We walked in with a group of 8 and a baby - we were easily accommodated- fast service for a large group. My husband had a #15 soup and it was fabulous- the waitress didn't think it was spicy but my husband thought it was and he puts tapatio on everything . Maybe the regular chef was out the evening we ate here, but the food was pretty bad. We ordered eggplant and tofu, which may have been steamed, and the sauce was tasteless. The veggie dish we had which was supposed to be served with peanut sauce, tasted like ketchup was mixed with some peanuts. It took about 40 minutes to get our food on top of it all. This place was an unexpected gem. The parking lot was almost empty around dinner time so I had a sort of bad feeling but was I wrong. I explained to the owner that I didn't eat rice or any grains and he talked to me in great detail and helped me pick the right dish which was a fabulous - shrimp red curry sauce with coconut milk and lots of veggies. It was obviously very proud of his kitchen. He told me that they make their own red curry sauce right here in the kitchen. It seems like almost everyone who came in after I got there either knew him or had been there many times before which I think says a lot for a restaurant. NASTY! my girlfriend and I ate here while on a little Shasta getaway, by far the worse Thai food we've ever had and we both have eaten at probably 50 Thai restaurants between us. The microwave Pad Thai from a supermarket would be better, and the prawn salad was just gross, I'm scared to know where they get their prawns from. The food there made both of us sick, the place smells bad inside, the decor is 1970's. The staff was very friendly and it's only because of them that this place even gets a 1 star. Very traditional Thai flavors. Not the best I have ever had but certainly up there, and I mean come on, you are in friggin Mount Shasta. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area for the price. I would choose this place over Andaman Thai Cuisine hands down any day of the week. The chef also sources most of his veggies from Farmer's Market. I recommend going with the Yum Nua beef salad, the Kratiem stir fry and Pad lee may. I can agree with folks that sometimes the wait can be a bit long. In a small mountain town, it is hard to predict when to have extra staff on hand, but sometimes you need more than TWO people on staff. I also agree that the inside is not as nice as the outside and not always warm enough. I am versed in international cuisine which is to say I am more concerned with flavor over function. My favorite restaurant in town. The vibe is right and the food is great with plenty of choices for vegans. The family that runs the place is authentic and very sweet. I've always felt welcomed and respected which is unfortunately not true for some of the other places in town. They even remember my favorite dishes and custom orders. Every dish is made to order by the chef so it can take a bit of time if super busy but just show up earlier or perhaps call ahead. The place isn't exuding tremendous Thai atmosphere as far as decor goes but I go there for the food and really appreciate the people that make that place an option. read more

Passing through Shasta on our return from Oregon and stopped here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was empty, only 2 other couples in the restaurant. My husband wanted to leave but I insisted we stay and I'm glad we did. We had the most amazing bowl of Tom Ka Gai soup (coconut chicken soup). The Panang Curry was excellent and so was the Thai Basil Chicken that we ordered. The owner waited on us and also ran back and forth to the kitchen getting the food. He did not have any other waitstaff that night. By the time we left, the place was hopping and the owner was single handedly waiting on eight or nine tables. I really want to give this place more stars but I can't. The service is poor but it's only because there are two workers running around :( The Pad Thai was pretty good though. We asked for the spice rack but the worker gave us one that had 2/4 empty ones. When I asked if he could refill them, he took the spice rack away and never gave it to us back lol. The shrimp fried rice was ok but bland. We didn't use the sriracha sauce because it looked oddly dark. Overall, it was just ok food and slow service.
