I am someone who loves supporting local businesses, specially during these hard times. However, this location seems to care more about their pockets than to give good customer service. They have STOLEN money from me in 2 difference occasions. Last year, I made an order for delivery, got the same items I usually order from them which costs around $17 plus I always gave the driver a $3 tip. They took $24 off my card before the driver even arrived at my residence for something I knew for a fact was only $17. The second time, I went in person and ordered yet the same thing, and STILL tipped them $2 even though it was a pick-up order. They had the audacity to steal another $1 from my card. This place is quaint, set it an old home in a neighborhood near downtown El Paso. You would never expect this restaurant in this side of town. The service is fast and the food is very good and vegetables are fresh and crisp. The best this about this place is their prices and portion. Only reason I do not give it 5 stars is because the quietness of the place ( no music or television). We tried this place because my wife is so tired of my favorite Chinese restaurant by the house. I also knew one of the employees so for a Saturday night dinner stop it was gonna have to do. And they didn't disappoint. The hot and sour soup was awesome. With a little bit of chili oil the soup was a great start. Next we tried the fried dumplings which were also very good. Wish i could give 0 stars for their service!! We ordered some food for delivery and were told that it would take 45mins to get it. HOWEVER IT TOOK THEM 2 1/2 hours to deliver it. When we received it, it was cold and the egg rolls, crab ragoons, and shrimp were all soggy. After waiting for so long the least they could've done was delivered hot food, but that was not the case. My husband called to speak to a manager about the situation, and the "manager" said he would send us a new fresh hot order, and as i am writing this, its been almost 2 hours and the replacement order has yet to arrive. Im very disappointed because the food seems to be tasty if it was actually hot and fresh , not cold and soggy. Don't order delivery unless you want to eat hours later and reheated in the microwave. Well it's been almost 4 hours and the place closes in 15min. This place has been open about 3 months. In the same location as what was once Sam's. Gone is the bright yellow building replaced with a much more subtle cream color. I was greeted by two very pleasant young ladies and was seated immediately. First thing I notice was how much quieter this place is now. The owner or manager of Sam's used to occupy a table up close to the door and did all of his business with vendors loud and proud. I was glad to see that is no longer a practice. The big screen tv is still there, today it was showing golf. No Asian music? The menu is LONG! Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and a little Japanese. Prices are reasonable but not as low as Sam's. Sodas are served from a can with a cup of ice...no free refills. First the wonton soup. The broth is light and not very salty which makes me think it is real chicken stock. The wontons are irregular shaped and buttery, I really feel this are made on the property. The addition of the fresh snow peas carrots adds a nice touch but the mushrooms need to be fresh as well. Canned mushrooms just shouldn't be an allowed. The egg rolls are huge and tasty but nothing special. I had the chicken chop suey and fried rice. Tender well cooked pieces of chicken with sprouts, celery, watercress, in a very favorable sauce. Enough food for lunch today and lunch tomorrow. They deliver around central and Kern area. Was very surprised. This Chinese food was absolutely delicious. I heard about them after discovering a menu attached to our front gate. We ordered the Hunan Chicken (spicy with heaps of veg), the Almond Chicken ( loads of vegetables & crunch), the Whole Duck (amazing flavour), Wonton Soup & Hot & Sour Soup (super comforting on a freezing snowy night) and lastly a Pad Thai Noodle dish that was good. My husband and I decided to come have dinner based on the good reviews, now you know it's still very iffy even though you read all the good reviews but im glad we tried it. We ordered the happy family, triple delight and combination fried rice oh yea and egg rolls. Every dish was great i am very picky about fried rice and nothing will compare to the fried rice back home (Illinois) but this rice was pretty damn close. so that made me very happy will definitely be coming back! Our server (didn't catch his name) was cool the atmosphere was great. The portions are big one plate will definitely feed 2 if not more. So you will definitely be taking leftovers home. Happy to give the Phoenix Palace (former location of Sam's Chinese) on Yandell a Five-Star review. We are long-time visitors to the location when it was Sam's; very good for reasonable costs and well seasoned fresh dishes. Phoenix Palace amps up the quality and the prices but worth it. Still great value. Attentive Service. Charming location in an old house. We arrived at 6 on a Saturday night and it was not busy. The menu is expansive with Vietnam and Tai, and Vegan sections you can eat as healthy or as less-healthy as you want. Two outstanding dishes this night were Basil Shrimp and Lemongrass Shrimp, both fresh and full flavored with lots of plump shrimp. The pricing is $7 to $11 for most entree dishes. The $7.50 mixed vegetable plate rounded out dinner along with fried rice and steamed white rice, included with the entrees. The place was really a delight. Easy parking at the curb. The spring rolls were pretty good but the wonton soup was flavorless and the meat inside the wonton tasted spoiled, so I barely ate it. I have had panang curry in many Thai restaurants and this was absolutely the worst I've ever had. It did not taste like coconut milk was used at all, and I could not taste any hint of kefir lime leaves (kind of an important piece to this dish). Overall the restaurant was fine, service was mediocre (the waitress had to ask me what I ordered 4 times), and I doubt I'll ever go back. My suggestion is order to go... the food is yummy, some of the best tempura shrimp and Egg Drop Soup I've had in EP. Broccoli Beef is excellent with a good ratio of Beef to Broccoli. I've ordered from Phoenix palace 3 times for delivery and 2/3 I have liked. One of the times I ordered for delivery, the delivery guy took 2 hrs to bring me my food. Other than that, the food is great. My favorite to order is the shrimp and broccoli because u get plenty of shrimp. One of my other favorites for the moment is the VN1. Its so tasty!!! read more

The best Chinese I've had here in El Paso! We ordered sesame chicken and beef & broccoli with fried rice on the side. The sesame sauce was thick and delicious. One thing I can't stand is a watery mix so I was very happy about that. The beef and broccoli could've been cooked a bit longer, but the flavor was great. I really enjoyed the fried rice as well. The only Covid measure they have is a waitress that is paranoid of every customer and stands from afar when taking your order (no wonder she brought us one wrong entree-she didn't hear well what we requested). She wears long yellow kitchen gloves to pick up your plates after eating (hence pick up, NOT to bring them-as if we were lepers-and only because we asked her to pick up). She just seemed to be in a very bad mood and unhappy to be there. Girl, please stay home if you're that paranoid or unhappy at that job, this is not the right workplace for you. You make customers feel uncomfortable with your overall attitude and unfriendliness. On the other hand, we all got sick after eating there. I ordered the house lo mein which came with chicken, beef, and shrimp and shrimp with vegetables and it was all super good. Everything was seasoned to perfection and piping out when I got home.
