Great food, but if you like short wait times or friendly wait staff, look elsewhere. I'm a huge fan of Thai food, but I don't visit this establishment often as the service is hit or miss, and it's often the latter. Tonight, our food took nearly an hour to arrive. And with no apologies, it was dropped down on our table and the gentleman (I use the term loosely) then ambled off. I have avoided Thai food because I'm allergic to peanuts and so much of the Thai food has peanuts in it. Or so I thought. I talked to the owner's son, David, before my group ate here and he assured me I should have no problem. He was right! My group of 11 people chose a variety of food on the menu and we all raved about our meals. I had the Phad Sah Ew Pork and it was very tasty and satisfying. The service was friendly and efficient as well. We'll be eating here again, for sure. Phoumy, the cook and mother of David gave us black rice pudding as a bonus! Based strictly on food and comparatively with other Thai restaurants in Eastern Washington, I found this to be a great hidden gem in Walla Walla. I was fortunate enough to get a wide sampling of dishes as my friend was helping the restaurant and doing professional photos of their food for them. My general comparison items are pad thai and spring rolls as all thai restaurants carry this. The pad thai had a robust flavor, was not overly moist and did not have a burnt or "grill" taste to it, I was very pleased. The spring rolls were good but the dipping sauce, which is home made was fantastic.. Beyond that, the other sides and main courses I tried were all fantastic. Their new revised menu provides a more focused approach and gets down to the items people know and want the most. read more

You know, I gotta write that Walla Walla is really lacking in the diverse, delicious restaurant department. I have eaten in many different cities, have experienced many various takes on dishes, but this little town is really failing. Unfortunately, Phoumy's is no exception. First off, Phoumy's is NOT Pho; it is a Thai restaurant. Now, if you do not have an experienced Thai palate, then yes, most likely you will think, "Mmm, nummy." Service was terrible. I don't mind when it takes awhile to get food as I understand most places are understaffed during COVID. However, the waitress did not check with us once to refill drinks or let us know there would be a wait. She didn't know anything about the menu. I come here all the time, love their curry! All their food is amazing and perfect every single time. However the service I get is not. I will be standing in the waiting area, waiting to be seated or waiting for a To go order and they will look at me multiple times and just walk by. So we decided to try out Phoumy's today, and I was a little apprehensive after being spoiled with the Portland Thai food restaurants. All in all, the impression was really good. Good service, good atmosphere, good food, even a well decorated bathroom, which I really appreciate. Nothing is worse than a restaurant that has a Plain-Jane restroom. It's always great to have great tile and flowers to stare at when you do your business, right? So the other half ordered something that I don't remember what it was called but I do believe it was the #42 menu option and he said it was tasty, so end of story on that one. Myself, I ordered us the Tom Kha soup which was effing delicious. My only regrets were that they didn't put more tomatoes and prawns in it. For $12.95 it was a little lacking in the shrimp department. 6 prawns were found in the soup... Also, the serving apparatus is ridiculous. Yeah, it's cool that there's a burner in the middle to keep your soup hot, but the ladle given to you for serving is too big to fit in it, so you end up using your spoon. Next, I ordered the Pad Thai with beef and Tofu. Nice and cliche, right? I had to try it out, since I'd had such great stuff on the west side of the state. Well, the only thing that disappointed was the portion size and the fact that there wasn't any cilantro in it. Pad Thai without cilantro? Really? So we visited, we ate, we enjoyed. The only thing left bent out of shape is our pocket books. Increase the portion size for what you're charging and all will be well! read more

