - no happy hr, lol. The staff took the time to sing HBD to one in our group, which was nice and multiple servers took care of us both at the bar and table. It was a rare night out but hopefully more to come. Wish it could have been a better review, but the server ruined the meal. To begin with, don't respond to my questions by saying "Talk to me" every single time. I asked for a glass of Rose, not seeing there was a $12 and $9 option. Without asking he brings the $12, when i was ordering the $9 Berringer. Should I have seen the 2 options, maybe yes, but his responsibility is to ask which one I would like. I had 2 glasses and questioned it at the end of the meal. He just shrugged his shoulders and moved on. I asked about the Cowboy vs. the Sirloin. He "highly" recommended the Cowboy. It was 50% gristle and I sent back a plate full inedible fat and inedible meat. On the bright side, my wife did enjoy her meal. We will probably return, but be wary of which server we are assigned and order something different. read more

Wonderful food, atmosphere & service in Phoenicia. They have it right here from the subtle lighting and expansive bar to the best French Onion Soup in the Catskills! I come here just for the soup some nights. The menu has a lot to offer and there are many specials each evening. This place is a hidden gem in the Catskills... we drove up here from NYC for Mother's Day and decided on the Phoenicia Steak house for dinner. From the moment we entered this establishment to the moment we left everything was amazing. The staff was welcoming and attentive especially our waiter Joshua. Now let's talk about the food... We started off with two honeysuckle tequila drinks served in a martini glass (shaker provided table side if you dare pour your own) with salted rim. The warm kale salad with goat cheese and walnuts was delicious (I could eat this everyday). The 52 oz Porterhouse steak for two was cooked the way we wanted and juicy, totally mouth-watering. We added the half a steamed lobster to share (doubled dipped in truffle oil). The creamed spinach was super creamy and we love it. We also ordered sweet potato fries and requested that they added the truffle oil and Parmesan cheese (they had no problem doing so), they also came out amazing. We ended the meal with an espresso topped with whipped cream and the creme brûlée. It's so rare that you find a restaurant that hits every mark but this place did that and more. Visited Woodstock last week, and ate at this place as my husband wanted to eat at a steakhouse. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, and the staff & service was exceptional. We ordered to share: 1) Dry aged steak for two, 2) 2 side dishes (mashed potatoes & the ratatouille mixed vegetables), 3) steamed little neck clams. Everything was delicious, and our most favorite was the side dishes (mashed potatoes & the ratatouille mixed vegetables). The dry aged steak was delicious, but it wasn't our most favorite. I think since we tried Peter Luger's steak before, and comparing it to Peter's - the steak here was alright and nothing special. We thought there was too much steak sauce on the dry aged steak. This meal was the silver lining to our trip to the Catskills. Beofre we had medicore food and some really bad brunches, but Phoencican exceeded all expectations. The food was fantastic and the service was great. The menu had a lot to offer, but we ended up ordering the salmon, the cowboy steak, and the bacon Mac'N'cheese to share. The salmon came with some of the best risotto I've had in a very long time and the vegetables were very good as well. The steak was a great portion and came with mashed potatoes. Every year since my girlfriend and I have been dating we always plan a special Christmas date/weekend together instead of exchanging gifts. This year we booked a weekend getaway at a brand new beautiful bed and breakfast in the Catskills. Accompanied with these special trips we always have to find a good restaurant in the area. The Phoenician did not disappoint. I have been to many steakhouses in my time and this place had that same feel as soon as you walk in the door as many of the NYC staples. Our waiter was professional and friendly. To begin our order we started with a few glasses of red wine, a Cabernet and a Pinot Nior. Both were very good. For appetizers we had the Ahi Tuna and the Gnocchi special. The tuna was crusted with sesame seeds and perfectly cooked, served with cucumber and avocado and a simple sweet glaze. It was absolutely delicious. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked and paired with a rich tomato sauce cooked with onions and prosciutto. I'm sorry I do not have pictures of the appetizers. For our main courses we ordered the Bone-in Pork Chop and the Rack of lamb. I had been craving a good piece of lamb lately and heard they had a great lamb chop so I decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot. I was not disappointed. It was one of the better racks of lamb I've had in a very long time and cooked to perfection. It literally melted in my mouth, the herb crust and rosemary sauce was a wonderful addition. My girlfriend had the bone in pork chop with a melted Gorgonzola and a porcini mushroom and garlic sauce which was similar to a very rich and flavorful Marsala sauce. Again the chop was cooked perfectly and juicy but the sauce made it even better along with the Gorgonzola. It was exactly the meal we were hoping for. After all the food we had neither one of us could eat dessert. However our waiter insisted we take something to go on the house, so we took some of the cannoli home with us which were fresh and delicious. The three stars ambiance and that's really it. Called for a reservation, came a little early and had a drink at the bar. Our table was given to someone else but we ended up getting seated right away after they realized. The service started off strong and then our waiter disappeared. I got the ribeye and it had some sauce on it (almost like soy) that made it taste cheap and gross. My husband got the cowboy and it also had a sauce on it... but it wasn't necessary because it was dry aged? Overall not sure this place is worth it but not many options in the area. read more

