This restaurant is just around the corner from us but we rarely go there. We went for dinner and the service was good, the food was good but we weren't wowed. We ordered the lettuce wraps to start and they were flavorful and the lettuce was fresh. We also ordered a thai curry noodle with chicken and shrimp and the honey pecan chicken. The noodle dish was ok but made amazing because of the in house made chili sauce. The highlight of the honey pecan chicken was clearly the candied pecans. The chicken was tender and sauced well but lacked that umami flavor. Will we be back? Only time will tell read more

Enjoyed fantastic dinner recently at Phoenix, my only complaint is that this spot isn't closer to my house! We were greeted by the hostess upon entry and quickly seated. Server was very attentive taking our drink and then food orders. He checked back regularly throughout the meal making sure we didn't need anything for to refill our drinks. We got an order of the lettuce wraps to start, which were del IOU's, then I got an order of the Phoenix chicken, which came with a side of brown or white rice. My wife got the combo lo mein with chicken and shrimp. Everything was absolutely devious, and portion sizes very generous, leaving us enough for (2) additional lunches. If you've never been to Phoenix, I'd absolutely recommend it. We headed back to Phoenix and of course had to get the crab wontons again. Still amazing! Still my favorites! I got the shrimp habachi dish with white rice. It was phenomenal! When it came out, I was shocked with the size of the shrimp--they were massive and perfectly cooked. For desert, we split the banana spring rolls. They're fantastic too! I can't decide if I like them or the cheesecake desert is the best. We sat in the bar at the tall tables and it was a nice experience. We could see the TVs and it was a very chill vibe. It's been a long time since I wrote a review of this place, and I have been a couple times recently for dinner out with a group, so it is definitely high time for an update. In truth though, i don't feel a whole lot different than I did in my first review, in that it's not a great value and the food is pretty hit and miss. That mirrors my most recent experience. I will say, the staff did an incredible job handling our large group of about 20 people, and some of them were pretty demanding. They had a few people handling us and checking on us, and that was very much appreciated, making this a definite top destination for groups. The restaurant was clean and attractive as it always has been. A few starters were ordered around the table, I order my crab volcano roll because it's something unique I can really find elsewhere. Unfortunately, it just continues to get smaller and smaller overtime. This time, I found the actual roll pieces to be about the size of what you'd find in a grocery store. The crab dip over the top is still the highlight, and really what you're ordering it for, so I suppose i'll continue to order it but really just for myself. It's no longer shareable unless maybe with 1 other person. There was also lots of soup, and even in the smaller size, the portion was really big, and it comes with a nice helping of the fried noodles. In truth, I wish I could just get a basket of the fried noodles. Maybe I'll ask next time. For dinner, someone was talking about how amazing the "Dragon's Nest" was and it was highlighted as a house specialty. So I went for it, instead of a dish I had had before. When it came out, it definitely looked interesting in it's literal fried nest with seafood and veggies. Unfortunately, I found it just to be so bland. Like, nothing really had a standout flavor, it was not much better than if the seafood were boiled. Certainly nothing "wok-seared" as the description indicated. I ate it because I was hungry and it was not exactly cheap. I would definitely not re-order this. I did get bites of other things around the table, and they were much better. Anything fried and sauced seemed to be the more reliable option for flavor, and the Mongolian beef. In the end, this is still a place that I don't usually choose, but get invited to a fair amount. When you walk into the restaurant the distinctive smell of Chinese cooking hits you in the face. This quickly brings me back to my old middle school days when my friends and I got that special permission from our parents to walk across the street to our local Chinese restaurant and indulge on the last day off school. Boy we felt important! The smells are nostalgic but the food is not. A fusion of old time favorites and a more contemporary flair like a PF Chang makes this place a favorite! Service is great too. I do wish they would serve some of the New England Traditional Cocktails one gets in the more northern restaurants, but we do visit here often and like it a lot. read more

