I could have asked him the same thing, ''did you check that the transfer service to the drive was completed before you told me it was and sent me home?", but i didn't. He checked that they still had the file on their system and could give it to me if i came back in. This went smoothly and i asked whether i could have a discount for the inconvenience of the second trip (20 minutes each way). He related that since I had provided them with my own flash drive, and that was likely the issue that led to the empty drive, he wouldn't offer a discount. He offered me two reasons why this was my fault, but didn't offer any apology for the inconveience or indication that he felt he had any role in what happened. Honestly, if i had heard him use the word, 'sorry' a single time this would have been a very different review. To be clear, I DID ask to not buy their drive (another expense) but rather asked if they would use a new drive i had that was still in the wrapper. They agreed to that and it may have been the reason for the empty drive. But I would recommend that they add a check to their process that the file is transferred properly before giving it to customers.

I was honestly out the building before my appointment was officially over. As far as picking out photos, figuring out which deal would give me the most bang for my buck (had to figure that out and calculate it on my own), and having them ship my photos, the experience wasn't that great. I received my digital photos the day of the shoot, but I noticed one of my them was corrupted (it was lighter and more faded than the other pictures). Customer service wasn't able [or willing] to resolve that issue after sending me a link that didn't work, so I had to edit the photo myself... The rest of the digital photos came out really well, though. The wait to get my physical photos shipped to me took longer than they said it would. It didn't help that they created the shipping label a week after my shoot, so I got my photos well after Christmas. I wasted my money on the physical photos and canceled my membership after this experience just to get SOME money back. IF I ever do this photoshoot again, I hope customer service does a better job (or that I don't need to speak to them at all because none of my photos are corrupted).

As a long time Sacramento area resident, I have been going to Photosource for over 15 years- from way back in my college days at UC Davis when I was shooting film, to the present day to rent DSLR equipment. Renting equipment from them is much easier than from a national company who doesn't know me. I can literally call Photosource days or sometimes even hours before I need equipment and then go pick it up. I don't need to order it a week ahead of time and then hassle with UPS to pick it up. I trust Mike and all the staff there to give me the best advice and service. They are highly knowledgeable about all aspects of photography (both film and digital) and will go the extra mile to help make sure my questions are answered. They also have top notch printing equipment and do custom framing, and carry some cool medium format and vintage cameras as well. I usually go in and talk to them if I need to buy new DSLR equipment to get their take on it - they help steer me in the right direction. The owner and staff are all accomplished photographers and/or videographers, so their advice is really valuable and trustworthy. I've been a photographer since my high school days (many, many years ago), and just this semester started teaching photography as an adjunct instructor at CRC and I instruct my students to head to Photosource to pick up their supplies. They always have photo paper in stock in various sizes and finishes, plus it is easy access from I-80 and they are open late and on Saturdays. They will go the extra mile for you. read more

Here's a summary of my printing experiences at Photosource: Excellent. I have used them about 20 times (perhaps a few less, I can't recall exactly...almost 20 I would say though) and I have had incredible results having 35mm slides (Kodachrome) and negatives converted to large, poster-size images to hang on my wall. Friends come over and are very impressed with the results. I have had them do gloss, matte and even the luster and metallic finishes. I like how they recommend a certain finish to emphasize the picture imagery. The staff knows quality. They seem to really listen to understand what you are looking for in the final result and act accordingly. No longer do I have to suffer with the photo guy who pretends to listen and then proceed to give me the one-colortone-fits enlargement. The small staff at Photosource are a cut above those other color jockeys out there. I highly recommend them. I even tried their darkroom lab for self processing of 35mm B&W film and what a blast that was. You basically end up with a full warehouse-size darkroom all to yourself (lots of elbow room when others are working too). It's great. A hidden gem in East Sacramento. I have gone to Photosource my last time. I cannot take the rude girl who answers the phone anymore. I have called to rent equipment only to be put on hold forever, and then forgotten about. I think her name is Rhonda or something like that. When I've gone into the store she acts like just asking a question is really putting her out and honestly I have never encountered anyone in retail so rude before. Does the owner not want people to come into the store anymore? I cannot believe they make any money with someone like this working at the front counter. To make things worse she dresses inappropriately with tattoos all over and body parts hanging out. This is a professional business right? Maybe that works great for the middle aged pervs that go here, but not so much for anyone else. To boot, I overheard her telling someone that if they bought her lunch, that she could get their order done faster. Disguisting! Two thumbs down for me. I will never go there again. read more

