Lemon chicken and waffles
Amber P.

I personally think it's hard to find a good restaurant in the Conyers/Covington area. However we were looking for a brunch spot and decided to try this place out. The parking lot was small and it was pretty busy. As we were walking in a worker was wiping down a bench and greeted us warmly. We only had to wait about 10 mins for a table and once seated our waiter (Michael) I believe, got us taken care of with our orders and drinks. Our food came out so fast I was barely able to blink. lol. Waffles were absolutely delicious! Chicken was crispy and had great flavor. Really looking forward to trying some of their other menu options. The place is small but they are quick with getting people in and out. There was hand sanitizer available for all the seating and everyone was very nice and friendly. They even remembered to bring my ranch out without me having to ask multiple times. They did an awesome job with this place and I hope the service and quality continues to stay exceptional!

Highly recommend the po boy sandwiches here! I got the catfish po boy and my friend got the shrimp po boy and they were delicious! They fish was fried crispy and the remoulade sauce was good with a hit of spice to give it a good kick. I also enjoyed the seasoned waffle fries that came with it as the side. We came for lunch at noon on a Tuesday and it was really busy our food was served to us quickly, hot and fresh. The establishment is small but felt cozy with its decor would recommend coming during the week to avoid a crowd given the size of the place.

Our waitress was super kind and helpful with it being our first time. She answered all our questions without hesitation. The lighting was bright and welcoming. Loved the food! Omg. Nothing disappointed. Will definitely return to explore more on the menu. Unrated brunch in Conyers!

Vegetable scramble with shrimp

This was an absolute joy! We never been here before, but wanted to try it out. Lissssseeennnnnn...... Please come here! We had blueberry waffle and wings, as well as the low carb scramble with shrimp and the grits on the side. EVERYTHING was very tasty. Shrimp juicy and super fresh. Scramble with the boom boom sauce? TOP TIER. Chicken fried to seasoned perfection and blueberry waffle simply amazing.

Yes I visited this location set right down at the table I ordered the omelette and everything was great but the Grits were a little runny or should I say watery..

I experience was ok. It took a good 15 mins to be recognized at the front desk and be offered a table. I will preface this that it is July 4th. But... service staff was just slow despite not being that crowded. And even slower to come back and take me order.

Such a great look

I've been wanting to try this place forever. I'm so glad we did. It was busy but we were seated quickly by Michael who was wonderfully friendly. Kiana, our server, was fast and friendly. The DJ was spinning great music that really set the tone for brunch. The food was AWESOME (I sang that in my head). I have dairy allergies and was able to find food to eat. We will definitely be going back!

I was in town visiting friends in Conyers and as we were looking for something to eat we saw Uncle Butch's chicken and waffles. I had been to Nanas when it was located here so I was interested to see how this new spot compares. I started with the alligator bites appetizer and they were just as good as any I've had in New Orleans. For entree I had the fried turkey chop breakfast with grits and eggs. The turkey chops were seasoned well and fried perfect. The grits had an old bay like seasoning which I wasn't really a fan of as I prefer grits with just salt, pepper, butter and cheese. Service was excellent as both our waiter and the hostess were constantly checking on us. They remodeled the inside from when it was Nanas and it came out very well, the aesthetic was simple but sleek. Definitely wouldn't be mad if I ended up here again at some point.

My first visit to the restaurant was great! The food was really good and seasoned very well. The deep fried WAFFLE !!!! ...was amazing and decadent, reminds me of a funnel cake. I look forward to my next visit.

Mmmm. This is a little hidden gem in Conyers GA. It's not a lot of parking or space, so go on a weekday to avoid a crowd. I had the Cajun Catfish over grits w/shrimp. Delicious!!! The grits were like a stoneground consistency but very flavorful. The fish tastes light and fresh, fried to perfection. The fried chicken was light and crispy. We also ordered a strawberry waffle which was covered with a smooth strawberry sauce and whipped cream. I can't wait to go back.

I patronized this establishment on a busy day, but I am glad that I did go! For it to be busy, the food was very appealing, still neat and did not look thrown together. They were under staffed with about three employees there, but the employees were working really really hard to accommodate the customers. The menu has a vast variety of breakfast menu items, and observing what other customers ordered, made the decision making of what one item I wanted very difficult. I chose the build an omelette item. The potatoes were really good. They were mixed with sweet potatoes. Well seasoned. The honey butter biscuit was delicious. I wanted syrup to eat the biscuit with but by the time I asked the server for syrup I had already ate half of the biscuits. My omelette was fulfilling. They did not cheat me my protein selection, It was full to the core with meat. The decor of the restaurant was so nice and appealing. It was a gold and blacktheme. The food was delicious. The environment is nice and I most definitely will revisit this location again. The one thing that could be added to this brunch spot is mimosas.