They get high marks as it was my first time dining and it was with a large group of 12 and it was the perfect spot for that size group. Lots of restaurants cannot execute well with a large party. We had appetizers, soups and entrees and all were good with no complaints . Several people had sushi . Our server was excellent. The apps of wontons, edamame, wonton soup was enjoyed . The restaurant has pretty room and great ambience. The tables and chairs are comfortable. Our waitress was very attentive almost a little too much...lol If we dropped a small piece of paper she was there to remove it. We finished our sushi, but we weren't quite done with the side of ginger. She came by and scooped up the plate without asking. Literally as my friend lifted her chopstick from the plate. When the food was brought out, she had placed take out boxes beside our table before we could start eating. It wasn't the worst thing, but it just seemed like we were being rushed. She was attentive with refilling our waters. I ordered the beef and shrimp Phoenix lo mein. The portion size was just enough, but there were barely any vegetables in it. There were a few shrimp and lots of beef. The lo mein was very salty to me. The beef didn't have that much seasoning so I added some soy sauce, but I regret doing that, because it made the lo mein even saltier. My friend enjoyed her salmon. She said the vegetables were tasty and the salmon texture was good. If your child doesn't like Chinese food, this probably isn't a good place for them. Overall, I peeped the other meals being served around the restaurant and they looked tasty. I would return to try something differently. Me and some friends grabbed dinner at Phoenix recently and really enjoyed it! We started with the California wontons and potstickers. They both were really good. The potstickers was full of meat and had nice flavor. The California wontons were like crab rangoons and were super good! They were nice and crispy on the outside but creamy on the inside. I have visited here many times food is good nothing to exciting. But they are consistent. This time we brought a friend to introduce her to Thai food. We did arrive 40 min before closing. Me and my wife already know what we want. Are waitresses Nora arrives at the table with our waters and throws straws on the table, Greats with a bad attitude. Then lets us know kitchen will close in 10 min and walks away. I worked in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. So know we where going to be out by the time we closed. We left the restaurant at 9:05 only reason we left 5 min after is it took forever to get the check. She brought no refills as drinks sat empty. She never checked on the table once appetizers of food was ran to the table. This was by far the worst service I have ever had here. I don't know if she was having a bad day. As for the food we all ordered Pad Thia and for appetizers we had crab wonton and spring rolls. Out of most of the place we go I believe they have some of the best wontons they are creamy with crab you can taste and see. The Pad Thai is average plating is ok. So we are somewhat regulars here, usually come in about once a month.... And we've had a couple bad experiences at Phoenix in the past but hadn't gone with a large group in a few years so decided to give it a try again. Food is 10/10 but service is just lacking. Now, let me make some disclaimers - we went with a very large party, a couple people were late, and we had a couple young kids, so patience was a little thin. We weren't there for a nice evening out. It took the server 30 minutes to take our order, our food came out after we had been there an hour, and I was waiting on a refill for water (along with several others) for over 20 minutes. We ordered our dishes (phoenix chicken and white rice) for both myself and my husband, and got one water refill that we sparingly drank afterwards knowing it wasn't happening again. We got our bill and were charged extra for rice? Again, we come here frequently enough to know that I didn't get any extra than normal. So I asked the server if it was a new rule, and she said no, that we as a table, ordered too much extra rice, and she picked two or three couples to put the charge on. It was $2.75? For a pint of rice? Long story short, someone from our table asked to speak with the manager. My husband was discussing with the server that he wouldn't be paying the extra amount as the menu didn't state the charge and that he didn't feel like the table got extra rice at all, nor did she tell us the extra would be a charge, and she got very loud and threatened to call the police, and later throwing in a comment saying we didn't get refills because she was fetching rice for the table constantly. Also said to everyone but my husband and the other person who spoke to the manager "pleasure to serve YOU" but didn't say anything to us and didn't give us fortune cookies. It was all very embarrassing, the manager did take the rice off the bills at the end but we still were forced to pay the 20%gratuity for large parties. I really don't think we will be back here even for a lunch date. It's a shame because we do get good service sometimes and the food is always super. read more

