This is my second review for this restaurant. The food is still excellent. However, they needed additional wait staff for the amount of customers. We ordered oysters on the half shell, oysters Rockefeller and panko mozzarella they all came out and were great. We finished them and sat for 20 min with empty dishes on our table. No one came to see if we even needed additional drinks. Our main courses came out and the table was still not cleared. One of us ordered the risotto and it came out dry. She asked for some broth to be added to it. It took 10 mins for that to happen. I will state again that the food was excellent. Management should reevaluate the personnel that is needed for good service. Our waiter was hustling but could not keep up with the demand. We've eaten there several times over the years. Most recently we ate twice in June. We dined outside and truly enjoyed ourselves. The tables are spread far apart and have umbrellas. I ordered two appetizers; Ahi Tuna and the Mussels. For me that was plenty of food. My wife went the traditional route and ordered a salad and the lamb chops. She actually could not finish the lamb and took some home. Desert was Key Lime pie which we thought was just okay, it's was too sweet and not tart enough. I think that they are understaffed (the entire country is at the moment) so the pace was leisurely. We plan on going back. read more

Have been twice recently because we had gift cards. Meals were fine but pretty much everything is overpriced. The cheapest steak on the menu was $49. and the person who had it said it was not outstanding, just okay. Other meals were fine...(but not outstanding). Also, between our first visit (when the portion size of the calamari appetizer was generous), and our second visit, the portions have shrunken. The other reason for a 3 star has to do with the take-out containers which were not eco-friendly. At this late spot in the game, it is time for a high class establishment to go the extra 5 cents to purchase the cardboard or tin alternative. Strip steak (usually my favorite cut) super overdone, flavor grilled away, tough. Super bummer. I did show this to the waiter. Nothing happened. Creamed spinach, inedible. Bummer, this is usually my favorite side. I ate half a bite. My son's salmon was alright but weird seasoning on the top that wasn't recognizable. He kind of just scraped it off. Music in the dining room.. BLARING loud top 40 bands like Train and whatever else. Worst music ever. We were the only people eating in there. We mentioned how loud and obnoxious it was... no one turned it down or changed it. Doesn't anyone think this sort of thing through? 80s pop hair metal and pricey meals? Not a combo I'd recommend. I've been a here a few times to give it a try. It's a local joint and I want to frequent it but just can't. I don't really know what they were thinking when they build this place, made the menu or thought this through. Maybe other people go for this sort of thing, I prefer other local joints a lot more. We have a bunch to choose from like Peekamoose, Zephyr & Tavern 214 that far surpass this spot. I think it is really time for Riccardellas, the food mafioso in Phoenicia to start thinking about fresh ingredients, local foods, menus that highlight local farms and well, chefs that can cook a steak. THREE STRIKES YOUR OUT!!! I have a house in Phoenicia the food situation is pretty good. I've gone to The Phoenician 3 times and every single time I've been there it's been an absolute let down. This last time I ordered a NY Strip medium. Its came out rare I said I want a new steak bc it's never good when they cook it longer. They send out a new one its EXACTLY the same. The waiter could not believe it. So I settled for them to just cook the second steak until it was medium. It came back the way I thought it would extra burnt on the outside but i was hungry so i ate it. All I'm saying is they charge u alot but they dont deliver AT ALL. They didnt even buy me a drink for the trouble. It's terrible business. I promise I will never go back. It looks great but it's always been a BIG disapointment. read more

