I had a solid experience at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Greyhound Station. The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, which always makes travel smoother. While the building itself is older, it was clean and well maintained. There were also plenty of snack options available, which was convenient to grab something before the ride. Greyhound Bus SUCKS. I needed to get to El Paso Texas from Phoenix. There was no flights available at the moment so I had to take a bus. When I got to the location in Phoenix, the three women at the counter told me to use the app. When I went to use the app, it wasn't working so they assisted me. At a time I tried to purchase my ticket. Their debit card machine wasn't working. We tried my American Express and it would not take my card. Next, we tried my Bank of America card and it would not take that. The ladies even said that the terminal has problems with Bank of America. Next, we tried my Chase card and it did accept that but it double billed me. I explained to them the price and they said just get on the bus since it was leaving and to dispute the charges. I have disputed it with not 1 repose from Greyhound. It's now 30 days + and I called Greyhound tonight to speak to you a woman I couldn't understand. I had to ask her over 10 times what she was saying. I asked for a supervisor over 10 times and she kept refusing until I got furious and she finally put me on hold. No supervisor ever got on the phone, but the representative told me that there was nothing they could do. So I told them I would just dispute it with my credit card company and they will get a charge back. On a trip the bus was almost empty. There was only eight people on the bus. I chose to sit more towards in the back since the seat were completely uncomfortable. And there was dirt and grind food crumbs all over the place. I've never taken a bus anywhere before and this was just disgusting. I will say the bathroom was clean however, the rest of the bus was not. My son was traveling from college in Redding, CA to Portland, Oregon, but he was dropped off in Grants Pass, Oregon (close to half way) which is three hours away, because the rest of the ride was cancelled. He is 18 years old and was trying to go see family for the summer from college. He was left in a town he is unfamiliar with, in the rain, with nowhere to go. I contacted customer service, and they informed me that no bus is coming as the route to Portland was cancelled and no refund would be issued because he was already on the ride. This situation is extremely frustrating and my son now has to wait in a restaurant for several hours while a family member comes and gets him!!! I want this investigated at the highest level from better business bureau. read more

We had a flight into Phoenix and then a bus ride scheduled at 2:15 am. We got there at 2:13. They told us we would have to wave our flashlights at the bus driver to get him to open the door for us as that was the only person who could let us through the locked doors. We waved our flashlights and tickets at the bus driver until 2:18 and then watched him leave without us, all 3 of us were fully on time. We were furious, then they proceeded to tell us at the counter that it was cash only to buy a new ticket, and the next bus was 2 hours later at 4:05 am. I have never seen such disrespect for customers in a long time. Its my first time taking the Greyhound from Tucson to LA. From the moment the bus ride started the female operation was yelling at people regarding their devices being on. A female passenger moved to the front of the bus because someone had spilled a drink on her and with no empathy was asked to move back to her seat. We arrived to Phoenix and no instructions were given except to get off the bus. I got off went to the restroom and I could hear the female driver yelling at the passengers to get off. I tried to return to the bus because I had no idea we would have to wait until 1am to get back on the bus. The security guard from the station starts yelling at me instead of explaining. The people getting off appeared upset. The bus ride isn't free, we are paying customers and what it appears to me is that Greyhound is okay with treating people with disrespect. Most of the folks on the bus are black and brown and many have a language barrier so perhaps this driver feels like no one is going to speak up,or maybe this behavior is okay with the Grayhound company. If your are worried about COVID - DO NOT RIDE GREYHOUND. They could care less about social distancing. They have the bus packed, 2 random strangers sitting next to each other. Majority had on facemask, but as usually about 15 folks has the mask on their chin. When you check in, they don't ask about sickness, take temps or anything. All this company cares about is there money. Try FlixBus or take an Amtrak- its about the same price. Can't see myself using this company again. They are not required to provide air conditioning, or apparently a lite bulb in the bathroom, it doesn't matter if the seats look all tore up, in some horrible repair gone wrong, the over filth of the vehicles, and the facility's is a new low in the history of America business.. I am in Phoenix for training and due to a schedule change, couldn't get a rental or flight down to Tucson (hometown). My only other choice was good ol' Greyhound. Yes you hear horror stories of the area, people who "hang" out there but hey I gotta get past that so I can go about my day. I came a day earlier to scope the place out, make sure this was the departing location, yes theres another one. When I arrived, I looked to the right of me and there were two kiosks and a lady behind the counter. I approached her and Gloria gave me the 411. She was nice and helpful. Fast forward today, I arrived and greeted her. She said Good Morning and remembered from previous day. Also stop by the Cactus Cafe to see what goodies they had to smack on. Rosa was refilling the cooler and as well greeted me with a welcoming good morning and helped me with items there. So yes if you are able to not interact with your surroundings, your good. read more

