Have been meaning to get to this place for a while now and I'm so glad I finally did! Pleasants Provisions is a laid back but upscale restaurant, bar, and take out spot...sounds common but it sets itself apart with it's small but creative menu, amazing service, nightly drink specials, and elevated "provisions" section of the space. We were very lucky to have Ahkell (sp) on our first visit...knowledge, friendly, helpful and professional. The menu consists of first bites, small plates, entrees, salads and a small, but thoughtful selection of desserts to finish. We chose outside seating but the interior is open, bright and nicely decorated... feels like a great date night spot but not fussy at all. We ordered two different local beer specials (those rotate) and the catfish and burger salad. Both were nicely plated and delicious. The catfish was broiled and served with a green curry, which was packed with flavor. This isn't your typical green curry, it's described as a "northern curry" and it's thick vs creamy. I ordered the burger salad because i wanted to try their top seller...it's served with homemade chips and a creamy burger sauce. It was a very nice option for a summer dinner. Great vibe! Great food! The vibe is clean cool and charming. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The service was great! Our server was super nice and attentive. I had the Caesar salad with a seared salmon filet added on top. This was delicious. The dressing wasn't a traditional Caesar, it was much more mustardy but I didn't mind this at all. They prepared it perfectly. I felt like every piece of romaine was a desirable one (no thick stems). Dressing coated every leaf but was not over baring and didn't make it heavy. The salmon was cooked great and had a lot of flavor. The burger salad looked delicious. My friend loved it! We also had the hummus plate for an appetizer. It was very fresh and very tasty! My wife and I went here on a date night Wednesday. Mid-week date nights to me are the best since restaurants are not busy and like this will have specials. Wednesday currently is $5 drafts, so look to FB, or IG for the specials. There is a nice atmosphere here and some "provisions", wine, beer and specialty items. We got a couple of beers on the rotating drafts. The selection is smaller but decent. There are various Asian fusion plates both big and small, we opted for the Banh Mi. The sandwich was good, but small to split but we weren't hungry so it worked. Nice flavor in the sandwich but no sides are served with it. Worth a visit to get away and not on a over crowded restaurant. read more

Pleasants Provisions was a really interesting spot. The inside is super chic, lots of wood mixed with dark accent walls, and the lighting was honestly amazing. The whole vibe felt stylish but still really relaxed. They had $5 pint beers on Wednesday, which is a great deal, and the bartender was extremely nice. We ordered the banh mi and split it since we'd already had a big lunch. I love banh mi sandwiches, but this one wasn't my favorite -- a little too meat-heavy for me, and $15 felt a bit pricey for the size. You can definitely get a bigger banh mi for less at a Vietnamese spot in Greensboro, but you're definitely paying for the atmosphere here. They also have a separate little market area with snacks, liquor, fancy chocolates, and other cool stuff, which was fun to browse. Restaurant and part market where they retail groceries and ready made meals and a lot of wine ! They have a big bar area which is super nice and a big patio seating area out front. Service was really good Logan was on the go all night but managed to get everything we needed. They have daily specials on drinks which is always nice . We got $3 off glasses of wine / 50% off wine bottles to go. Nice ! Their wine menu is pretty great and they have a lot of variety in white and red and even rose and orange and bubbles. Beer and cocktails Also. I was disappointed they didn't have any Aperol for spritzes . That's a must this season!! We got a bottle of their Cava and another friend had a couple of glasses of their Tempranillo which she said was really good . We enjoyed the cava, light and very bubbly and dry. The menu is Asian inspired and not huge which is nice so you can decide quickly ! We had the shrimp ceviche to start which was really good flavor instead of chopped everything the shrimp was whole and sauce very light so not your average ceviche . Served with these great crackers that were seasoned . Not a big portion but it is a small plate !! Then we split the Bahn mi and the Thai chicken laab . Both were great in flavor the sandwich is kinda small too than ones I've had other places but had good seasoned pork and veggies. The laab is not cold like I've had before so I was glad about that. I liked this a lot good basil taste. Could have used some veggies maybe to give it a little boost. The pickled ginger was yummy. This was a good sharing bowl. Had the coconut chocolate mousse. Which was very light and easy to eat . Didn't get much coconut honestly but it was presented beautifully with sliced strawberries and a chocolate straw. Also tried the Gochujang cookie. Interesting! Big cookie with a sweetness yet a little kick here and there. Was really good with a little choc mousse on it! Nice and soft , never had this before and kinda enjoyed it! Lastly we had a great espresso martini but they didn't garnish!! You have to have beans to have a true espresso martini. Taste was great though. Small glass though for the price. All in all I enjoyed trying this place and will be back. Seems like they change out menu items often so maybe I'll be back later in summer. They need a few tweaks but they are still new ! We live nearby and saw this place pop up so figured we had to try it one night on a walk. We went on the first night they were open so they were still putting things on their shelves in the market section and did not have their liquor license yet. The inside is really beautiful and clean and modern, we love the vibes. We sat at their beautiful bar and had great service there. We were even saying we'd want our bar in our future house to look like their bar- it was beautiful! The dishes are very unique, largely Southeast Asian inspired and really were great. I even surprised myself with how much I loved the cold sesame noodle dish which I usually don't like cold food for dinner, but it wound up being the best thing we ate. I think about those noodles often. I definitely would come back for the clean upscale but casual vibes. read more

Great new Asian fusion spot that just opened in Winston! Love the vibe and ambiance of the place, definitely a spot you can chill and have a nice drink or two at. My girlfriend and I went here for brunch but we'll make sure we come again during the night time. I highly recommend the Thai Chicken Laab and the Bahn Mi, both very delicious. Although not on the menu yet, they do serve coffee as well, can't go wrong with the Nitro Cold Brew or the Iced Americano. I love everything about Pleasants Provisions. The whole look and feel just works. From the bar to the provisions area to the way the food and wine are presented, it feels thoughtful without trying too hard. It's such a gift to have a place like this in the West End. We went in the dead of winter and it was still amazing. Cozy, warm, inviting... the kind of place that makes you forget it's freezing outside. Our server, Chelsea, was wonderful. So warm, so attentive, and her recommendations were spot on. The Pinot Noir was perfect, and we started with the cheese plate and hummus which were both beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. My daughter and I split the hamburger salad and I'm not kidding when I say I'll order it every single time. It was that good. We ended the night by grabbing ice cream sandwiches to bring home, which felt like the sweetest little bonus. The space is clean, beautifully decorated, and just has that inviting energy you want in a neighborhood spot. I cannot wait for warmer weather because sitting outside there is going to be so good. My new favorite restaurant in town. Matt Pleasants has been my favorite chef in winston since the Honeypot, and this new spot is more than I could have hoped for. The food is creative, unique and delicious, the service is excellent, atmosphere chill and vibey. They've got a nice selection of take home food and local groceries as well. We've been 3 times now since opening. I have enjoyed the burger salad each time. My husband gets the Soba noodles. Tonight he said they were inedible. He would never complain or send anything back. What I find a bit more frustration, as we were only 2 of 4 people there the bar tender didn't take notice in the fact that he didn't eat his food and was eating mine and when asked if he wanted a box, we said no. Still no notice. While I personally hate to not go back and support this new restaurant in WS, unfortunately my husband will never go back. If only the 2 bartenders that saw his full plate of food uneaten would have taken more notice or more concern maybe we'd go back. read more