What can I say? Every single time I do business with Photo Source, it's a pleasant experience. The prices for rentals are unbeatable, their terms are reasonable and flexible, and the people who work there are friendly. The owner is very helpful and he definitely runs a solid business. If you have a choice between doing business here and doing business at Pardee's, choose Photo Source. Unlike Pardee's, you won't be belittled because the workers think you don't know your stuff. This place has been super helpful all 4 times I've been here but I wanted to write a special shoutout to Von (Hope I'm spelling it right) for ABOVE AND BEYOND customer service this past Friday! I was running late and pulled up at 4:55 pm to pick up my rental even though they closed at 5 pm. Not only did Von let me pick up the rental, he told me no worries about being there so close to closing time and gave me additional excellent customer service. After a long week of dealing with people's horrible road rage, terrible customer service, and overall bad interactions, Von's customer service was super refreshing! read more

I was welcomed by the friendly service reps. The ladies made me feel supported in my new adventures and not like the idiot I felt like. I went in there to see if they could restore an old photo of my grandparents, as a gift for their anniversary. The person I talked to one the phone was very knowledgeable and helpful and even offer to make a slideshow for me. I came here because I have a photo of my father that had water damage on the bottom of it. All I wanted was the water damage fixed- no photoshopping my dad's face- he doesn't need a nose job- nothing complicated. Nobody seemed to be 'getting it.' Then I came to Image Pros. I was quoted $35 on the phone and told it'd take 3-5 days for them to complete. Guess how pleasantly surprised I was when they called me the very next day saying my photo was ready and it was several dollars cheaper than originally quoted?? Guess how even more thrilled I was when the photo I was given was beautifully restored and not overly edited to hell. The ladies I encountered at Image Pros were each friendly & professional and it really meant a lot to me that they did such a wonderful job with such a sentimental photo. I'd recommend Image Pros in a heartbeat!

I went into the store last week and there were 2 women behind the counter and on man who appeared to be their customer that they were talking to. I assumed this was a large client they were helping as they both were focused on him, so I didn't mind waiting for a couple of minutes. But I stood there with no one acknowledging me for several minutes, while they shot the breeze with this client. Finally, one asked if they could help me. I explained that I wanted 2 copies of the VCR tape on DVD and one copy each of the DVDs. She writes down (after much fumbling) a 2 and then 24.95 and says that is $24.95, then she writes down 1 each DVD for $5, but says nothing. So I assume about $35 total. She asks me to write my name and phone number on a piece of paper and then looks at me and says "OK". I guess this meant she was done with me and wanted me to leave. She didn't offer what the total would be and I had to ask when they might be done. I asked if I needed a receipt or something when I came back to pick them up and she said simply, "No." Very odd. Big pet peeve of mine when people assume that since they do what they do all day, the rest of us are supposed to know how their business works. I get a phone call that they are ready about a week later, Wednesday, and went in to pick them up today, Friday. I walked into the store and one of the women who was working before came out from the back, but said nothing to me. I said I was there to pick up my tape and DVDs and she just looked at me, like she wanted me to say something else. She seemed frustrated that I didn't give her what she seemed to want, but how would I know what she wanted. Finally, she says, curtly, "What's your name?" Oh I get it. Again, I'm supposed to know as a first time customer how your business works, instead of just asking me in the first place. She gets my order, takes some time to ring it up, and then says $75.49. I was dumbfounded. I can see the original writing and try to show her that it says $24.95 and 1 each for $5. She proceeds to argue with me that it is $24.95 each for the VCR copies and I see that they had made 2 copies each of the other DVDs (this was probably somehow my fault as well). I showed her the original writing and she just kept arguing and saying ridiculous things like I was trying to rip them off and very sarcastically "How much do you want to pay then?" I got really upset at that point and finally got her to check me out at the price I thought I would be paying. As I was walking out the door, she said to me "Don't come back!" Great way to treat a customer. Please stay away from this very unprofessional business. If they want to have a hobby and pretend they are in business, fine, but don't waste any actual money with this joke of an operation.