On March 7th, 2020 at 4:25 PM one of the drivers, Mohamed, racially profiled two black women waiting in line. This was the bus going from Phoenix to Los Angeles. A woman was helping another pregnant woman with her bags, they were not traveling together. The driver accused the woman who was helping with the bags of recording him while she was FaceTiming her friend. My friend who I was traveling with me tried to explain this to the driver and security when he let us cut them in line and he told her, "Don't advocate for situations you do not understand." They had called security on the two women prior before my friend stepped in. This is a clear indication of racial profiling as the driver allowed people to board first before the two black women after this altercation. He then allowed the woman who he accused of recording him to board the bus provided she, " Sit in the back of the bus and stay quiet." In case anyone at Greyhound cares, this happened on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at 12:49 pm. I will never take a Greyhound bus again because of my experience at this bus station... First of all, the TV's that list the arriving and departing buses aren't accurate. They list buses that have already left the station and they don't even indicate when a bus is boarding. My bus was supposed to leave from gate #2, so I waited where I could see the people at gate #2 90 minutes before my bus was scheduled to leave. They did not announce when my bus arrived or, as I found out later, when it was boarding or departing. 10 minutes after my bus was supposed to depart, I asked the Greyhound boarding attendant what was going on. The person I spoke with, Jimmy, said it just left. I asked him why he didn't announce it and he said "Didn't you see how busy I was? I didn't have time to announce it." So I asked Jimmy how I was supposed to know when to board and he said when I saw the other people boarding. But I pointed out that nobody had boarded anything at gate #2 people were still standing there. Jimmy just walked away from me. Then when I talked to his manager, Jimmy lied and said he announced it. He didn't. Nobody did. They told me the next bus would be there in 15 minutes and that I could take that bus. It didn't arrive for another hour. And when it did, no announcements. To add insult to injury, they had a sign that said they cared so much about customer service that they had 2 managers listed with their phone numbers. I called both, nobody answered either, I left a message on both and neither of them returned my call. And, as a side note, the electrical outlets and the WiFi did not work on my bus. read more

The Greyhound Station in near the Phoenix Airport (on Buckeye) is the absolute last place you should use if you need to travel. This week, we went early (just like they ask you to) to pick up the ticket we paid for ahead of time at the ticket window. However when we arrived there was a line of 8 plus people and there were ZERO employees. There was a security guard who refused to give us a number to call, and they told us "It's not my problem" as they proceeded to lock themselves in the "customer service" office. The machines to print your own ticket were both down. And we watched the bus we paid to be on leave without us, because we could not get our ticket. I've searched for a number to call, but there is none advertised. Just bus schedules. Save yourself the money and just book a ticket on Flix Bus. Which is what we ended up doing. read more

