Tried this place for father's day brunch and fell in love. Being allergic to eggs can really ruin breakfast but this place has an menu with loads of selections that all don't revolve around eggs! I also appreciate when chicken & waffles is served with chicken wings and not tenders or strips! The way it should be! We had two classic chicken and waffles - one with tenders and one with wings - 4 of either and the peach cobbler chicken and waffle. We also had scrambled eggs, scrambled egg whites, and grits. The bone in chicken was delightfully crunchy but not overly so. It was just a little bit greasy but not overly so. Still I was glad it was served on a separate plate. The waffle was just big enough. I've had gigantic waffles that tasted awful and this wasn't that. No pulp in the OJ!!! The grits were reportedly just ok but I didn't try them. The tenders were equally crunchy and arrived hot. I personally think it's hard to find a good restaurant in the Conyers/Covington area. However we were looking for a brunch spot and decided to try this place out. The parking lot was small and it was pretty busy. As we were walking in a worker was wiping down a bench and greeted us warmly. We only had to wait about 10 mins for a table and once seated our waiter (Michael) I believe, got us taken care of with our orders and drinks. Our food came out so fast I was barely able to blink. lol. Waffles were absolutely delicious! Chicken was crispy and had great flavor. Really looking forward to trying some of their other menu options. The place is small but they are quick with getting people in and out. They fish was fried crispy and the remoulade sauce was good with a hit of spice to give it a good kick. I also enjoyed the seasoned waffle fries that came with it as the side. I was in town visiting friends in Conyers and as we were looking for something to eat we saw Uncle Butch's chicken and waffles. I had been to Nanas when it was located here so I was interested to see how this new spot compares. I started with the alligator bites appetizer and they were just as good as any I've had in New Orleans. For entree I had the fried turkey chop breakfast with grits and eggs. The turkey chops were seasoned well and fried perfect. The grits had an old bay like seasoning which I wasn't really a fan of as I prefer grits with just salt, pepper, butter and cheese. Service was excellent as both our waiter and the hostess were constantly checking on us. They remodeled the inside from when it was Nanas and it came out very well, the aesthetic was simple but sleek. Definitely wouldn't be mad if I ended up here again at some point. read more

The grits were like a stoneground consistency but very flavorful. The fish tastes light and fresh, fried to perfection. The fried chicken was light and crispy. When Nana's left, it made a big hole in my heart. I'm really glad to say Uncle Butch's easily softens that blow and makes me feel like we haven't lost out on anything. They've got a great menu full of the classics, and for me, classic means Cajun Shrimp and Grits. It's just as good as I was hoping and we even went for the Swamp Thing that had grilled lobster. It was a nice splurge and made for a really nice morning with the wife. Our server was attentive and the staff is very friendly. I know it gets very crowded on the weekends, but the staff really does a good job handling the rush. The decor is pretty cool, everything is black and gold from the silverware to the tables. They were under staffed with about three employees there, but the employees were working really really hard to accommodate the customers. The menu has a vast variety of breakfast menu items, and observing what other customers ordered, made the decision making of what one item I wanted very difficult. I chose the build an omelette item. The potatoes were really good. They were mixed with sweet potatoes. Well seasoned. The honey butter biscuit was delicious. I wanted syrup to eat the biscuit with but by the time I asked the server for syrup I had already ate half of the biscuits. My omelette was fulfilling. They did not cheat me my protein selection, It was full to the core with meat. The decor of the restaurant was so nice and appealing. It was a gold and blacktheme. The food was delicious.