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I was excited to try some of their dishes. I was there to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Upon entering, I thought it was a pretty decent space, however there were a lot of parties happening so it seemed really tight trying to maneuver between everyone to get to my party. A waitress greeted us and took our drink orders and poor thing, I swear she had every party but she remained pleasant throughout it all which definitely helped. For the food, after taking our food orders, it took FOREVER to get it. To give you context, we sat down at 6p, ordered our food around 6:20 and didn't get our food until around 7:15-20. I ordered basic sushi (California and Shrimp Tempura) rolls which I thought was pretty easy to fix and wouldn't take long but I was absolutely wrong on that thought process. Also the family pretty much ordered the Phoenix chicken and shrimp dishes and pineapple rice and still took longer than expected. I will say the Phoenix shrimp was delicious but it wasn't spicy at all even though the menu had the peppers to indicate it would be. Our waiter let us know that right away and not in a friendly sort of way. We rushed to order before the kitchen closed as we were reminded 2-3 times. I got the Phoenix chicken. It was fried too hard for me. My friend got the sweet and sour chicken. She said it was pretty good. We both took some home in a to go box. I tasted it again wanting to love it but the chicken was fried so hard. I ended up throwing most of mine away. The spring roll that came with the lunch special was nice and crispy. The wonton soup was good as well. We also ordered a shrimp appetizer. It was good and tasty. Cooked fresh and shrimp very tender. I have a feeling my chicken dish was probably not fried fresh and I may have gotten leftovers cooked from earlier. Since we had to rush to order and eat, I did not it have a restful time with my friend. I guess we should have gone somewhere else when we found out the kitchen was closing. The waiter was efficient but not friendly. Ready to go home or clean up I guess. It will probably be a while before I go back. We came to Phoenix a couple of weeks ago for a gift exchange with a friend. I have no idea why but we always forget about Phoenix as an option for Asian cuisine and is much better than supporting a chain restaurant. For appetizers we got the short ribs - nothing short of amazing. These were the star of the night for me. Perfectly tender and saucy. We also got pot stickers and calamari - both which weren't my fav. The calamari was a little chewy for my taste and pot stickers didn't have a flavor I was particularly fond of. No worries though - the short ribs made up for both. Our entree of honey chicken and the deep fried sushi roll were exceptional as well. I love a deep fried roll with cream cheese and the honey chicken with white rice was great. The only down side I will say is I think they are filling the soy sauce up with half water. I've noticed places are starting to do that and it takes away from the flavor I'm trying to achieve when I put it on my food. Overall not a bad experience at all and will definitely be back for more sushi, short ribs, and honey chicken! read more

I just keep coming back for the Ma Po Tofu with Vegetables. It is my favorite tofu dish in Greensboro. Phoenix has such a pretty interior with many Asian accents. The waitstaff is always attentive and polite. The lunch specials are a good deal at $12.99. They include a choice of lunch entree, with soup or salad and an egg roll. If I am not ordering the chicken and broccoli, I get the chicken teriyaki. But, it the tofu I am really after. read more

Not my favorite sushi experience. The food looked very appealing. It was colorful and bright, but lacked any real flavor. It was all one note. The same is for the shrimp we split. The service was lacking also. There may have been three other tables occupied when we arrived, but it took quite a while for anyone to greet us and once were sat, it took a while for the server to come over. He brought the wrong drinks to our table and couldn't make any recommendations from the menu. For the 16.50 they charge for the sushi roll, I expected a better experience overall. Previously visited this location a year ago and returned for more. This time was truly disappointed, we had ordered the pan fried dumplings and California wontons to start. The California wontons were pretty standard cream cheese wontons, the sweet chili sauce that came with elevated them to stand out. The dumplings would be barely passed as pan fried and there was entirely too much filling that made the dumplings somewhat unpleasant to eat. I had ordered the pineapple fried rice which came as a huge portion however my shrimp were fresh from refrigerator cold and the dish overall did not have much taste to it unless you had bites of pineapple. Ended up having stomach upset after eating this dish and suspect it might have to do with the cold shrimp. The other entrees ordered were the honey chicken and Thai noodles which were fine. Did not finish the fried rice and did not bother packing it to go. Was disappointed in the food as phoenix is usually a go to. read more

I just walked in to order something quick and yummy for takeout after 10 hour drive from Manhattan for a swim meet. I ordered Pad Thai with shrimp to go. The price was $15 something. I gave her $20 bill and there was a weird blank moment. I was like "????" and she said " oh. Change ? Sorry because some people give me the change" . And she said gave me some change. I didn't even check it as I was a bit surprised the exchange. She didn't give me the receipt. So I don't know how much it was after all. This doesn't happen much in New York. For me, it was the first time. People just don't take ithe change like that. Came back in a hotel and found there was no chopstick or plastic folk or napkins in paper bag except pad thai and one fortune cookie. I guess no tip of 35% means no chopisrils or anything.