When I went to the location where I was to board the bus going back home, the bus never showed up. We called customer service and was hung up on twice, put on hold, and directed towards the website from a outsourced company in Asia that wasnt even attached to Greyhound company, just hired to handle complaints by the bus company. I've come here many times to complain as my 72 year old Mother rides from Phoenix to L.A. about every other month for the past 4 years. It's NEVER a nice experience at the Phoenix Greyhound station or aboard the bus. She's handicapped and they never allow her to book a handicap seat or move to them because they tell her "they're for the driver to keep their bag". It's a joke. Well, today, for the first time ever, the stations security guard came over to us and told her she'll be up front of the line to board first (they're assigned seats), then he went over and got her a chair to sit on in line waiting to board...and as if this wasn't enough already, he loaded her huge suitcase under the bus for her (I usually do this as she uses crutches to walk), and THEN he held people back and let me get her to her seat. AMAZING! Like you have no idea what a difference this made to her and her travels. I wished I had a $20 on me to tip this amazing guy! I will definitely be bringing him one when I pick her up in a few days! Also, the driver allowed her to scoot 1 row up to the handicap seats! They have a little more leg room and that makes a huge difference since she gets terrible leg cramps and uses a heating pad. We turned to Greyhound to get from Phoenix to Tucson. We were going to rent a car, but picking up in Phoenix and dropping off in Tucson for 5 days was over $600 at one of the cheaper rental car agencies. That seemed crazy, so we bought one-way tickets on Greyhound for 3 passengers for about $40. Was there a better deal online? Interestingly enough, the internet special costs more. Would we save money on our tickets if we purchased ahead? No, but Mr. L bought our tickets a week ahead anyway, since the 2:30pm Sunday bus was the only time that actually worked for us. He printed out our tickets, which said we were confirmed. That Sunday would be Daylight Savings, but it was Arizona, which didn't have a time change. That Sunday when we showed up at 2pm for our 2:30pm bus, we learned that they'd changed the time to 1:30pm. The Daylight Savings in other states affected the schedule. We should have confirmed our "confirmed" tickets. The station agent changed us to a 5:30pm bus, and we were bummed that we'd have a few hours to kill and miss out on time with Mr. L's parents. And they'd have to find the bus station in the dark - shoot. Lesson learned? Buying tickets ahead with Greyhound isn't the best idea. If you do, confirm them, as the schedule may change. With hours to kill in the Greyhound Station, my son started playing video games at $1 a pop, and Mr. L and I gathered our thoughts. There was some scary looking food sitting under heat lamps in the Cactus Café. We rented two lockers to stow our luggage for $3 each for 3 hours and split in a cab for a while to go anywhere but the bus station. When we returned closer to our new departure time, the lines for the buses were confusing. The line for Tucson was not the line for our bus. It seemed like everything was backwards here. Luckily we asked, or we might've missed our bus again. By the time we boarded our bus, many seats were taken. Ichabod headed to the back of the bus, and a kind gentleman cleared the 3-seat rear spot for us. There was a bathroom near the back, which Mr. L suggested I avoid entering. He said it was a basic hole (outhouse style) with an empty jar of hand-sanitizer. Good to have the bare-bones bathroom if you really need it, but ick. The driver made a bunch of announcements in English, then in Spanish. He meant business. I was glad when he told passengers to use headsets for their music, since initially a nearby passenger graced us with his music. Now we only got to see his seated dance moves, which were actually pretty good. +2 affordable prices +2 capable driver -2 changing the schedule after had a "confirmed" ticket -1 for only one agent working the line +2 having a bathroom on bus -1 condition of bathroom +1 lockers in Greyhound station -1 for the clusterf*ck of confusion of lines to get on buses - advanced degrees don't help here, be ready to ask questions Grand total: 2 stars Overall, we were glad not to spend over $600 on a rental car or inconvenience our friends or family by asking for a very long ride. We learned that we need to confirm or buy tickets last-minute like most Greyhound riders. Hanging out in a Greyhound station is not my idea of fun. If you don't have a deadline, and you are willing to travel lightly, and you don't mind being stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, and are willing to put up with a nonchalant attitude about your travel, and you are given a claim check for your bags but no one actually checks your ticket, and buses are way over-used and under-cleaned, and the terminals have limited options for eating even when there are long delays/layovers, and your bags are just out there where anyone can take them, and Customer Service is at a bare minimum or non-existent and . . . . I actually can think of nothing good about my last trip on Greyhound. And it will be my last . . . Where's the Customer Service that makes a business one that you want to return to time and time again? Cheaper than an airline ticket . . . but my advice is stay home or walk to your destination. I found myself testing the Greyhound Bus system after being unable to catch a flight. Ugh! Tucson to Phoenix to LA. Here are the highlights. Bus departed over an hour late. Bus was filthy. Entire bus smelled like a porta potty. Bathroom door broken. No privacy. Filthy. Driver jerked the bus all over the road. No, this isn't a sports car pal. Two segments required two coupons. They only gave me one. Then later asked for the other. Charged me an extra $5 because they erred and needed to print a 2nd one. I'm uploading 2 photos of my view of the graffitied seat-back forward of me. Passengers weren't too scary. Borderline/Marginally okay. AC worked. Did I say the bus stunk? Can't underscore that enough. Will I repeat my patronage? Only if exceedingly desperate. I will not recommend. I will discourage others. I would not allow a loved one on those busses. Had to take the greyhound from LA to Phoenix, and was pretty unhappy with both stations to be honest, this one in particular was just really dirty, and getting help or info about your bus was all but impossible, which is ironic because there really aren't that many people at the station looking to get help or waiting to talk to staff. It just seems like everyone is doing the bare minimum to get their jobs done and no one really cares about you or helping you. I guess on the bright side, there's a food stand/somewhere you can buy some food if you need it. read more

This is a tip for seniors and disabled: there are no baggage personnel. If you need physical aid to walk you are required to have a personal assistant to help but there are no employees to assist. At this time, the site implies that you may check your baggage with an agent but please be advised that this doesnt mean any employee will touch your bags. I'm not sure what it actually means, but again, if you are a senior or disabled, all carry on and under carriage luggage you have will need to be loaded and transferred to each bus yourself. read more

Greyhound gets worse and worse every time I use it. This time the CSR said my bus from Phoenix to Los Angeles would start boarding at 2:25pm which did not happen. The bus driver started loading around 2:50pm - 3:00pm and after about 20 more mins the driver leaves the station, makes a circle around the front of the building and heads back into the bus station where we sat for another seemingly hour or so. Never did the bus driver make any announcements and when I asked what the problem was I didn't get any clear answers. Not to mention I never seen anyone working on the bus so only God knows why we had to sit through a delay. Also, now that I think of it I don't recall the bus driver explaining our itinerary or the bus rules. Greyhound has really declined in service and all around accommodation. read more

