A bit pricey at $20 per 35mm roll of film, but the turnover is incredibly fast. I went in to drop off 2 rolls of 35mm film around 4pm on a Sunday and Sammy had my scans emailed to me by 2:30pm the next day! All the scans came out beautifully with no imperfections. I had found slides from years ago to try to get made into prints. I called many labs most of them wanted to charge $20 just for a 4 x 6 because they said they had to scan the slide first. Sammys charged me around $2.80 per print and the icing on the cake he did it in two hours. read more

Totally wasting my money. I came here for the Chinese passport photo. 1. They didn't have internet so they have to send me the picture to my flash drive. I called ahead of the time for photo info. The staff didn't give me a head up that I need to bring flash drive. I had to go home to pick my flash drive. Which is totally wasted my time 2. This place is horrible. The owner is so mean. I came here for passport pics, it takes him long time to work on it which is understandable that some people in front of me. But the pic he finally gave does not even putting the person in the center. Since I had a meeting so I had home first and tried to call him about the pics. He firstly claim that it is ok, so I check government website. But the requirements show that the person need to put in the center. So I tried to contact him again to get original copy, but he HANG UP THE PHONE!!!! This person is too RUDE. If I can rate 0 star I would definitely do that. read more

First time getting film developed and my experience at Sammy's Photo Lab was very pleasant. I got 3 rolls of films developed and put on a flash drive. I brought my own drive and it cost me $15 per roll. They were ready to be picked up the day I dropped them off but I opted to pick them up a few days later. When picking up the film, my drive (only 1gb) didn't have enough space for the footage from all 3 rolls. The owner charger $5 to have them sent to my email, so instead I just downloaded the existing 2 rolls to my computer and cleared the drive and returned it to him to download the last roll. Luckily I had my computer, but the owner seemed very patient and willing for me to comeback another time with a clean drive to get the last roll of footage. Will probably come back next time to get my films developed. read more

Sammy's is literally one of a kind. No other photo lab compares in Manhattan if you're shooting on film. The processing, first of all, is POSSIBLE. it's also very good (he will push film or develop negative and positives even transfer to digital with ease) and he is fast -/ literally an hour! great spot! my go to for film development and it should be yours too! prices are a little more than what i've paid at most places but Sammy's is the ONLY place i've been to that doesn't only give out low quality JPGs, you also get much much nicer looking TIFFs in the file transfer as well. Sammy's is also the only place that sends you your results in the span of a few hours, in most cases on the same day. consistently, every time i've turned in some rolls for development, even as late as 6pm or so, i've gotten the results back no later than 1am. afaik, there is no E6 processing so when i feel like shooting Ektachrome, i have to go elsewhere but Sammy's will always remain my go to and i love supporting small/family businesses read more

I asked for two passport photos printed ($8) and a digital copy ($10). Remember to bring your thumb drive. The process was easy and within a few minutes, everything was ready. He also keeps the digital copy for 1 month, just in case you have issues. CASH ONLY. Came in here for passport photos and was very satisfied. They get the job done at a great price. Process takes less than 10 minutes all-in and you are shown what the photo looks like, in case you want a re-take. Cost is 2 photos for $8.70 and 4 photos for $10.90. I needed headshots printed on a Sunday on very short notice and was astounded there was almost no one in the entire city of New York who could do it except one company who wanted to charge me about $200 for TWO prints (most of which was a mandatory courier charge even though I lived 5 minutes away and could have picked it up), and the other was Sammy! This guy was so nice and helpful, and had it all done for me in a matter of minutes. Not only that, even though this is really a photo lab, he printed off my resume and cut it to perfect size to match my headshots. He even quickly color-corrected my photo free of charge. What a guy! A couple of things to keep in mind. You cannot email him your photos or send them digitally otherwise. You've got to bring it in on a usb drive. Also, this guy is a one-man operation and his tiny store received a lot of business in the short time I was there. He does a great job juggling everything, but I may have been lucky with my timing of arriving at his place when there wasn't a long line. However, I notices all his customers were in and out in a jiff. I was really impressed with his customer service and just overall helpful, nice attitude, which is woefully lacking in so many NYC establishments. If you need quality photos printed and you want to support a small business, this is the place! I will definitely return for my photo printing needs. read more
