Extremely disappointing service. I understand that mistakes happen, but the level of customer service we received was unacceptable. Our server wearing red and earrings appeared either poorly trained or completely uninterested in providing a positive dining experience. My order was not prepared as requested, and when I politely brought the issue to her attention, I was told, "Well, the order has already been submitted, can't change it." Then went back to the computer and got on her phone. There was no attempt to offer a solution, no apology, and the response came with an attitude that only made the situation worse. What was especially noticeable was the contrast between her and another employee she was actively checking on tables, ensuring guests were satisfied, and demonstrating the kind of professionalism customers expect. Unfortunately, that level of service was not reflected in our experience. The food and establishment itself were not the issue. Very good burgers fries were amazing. The problem was entirely the service we received. I would consider returning, but only with the hope of being served by someone who understands customer service, communication, and basic hospitality standards. read more

I stopped by Phred's recently after hearing the owner (a veteran, by the way ) mention how slow it's been -- even on National Burger Day. Honestly, that broke my heart. So I made it a point to visit... and I'm so glad I did. Here's my honest review: The food? I had the Japanese Ahi Tuna Burger -- sushi-grade tuna, perfectly seared. So fresh, so flavorful. The Pacific Islander Burger had fried shrimp in the middle (yes, inside the burger) -- and it totally worked. We upgraded to sweet potato fries and onion rings -- crispy, hot, and the portions were generous. We also shared fried mushrooms -- golden brown perfection. The menu is super creative -- think bulgogi burgers, kimchi nachos, surf & turf burgers, and more. They even have vegan and gluten-free options. ‍ Service? Excellent. Our server checked on us often, refilled our water, and was genuinely friendly -- despite the place being nearly empty. Prices? Fair, especially for the quality and creativity. Bonus: they offer a 10% veterans discount. Atmosphere? Casual, comfy, and perfect for lunch or dinner with friends. Parking was easy, too. Only downside? They were out of a few items because, sadly, business has been slow. And that's why I'm writing this. If we want places like this to survive in El Paso, we have to show up. Hopefully it can get better. The service was really good. They were super nice and helpful. The place was a little run down looking, but that does not bother me. I am here to get good food. Well, that is where my review turns south. I got a Santa Fe burger. I ordered it medium. It was well done, dry, and super salty with whatever they seasoned it with. The sauce was good. This was my first time at Border Burger Bar and it won't be my last. It's a small casual and chill place with a variety or burgers, sandwiches, and hotdogs. On this visit my dad ordered the Border Burger with Onion rings. My mom ordered the Hot Asian with sweet potato fries. I ordered the Hot Asian with Truffle fries. We ordered fried pickles as our appetizer. Everything was hot and fresh. The service was excellent our waitress was beyond efficient with refills and with explaining the menu. The owner is working with a local bakery for the fresh bread. I highly recommend this place. Everything is delicious. Keep it local and eat local El Paso! Today 4/20/24 my parents and I went back to the border burger bar, the name has changed to Phred's burger bar. The service was exceptional. The food was delicious. We each tried something completely different. My mom had the k-dog with regular house fries because they were out of sweet potato fries. My dad had the terlingua burrher with onion rings. The onion rings were huge and the burger had good flavor. I had the Pueblo burger with the truffle fries. The bread was fresh and soft. The burgers were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It's about time that I move this Border Burger review up from a 4 to a 5. For the past few years now, Border Burger has been one of our go-to restaurants. We felt like the size of our burgers and the quality at times were inconsistent for a bit which is why I had a 4 on here, but the last few times have been very consistent with large portion sizes and amazing burgers. My favorite order would have to be the border burger (with sweet potato fries)! I also recommend sharing the kimchi fries with friends beforehand - so so good. If you haven't tried Border Burger, DO IT! You will be coming back for more too. read more

We ordered the DC burger which came with pulled pork,cheese, bacon, BBQ, ham, onion straws and pickles lettuce. It was delicious and hot and juicy. We also ordered the border burger and that came with 2 types ofcheese, avocado, pico de gallo, fried jalapeño slices, lettuce. We also got the stuffed jalapenos, those were good. We were disappointed to get there at 5:30 and happy hour was over at 3. Wth?!im still at work at 3. Lol. The place is just your average burger joint n burger joint fare. Just made my last trip here. It's just too far to drive for a burger. Burger is still incredibly delicious but the draw for me was the thick sliced hand breaded onion rings. Gave them another chance over a year later and this time was really good!! I got the ahi tuna burger with regular fries and a brown ale, my husband got the Korean burger with sweet potato fries and a lovestreet beer. Service was quick and attentive, music a little loud, food was on par. We both enjoyed the elevated burgers with unique flavors, and the fries were very crisp, abs the sweet potato fries especially were cooked perfectly. If I had to sum this place up in one word, it would be "meh". Everything was just okay (minus the service - it was terrible). We were one of only 2 tables in the restaurant and our waitress forgot that we hadn't ordered yet. We had to flag her down from talking to a coworker who was sprawled out and practically sleeping at the bar. Our food came fairly quickly. The truffle fries were okay. They had a strange taste that I can't quite put my finger on though. The burgers were also okay. The Italian was better than the Green Chili, but nothing to tell a friend about. Our waitress never came over and asked if we needed another drink and never refilled my water. When we were finished eating, we waited about 15 mins and finally got up and walked over to the register. We were the only table in the restaurant at that point. Our waitress separated out the bill for us, but never told us our totals before asking for our cards. I wouldn't go back or recommend this place to anyone. There are way better burger places to go in El Paso. Hoepfully this was just an off day, or management tightens things up a bit. read more

I ordered the Pacific Islander Surf and turf burger which comes with pineapple, fried shrimp, American cheese, lettuce tomato and a poke sauce with the patty made the way you like (I got medium well). The burger also comes with a side of fries of your choice for $10.99. The piece wasn't bad for the quality of the burger. It was DEEEEEE-LICIOUS! The fries don't even need ketchup because of the seasoning...I also just ate it with the leftover sauce that dripped from the burger, so good! There's enough pineapple and the shrimp is a good size!
