One of my favorite options is the lunch special with a slice of pepperoni pizza, a little Greek salad, and Esperanza dressing. That dressing is unreal. Even if I am not getting a salad, I still want Esperanza dressing to dip my crust in. It is absolutely worth trying if you have not had it. I also really appreciate their sourdough crust. I have a mild sensitivity to some breads and pizza doughs, but Mellow Mushroom's crust is much easier on my stomach. I can enjoy their pizza without feeling terrible afterward, which makes a big difference. Their lunch special pizza is good, but their made-to-order pizzas are where they really shine. I would not necessarily call Mellow Mushroom my dream New Haven or New York style pizza, and I will absolutely travel for that kind of pizza when I am really craving it. There were two young ladies working the front counter. Both were wearing gloves, but instead of handling food with professionalism and care, they were laughing, playing around, and repeatedly checking their phones with the same gloves they were using to prepare and handle customers' food. That is not only unprofessional -- it is unsanitary. Gloves are meant to protect the food from contamination, not to become a tool for spreading it. What made it worse was that they clearly saw me standing there and continued the behavior as if it was normal practice. It did not appear to be a one-time mistake. It looked routine, which raises serious concerns about management oversight and food safety standards at this location. The following day, I called the store to speak with the General Manager to address the issue properly. The manager who answered the phone had an extremely nasty attitude and hung up on me mid-conversation. That level of disrespect toward a paying customer is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the entire establishment. Food service requires accountability, professionalism, and basic hygiene standards. If those expectations cannot be met, customers will understandably lose trust. I hope ownership takes this review seriously and implements better supervision and training before someone gets sick or the business reputation suffers further.

The pizzas never showed up. We had angry special needs kids and adults who were hungry and disappointed because they were looking forward to the party. It was horrible! I will never, ever use this Papa John's for delivery of a large order because they will give it to DoorDash and the DoorDash driver will lie and say that he/she could not find the location. Who does not own a GPS or have a mobile phone with GPS capabilities? All the manager said was "I'm sorry". An apology means nothing when you have disappointed people who were looking forward to it.