Decent selection of food, but most of it at room temperature or close. I didn't dare eat the chicken when it was clear that it had been sitting there for a while at room temperature, will be shocked if I'm not sick tomorrow. Same with the cobbler. I tried the rolls and garlic bread - both so hard as to be completely unpalatable. Salad bar was probably the best part, but everything there was very low quality as well. Beyond that, the food is all very underseasoned and bland. And how do you make cheesecake bland? I mean, how is that possible? All the server had to do was give my a seat, some water and clean utensils, and I did get a seat - but the knife had a big blob of something green stuck to it. They brought me a new glass of water when the first when dry, but it had a funny/bitter flavor that wasn't there in the first one. Considering the fact that the knife wasn't clean, I would assume the same went for the glasses. Worst of all, I left a tip at the table (not required for a buffet, and certainly not earned as noted above); but when I declined to tip at checkout, they had the nerve to ask if I had tipped at the table - as if tipping was somehow required. And then argued with me when I made it clear that asking was inappropriate. Incredibly rude and a terrible way to treat customers. I should have made more of a scene, but I calmly made my point clear, no need for more drama. Will not be going back, and will suggest nobody else does either - if you want a reasonable buffet experience anyway. Edited to add: After writing this review, I decided to research to see if I was the only one that had a bad experience, and found a LOT. On Yelp, they have more one star reviews that two, three or four stars - making me think that many of the 5 star reviews are not legit. Just go to Yelp, and sort by newest first, to see that 3 of the last 5 reviews were one star - 4 of 6 if you include mine. Also, according to the AJC, this restaurant has had multiple failed health inspections in just the last five years: November 2025: Scored 59/U (Unsatisfactory). Violations included food not held at proper temperatures and cross-contamination issues. December 2021: Scored 52/U (Unsatisfactory). The restaurant failed its routine inspection after staff were observed failing to wash hands, alongside improper food storage and temperature violations. May 2021: Scored 37/U (Unsatisfactory) 37? 37?? That's not just a fail, that's a not even trying.

I liked the name and the cuisine. Pretty good reviews, but if you've been on Yelp as long as I have, you know that standards vary greatly. And Virgils was no exception! Food was excellent! Deviled Eggs, Corn Bread, Sunday Plate, Grouper, and Seafood Platter. Undeniably Good. Service. Undeniably Bad! Muy malo! If you have to sit at the bar even when you have reservations. No bueno! If you have to flag someone down to get them to take your order. I am looking for an alternative option. If you charge a 20% service fee for services not rendered. Shame on you. "People will never forget how you made them feel". Well in a nutshell, not very valued. Having been in the restaurant industry of over 17 years, I have the perspective being on both sides, I would say service is the part severely lacking at Virgils.

Our server delivered great customer service throughout our dining experience but I didn't like that they automatically charge you 18% gratuity without properly communicating it. I also ordered a peach tea, smoked wings, onion rings, & the brisket platter. Listen, I don't know what they did to these cheese muffins, but they were heavenly. They pretty much melt in your mouth. The first one I ate without butter and it was good; for the second one, I slathered some butter on there and that made it even better. I probably ate half the basket by myself. For the smoked wings, instead of getting them drenched in sauce, I ordered all the sauces on the side. The wings had a slight crisp on the outside, which I love. It gives me the illusion that I'm eating a fried wing, but this way is much healthier. Lol. All of the sauces were solid. The honey habanero sauce was good, but really wasn't hot. The white sauce in Carolina mustard sauces were probably my favorite. I never pass up a chance to order hand breaded onion wings. It's rare to see those on the menu. These were done just right. The breading was crispy, light, & seasoned. They came with ketchup, but I dipped them in my barbecue sauces instead. These were much better than frozen onion rings with breading that's too thick. Unfortunately, I enjoyed my appetizers more than my brisket platter. I was underwhelmed by the brisket; it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. The greens were OK and I didn't eat the macaroni and cheese. The consistency was not what I was expecting. Our server was great. He gave good recommendations, was friendly, and even accommodated my friend's request to watch a specific game on the television near us.