She came to all the tables around us but ignored us. we never got sauces that all the other tables had. we never received part of our order. when we did get our food after a very long wait. the noodles were crunchy and the eggs were gritty. what little sauce was on the noodles was way over salted. The service here is pathetic. We came into an empty restaurant and ordered takeout. We were told it would be about 20min. People arriving after us took a table and were served before us, and we had then waited 30 min. Then another couple came in. When I questioned this, I was told that seated customers get served first. Therefore, if more people walk in, we would theoretically never have gotten served. When we eventually received our order, we drove home and discovered that the order was wrong. We called back and complained, and they asked us what they could do to make it right. We said," after making us wait over 30min and giving us the wrong order, you could deliver the correct order to us." They refused. The nice thing about our town is that you always have other options. I absolutely LOVE Thai food. This place "two days in a row- with HUGE back to back orders for take out" gave me the goods! All of the food was hot, crispy and delicious!!! I know providing bigger orders is tough, but I was putting in 60 bucks and higher for take out food and they didn't skip a beat! It was fun to see how many wonderful customers they had filled in the restaurant when I stopped in. This place is easily my "go to place" for Thai food in town. By the way, the owner is amazing. We ordered food from this restaurant by phone and drove over to pick it up. They said it would be 30 to 40 minutes. I stood there and waited for an hour and a half because they forgot about me. The food was mediocre at best. When I got my bank card statement I noticed that they were more generous with their tip than I had written the tip for. I called the manager to dispute this and was told he would have to call me back. I waited almost 2 weeks and he never called back so I called him back. David or Dave is the manager at this place and he is the most rude person I've ever spoken to in my life. He is the owners son. You would think he would try to have some better customer service skills, he doesn't possess any. Not only did he not want to hear what I had to say but he was not willing to do anything about the money they stole out of my account. He suggested I call my customer service number on my bank card and dispute it. I won't go into everything he said to me but he was extremely out of line and immensely rude. After he told me to dispute with my bank card he hung up on me. Don't waste your money going to this place. Supporting them would be supporting this behavior and theft. read more

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines so we visited Phoumy Thai for my birthday. The wait was longer than I expected but the atmosphere was relaxing and not too loud. We ordered the crab wontons and they were hot, crispy and were paired with a nice dipping sauce. I ordered phad Thai with chicken which is one of my favorites. I prefer it to be spicier than what I got but I was able to add gochugaru. My husband ordered a steak and he enjoyed it and my daughter got the orange chicken. We went into the restaurant today on the chance they could sneak us in after graduation. The original waiter to greet us was great and tried to accommodate the 6 of us. The waiter behind the counter was rude and laughed at us for trying. We ended up leaving and going to the Walla Walla Bread Company and were treated with respect. I've heard great things about Phoumy's so I decided to order it on Door Dash for lunch today. Upon my food arriving, the door dash man told me that Phoumy's let him know that there is chicken and avocado in my veggie roll like I had ordered. While eating my roll, each bite I was anticipating to get a bite of chicken and avocado but unfortunately the chicken and avocado were not present in my roll. I'm extremely disappointed with the fact Phoumy's assured my door dash delivery man of the added items that I paid for, knowing they were not in there. Would not recommend. read more

We never even got to eat the food here. After waiting for them to open up from an unscheduled afternoon off, we were the only customers in the restaurant. After awkwardly waiting for someone to seat us as we came in (no one was around), my brother had to go into the kitchen to find an employee to give us a table and menus (edit: actually, scratch that, my wife just reminded me that she had to grab our menus for us). After being seated, we waited about 20 minutes for someone to reappear only to fill our cups with water (while sighing audibly) and then disappear again into the back where we could hear somebody cooking up a storm (even though there were no customers except us and we hadn't even been asked if we wanted to order anything yet). The young hired waitress are inexperienced and the gentlemen running the front end doesn't give her direction or pick up the slack. We started with an avocado roll with peanut dipping sauce, followed by Thai barbecued chicken, cucumber salad and sticky rice, sweet and sour stir fried chicken and vegetables. All very good! The wait service was spot-on, also. Two servers tag-teamed our table, kept our water glasses full, patiently explained how to pronounce our food, and gave helpful hints regarding the art of eating sticky rice. I've never actually eaten at Phoumy's restaurant, but we've had carry out from them many times and it's consistently good, fresh, Thai food. There are several Thai places in town, but Phoumy's is our first choice. Bangkok 103 is undisputedly the best tasting, but we don't like the antiseptic smell of the restaurant, and when you call to ask for carry out the owner is very grumpy and rude and so we stopped ordering from them. Thai City's food isn't as good as Phoumy's, and a few times they gave us the wrong orders on carry out. The people at Phoumy's are always polite and prompt with our orders, and the food is good. read more
