As soon as I said I needed time to think about it, his attitude completely flipped. He became visibly irritated, started pressuring me, and then had the nerve to say I had "wasted his time" because we weren't going to buy anything. Excuse me? That's exactly what a free estimate is for--so customers can consider their options without being harassed or insulted. No one should feel pressured or disrespected in their own home. His behavior was rude, aggressive, and completely unacceptable. If this is how he treats potential customers, I can only imagine how he treats people after they've signed a contract. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

Things went very smoothly. We would have given them 5 stars. However, a few major issues just came to light that completely changed our perspective. The Financial Scare: We paid Attic Masters in full, but a short time later, we were shocked to receive a California Preliminary Notice from the subcontractor they used for the asbestos removal. When we called the asbestos company in a panic, they told us they hadn't received payment yet. It took several stressful phone calls to sort out what was going on. While it ultimately turned out to be just a timing issue with Attic Masters payment schedule, receiving a legal notice against our property was incredibly unnerving. The Code Violations (Found 9 Months Later): The biggest disappointment came nearly a year later when we had an HVAC company come out for a separate quote. They pointed out multiple major issues with Attic Masters' work that were not done to code: No Permits Pulled: We didn't realize permits were required for this type of work. Attic Masters never mentioned it or advised us to pull them, so no permits were ever filed with the city. Wrong Duct Size: They installed R6 air ducts instead of the R8 air ducts legally required by CA and our city's building codes. Skipped Testing & Sealing: Because no permits were pulled, they skipped the mandatory HERS testing. They also completely failed to seal the vents. While we wish we had done more independent research on permitting, we trusted Attic Masters as the professionals to guide us and install materials that meet local laws as we were first time buyers and did not have any knowledge in this area. Finding out months later that our attic isn't up to code is incredibly frustrating. If you use them, be sure to manage the permits yourself, double-check their materials against local codes.

They took our problems seriously but didn't take advantage and press extra services on us that weren't necessary. We especially liked how knowledgeable the inspector was and how patient he was with our questions. They did a beautiful and very professional job cleaning out the space, air sealing, and doing the exclusion. After discovering that our attic was improperly ventilated and had been accumulating mold for several years, we hired them again to the do the clean out and mold remediation up there. Again, their work was on point for price, extremely professional, and beautifully done. Everyone we worked and talked with, from the inspector (Brennen), the onsite crew, the office, and even the owner, were friendly, well-informed, professional, and prompt. After the work was completed, they have been prompt about following up with inspections to help us stay in warranty on the work and ensure no future issues. We have recommended this company to neighbors with similar issues in their homes.