I was sooo disappointed. This restaurant is run by amateurs. The staff is inexperienced teenagers. They almost throw the food on the table & run. They use roller trays to clean the tables & are constantly moving that mess around the restaurant & making noise. The food presentation from the kitchen is admirable, but the quality of the NY Strip steak was not up to the quality that I have had in other steak restaurants. The place is loud even with the social distancing tables..... When I booked my reservation they had asked me if this was a special occasion, I told them today is was my birthday. There was no acknowledgment of it during the evening at all. Don't ask if you aren't going to do or say anything...... I spent the weekend at the high class Emerson Resort & Spa, in the next town. As a born and raised restaurant owner, this was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. My $38 dinner was over cooked and had no flavor. Honestly I usually don't complain, but when I did mention my dissatisfaction I was told the manager was too busy to address the issue. I wasn't offered anything. We spent $350 for a fine dining experience that was horrible. To top it off the cooks that were clearly visible to the customers were not wearing masks. They were very family friendly--offered a booth that fit the carseat for our infant, and had booster seat and high chair options for my toddler. This restaurant was an absolute embarrassment! They were awkward and rude! The waitress used an iPad for ordering but was VERY slow because it took significant time for her to find each item in the system. I ordered a risotto side dish with my meal. After 10-15 minutes, the waitress came back (while we were enjoying our flight of beer and calamari appetizer) and said she was so sorry and they were out of risotto, was there anything I'd like instead. I declined. When the food came, the younger male food runner brought a dish of chicken and fries and said he was sorry they were out of risotto, please accept this dish on the house. Odd replacement, but we began picking at the fries immediately. Not two minutes later the boy returned and apologized that the dish he'd served was in fact NOT for us (despite his exact explanation of why he served it). And HE TOOK IT BACK even after we explained that we had already began to eat it. On top of that, a woman sitting at the bar not ten feet away, was then served her dish of RISOTTO after I'd been told they were out. This place puts on a pretty front, but it was TERRIBLE. This was our first stop after getting settled in from our drive. You are greeted immediately after coming into the door, the staff is very warm and welcoming. I got my drink and my husband settled for water. We ordered the mozzarella crusted with Panko and it came out in a more than reasonable amount of time. It was delicious !!!! We then order their weekday special my husband had a salad which was amazing as well, I had cocktail shrimp. We then had a 14oz NY strip steak each accompanied by a baked potato and creamed spinach. The steak was cooked perfectly. We also ordered bacon Mac and cheese. Everything was to die for!!! The bread with the whipped butter was also amazing everything was very fresh. We then had dessert I had creamer brûlée and it just hit the spot. My husband had the almond joy and he was over the moon. Needless to say our waitress was amazing ! She interacted with us all throughout dinner and it was great. Dessert was complimentary as way to thank us for our service as military personnel which wasn't necessary but that was very sweet of them. The hostess also thanked my husband and I for our service and said goodbye with a hug. I will definitely come back before I leave. when you are out of New York, don't expect to lose yourself choosing the place to eat. we went to Tannersville for a long Thanksgiving Weekend. and this place one of three places more or less close and with more or less good reviews on Yelp. we ordered two soups. mine was Clam Chowder,my husband took butternut squash. Attention! Portions here are really huge, to be honest if i knew i would not order the main coarse as i was totally full after finish the soup. The funny thing, they brings you bread with garlic butter as compliment, but then they also bring crackers in bag with each soup. Reminds me some school lunch. my second meal was really delicious. Stuffed crab meat shrimps... omg!) very good!!! my Italian husband went crazy when saw mix of this two types of fish. but when i put parmegano on the top, he almost have had a heartbreak. I live in Albany, but my parents live in Woodstock and they really like this place. While in town on business, they treated me out to dinner. We went here and I have to admit, I was really hesitant when ordering my beer off the draft list, I was informed it was no longer available. But things quickly improved. The waitstaff remembered my parents and were incredibly warm and welcoming to them. We ordered stuffed clams and I was pleased to note the clams were not chopped up but served whole. But really, it's all about the tater tots. Think of crispy and fried mashed potatoes, coated in panko. The outside was perfectly crispy while inside was creamy, buttery potato. So good!! I had a dozen steamers, also excellent, but my father's steak sandwich won first prize. There must have been 12oz of tender meat in that plate, plus tater tots and onion rings! Even our promised "complimentary drinks" which was offered only after a member of our party of 11 complained that the manager never came to the table to apologize for what was more than an inconvenience, materialized for only 3 of the 11 !!! Prime rib special on Fridays is a great deal at The Phoenician. We really enjoyed our well cooked prime rib, juicy and savory, with yummy Yorkshire pudding , mashed potatoes and string beans. Save room for the chocolate mousse cake that is included with the special Friday night deal. It was out of this world!! Fresh and delicious!!! Our server Gavin was terrific, attentive and friendly. Two problems though, probably unique to our particular visit this evening...- there was an issue with the ventilation system so the entire restaurant was filled with smoke. It got better by the time we left though. There were two large parties in the larger dining room and the noise was very loud. The acoustics in this restaurant need improvement. If you're familiar with this area, you probably know that Ricciardella's was one of, if not the best restaurant around. The Phoenician, under the same ownership with the same head chef, is essentially Ricciardella's with an expanded steak variety. The place is huge, the ceilings almost too tall. Still has a nice "formal" restaurant feel which is hard to come by in the Catskills, and hugely appreciated by a visiting NYC/Long Island person. The calamari are breaded and cooked as well as you're going to ever have. The bread is served fresh out of the oven and has fantastic flavor. Baked clams are delicious. The short rib ravioli are to die for, just as they were at Ricciardella's. I would recommend getting a pasta or seafood dish, despite the word "steakhouse" their title. For dessert, you have to go with the chocolate trifecta. The flourless chocolate cake from Ricciardella's has been amped up with chocolate mousse and white chocolate whipped cream. So heavy, but so worth it. The only restaurant around here that I'd come back to every time. read more

Where to even begin?! The moment you pull up to this restaurant it is already gorgeous. Then, you walk in to this beautiful interior (which was gorgeous and well put together). We were greeted by someone immediately and taken to our table. This is where we met our server Terry. He was awesome, and was super courteous to our needs! There were four of us that went and we had the steak special and the salmon special (Wednesday night is steak night/ salmon night). Everything was prepared perfectly and the food was absolutely delicious! In fact it was so good everyone ate everything including dessert, which for us is super rare to finish everything. It was like they sprinkled magic powder on the entrees to make us clean our plates haha. I can't wait to come back and have terry as our server. Wife and I came here on our 6th anniversary vacation -- we were here 6 years ago and had bad memories but thought we'd give it another shot. 16 oz ribeye was 1/2 as thick as you'd expect a ribeye to be, so 4 oz of it was in untrimmed fat.