Wish I could give less than one star! To start out with the older bartender lady 4 o clock on Fri 1/26 was just miserable and it showed. Very Unpleasant!! Then I ordered a lettuce wedge and my wife prime rib. The bartender came back and said they were out of Blue Cheese, So I declined to order something different. She then returned 5 minutes later and said she was in error, because they did have blue cheese. I agreed that I would go ahead and order the lettuce wedge for my dinner Entre. They brought the dish out a few minutes later.. Half of head of lettuce packed into a bowl of the same size with cold ham bits, what appear to be Ground feta in a whitish dressing with a side of what they called Blue cheese. cheese. Well,, it was not blue cheese!! It was warm mayonnaise. Appears they pulled it off a room-temp shelf and tried to pawn it off as blue cheese. It's no exaggeration when I tell you it was disgusting!!!! And as far as my wife's prime rib, she had to abandon more than half of it because it was just too much work trying to saw through the fat and grizzle and poor grade of beef. Worst Service and Meal that I've had in a very long time. Won't ever go back!!! Gross!! Also witnessed other people leaving with pout finishing their meals. read more

A wonderful dinner at the Phoenician. We went very early because we had a toddler with us and they were wonderful about making sure that his high chair was in place and we were seated in a great spot to allow him a little room to roam without disturbing other diners. The outdoor area was beautiful and allowed for plenty of social distancing. The food was very good. Steaks were cooked just as ordered and the service was outstanding. The bottle of rosé we ordered could have been a little colder, but it was acceptable. Service was excellent and any requests were addressed promptly. After passing this place a number of times on trips upstate we decided to try it for our anniversary dinner. The ambience was great, sanitizer placed throughout and all staff were wearing gloves and masks, food was delicious specifically the filet mignon and stuffed shrimp over angel hair and the portions were perfect. We did have to wait 40 minutes for a server to come to the table and even bring us water however they did comp drinks and once the waiter arrived he was fabulous; however an older woman hostess who gave us the spiel about being understaffed just stood around and did nothing while the wait staff ran around the room trying to accommodate everyone, so due to her lack of competence while people sat around and waited i deducted one star, understaffed is one thing but staff who stands around and does nothing is another. read more

Had a great dinner with my girlfriend here on a quite Thursday night. We had the place pretty much to ourselves which was really nice. We ordered the fried calamari which was very lightly breaded and not overfried like most places seem to make them. The Phoenician had a promotion that night where ordering Zuppe di Pesce for two also came with a Cesar salad and dessert for around $50. The Zuppe di Pesce was a real treat, didnt even mind shelling the lobster. Our server was Paul and he pushed this to a 5 star review. Paul made the meal feel like we were eating at home and brought a very relaxing atmosphere to the meal.