Recently, we went to the Greyhound Bus Station to await the return of our second eldest daughter from Anaheim. Her trip began at 11:45 am, Friday February 16th, and wasn't completed until 3:31am the following morning in Phoenix. We arrived at the bus station at 8:40 pm for the scheduled arrival of 8:55. (She changed buses in Los Angeles but left hours later, after Greyhound had to send another bus and crew to pick up the passengers due to the previous crews hours ran out, including the bus driver). We were informed later in the evening from the manager of the Greyhound Bus Station--after we waited 4 hours that the delay was due to a multiple car and motorcycle accident with a cement truck driver whom lost control on the I-10 outside of Riverside, went across the barrier into oncoming traffic--causing multiple fatalities, 5 were reported at the time, with other injuries. Thus, the CHP had lane closures going in both directions for hours as they investigated and cleaned up the mess. The bus station doesn't have computer screens posted to show approximate arrival and departure times like the airport--and to their defense their computer system was down for hours, adding to their problems. It does have an area along a wall table where one can charge their electronics. However, the manager appeared angry that I was irritated by now. When he told me in a rather confrontational manner what occurred on the I-10, I told him someone should have informed us, to which he nodded his head presumably in agreement. (We were inquiring during the 4 hours we were waiting and we received different answers and arrival times). The bus station was clean, including the restrooms and cafe. What it lacks is technology and friendly employees--granted, they deal with a lot of angry and rude passengers--I witnessed this over and over again while waiting there. We left after waiting over 4 hours and returned later because my special needs adult son who was with us was ready to return home and go to bed as his feet were sore and tired from standing: the station doesn't have any seating for people waiting for family or friends coming in on the buses. The station is rather small with limited seating for ticketed passengers only in a separate area, divided by a gray brick wall. I think some retraining in customer service needs to be implemented and newer technology put in place. But it's a Greyhound Bus Station after all and my faith for this company overall isn't very hopeful for improvement in the near future. Personally, I wouldn't travel on any of their busses nor would I recommend it for my family and friends after our experience with this company. I don't know what the future holds for Greyhound as it is a cheaper mode of transportation and many people ride or depend on them for travel; so they will probably remain a viable means of going from point A to point B, but clearly there is room for improvement. read more

Horrible worst service I have ever seen in this country! supposed to be working in a first world country but they should not be even opened in this country with the level of service they provide! so Many costumers right here having to sleep on the stiff seats and on the dirty floor due to the agencies negligence!! We rushed here with my sister without even getting to eat to be on time, and when we got here we were told that the trip was delayed until 1:30 am for the same price ? When did I pay to be later than expected at the place I needed to arrive to when I initially paid for the service ? Where is my compensation? when are they making it up to all the affected clients? but it gets worse ! the schedule kept changing and changing and went then to 1:47, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55 am, all of the sudden contradicting the screen, we hear an announcement at 12:30 or 12:40 say that the bus to LA that was supposed to leave at 10:20 pm was about to leave, so we run to the door where the sign says to wait there until the driver comes and scans your tickets and where the door was locked and we couldn't exit! we waited on line, and waited when we saw a bus that said LA leave! Confused we run to the tickets lady and she said that we missed the bus !!! When nobody opens the door for us to leave ! Now we are here stuck in the terminal with a lot of people that were affected by the business and can't travel to the places they were promised to! there is no workers no supervisor nobody until 6 am! I call to try to re schedule and every time the call gets disconnected and they don't call me back ! don't know how many times I tried calling them already !!! read more

The bus was over 3 hours late... fine whatever. For the last 4 hours no ac!!!! NOW WE pulled over after Indio because 2 ppl needed medical attention due to heat! Wow!!! It's like 110 on the bus. I will more than Likely never take greyhound again. I'd rather pay the extra 100 and fly. On top of all of that, I just pulled the ac belt that was just dangling from the bottom of the bus in back. I'm a trucker and whenever I see something just dangling, I investigate because lives depend on it. This was a joke that was not funny. A basic pti or walk around and it would have been apparent. This is for people like myself who are unfamiliar with Greyhound website. Its so they dont make the mistakes I made in believing the website when I took the bus from Phoenix to Flagstaff on 8/17 and back on 8/20. We bought our tickets on-line and believed the website that said there was a bus stop at Phoenix Transit Ctr at 44th st. So I waited and waited an finally found the phone number for local station and learned that I missed my bus because it only stops at Greyhound Terminal on Buckeye Rd, just a mile away. Had to pay $20 for a new ticket. On the way back I got to Greyhound bus station an hour early because of my ride. That was a lucky break, because the bus back came an hour early. Had I come on the time my ticket said, I would have missed it. read more
