Yeaaa I kinda don't really get these high ratings. The lady ignored me for a few minutes so she could laugh so loudly and joke with someone else, even though they were right behind the counter. Maybe because I'm just a woman myself and not some guy, because I really don't see a man coming in for the first time ever being treated like that. I swear she was so loud, I had to wait for her to finish because the guy who took me literally I couldn't talk or shout over her. Then I told her my picture was for a sober religious service where my family suffered a loss, and I saw it had a nice long scratch across the depth of it which I think is pretty disrespectful. I will probably stick to areas that are okay with people of my skin color and gender. There's no shortage of photo development places. read more

I love this little shop in the heart of Brooklyn that is hands down one of the best spots to get your film developed. A really good friend of mine put me on to this store when I wanted to get photos from my disposable film camera developed. The staff here is super courteous and friendly, the service is quick and reasonable. The digital scan of the film photos with high resolution is $10. In addition to that they have a large variety of film, disposable cameras and accessories for sale. A true haven for film enthusiasts. Went here after numerous Reddit posts of great service and value for your money and while it's cheap, you also get what you pay for -- these were the worst scans I have ever received in my life. Every single frame across three rolls I dropped off had large visible dust and debris and rendered every single scan they sent me completely unusable and in need of rescanning. The development quality is fine, but that's a moot point considering not a single frame that was sent to me can be used without rescanning. Add in the dude behind the counter lecturing me on wetransfer when I dropped off my rolls yesterday as if I'm not someone who's been at this for ages and telling me you can't download wetransfer links on your phone (aka literally how I've always downloaded and handled them for years) and this was genuinely the worst photo lab experience I've ever had. Save your time and go elsewhere and spend more so that you're not stuck waiting for rescans since they can't just get things right the first time. Edit: Updating to 3 stars since the rescans were flawless and for the price they really can't be beat overall especially for high res TIFF and also prints, but be warned that quality can be spotty. The first scans I received were genuinely unusable to such a degree I had never seen before from any lab ever. It sucks that rescanning was even needed, but at least it was provided. read more

i love photo life. the quality, the speed, the price. i've been an avid customer, but there is one woman with a young son who works there who displays a very futile, inappropriate attitude towards me when ever she assists me. she is very unwelcoming and recently told me the shop threw out my negatives just for me to come back days later and someone else kindly found them with no problem. that experience turned me off from photo life, but i would still recommend the shop. read more

I've been back to Photo Life probably like 10+ times now to drop off film, and I can confidently say that this is the absolute best bang for your buck not only in the city, but pretty much wherever! They do offer a mail-in service (their instructions are very clear on their Instagram @922photolife!) and a Sunday drop off for when they're closed. Prices did go up by $1 a roll, so they're $6 for 35mm color + $9 for 35mm b&w! Still, the best deal like, ever! read more

One of my friends moved to NY and recommended me this place for developing and scanning my film. They were told for me to just DM them on Instagram (@992photolife) for instructions on how I can ship my film. They responded very quickly with thorough instructions. Their instructions are actually posted on their Story highlights as well but I noticed it way after I DMed them. I used a 6x9 bubble mailer and put my 5 rolls alongside cash for each roll and my personal contact information. I put in my note that I wanted to develop and scan my 35mm film in color. Each roll was $5 for developing and scanning. From my local post office it was about $5 to ship the package. I dropped off on a Tuesday night. By Friday morning, I received the download link to my scans in my email. They scans were absolutely beautiful and of such great quality. I was extremely happy with how they turned out. They emailed/called me asking if I wanted my negatives back and I said yes so I Zelled them $5 and they told me they'd sent my negatives out tomorrow morning. Everything happened within a course of a few days which I was super stoked about. Super fast turnaround time. I'm definitely getting my film scanned and developed here from now on! Photo life has my heart! $6 dollars to develop my 35mm film rolls and their quality is amazing (one of the best I've seen). Before knowing the existence of this place, I was getting scammed back in the UES for $20 PER roll. When I found out it was $6 here, I was sold. Turn around was about three hours for three rolls that I had left that day, which I was pleasantly surprised for since the counter said I should expect it in two days. Quick service, amazing quality. Came down to Photo Life to develop and scan a roll of 35mm B/W film. Got the scans emailed to me that night (was given a 48h turnaround) and picked the negatives up two days later, only cost $9. Will be coming back with more film in the future! read more

Scans seem great upon first look, but looking through some exposures, a pink tint appears signifying that there is a development issue with them. Many more had the appearance of this issue. I pointed this out and "that's how it is" was spoken by, not the owner, an employee $5/roll is what I get, but a fix in a development issue would actually make this a value than a buyer beware issue. I'll be returning, because $5 rolls, but every time this issue comes up I will point it out. read more

The BEST place for film dev in Brooklyn. Affordable development prices, friendly customer service, and fast turnaround--I dropped off my film after lunch and got the scans in my email before dinner! I went there for passport photos. They were open early in the morning , were respectful , efficient and knowledgeable. I had gone to RiteAid for passport photo and my application was rejected and returned to me because the photo was unacceptable. These guys know what they are doing. read more

Results vary. If you must go here for passport photos, BRING A MEASURING DEVICE! If it's not even close to 2"x2" DO NOT PAY. I took my mom here to have her passport photo taken and she had a legal photograph taken (2"x2"). I came in to have a passport photo taken a few weeks later and my photo was NOT legal and could not be used. The photo field dimensions were 1.3"x2" (including the paper it was 1.5"x2"). Finally, the photo was not even centered with 25% of one side of the photo being blank. I could do a better job using a phone camera. Horrible. read more

Not sure if everyone in these reviews are satisfied with terrible quality pictures, maybe they don't have high expectations of how good their pictures SHOULD come out but this place is terrible. They don't know how to develop film properly, do a terrible job, and blame it on you not using flash wen that's obviously not the issue since even my pictures in the sun had no flash. What a waste of money on my camera AND developed film. Very disappointed and will not be coming back. This place does cheap work.
