We recently inherited an old family piano that was sitting in a storage unit for 10+ years and probably wasn't tuned for 10 years before that. I've had the great fortune of knowing Joe Brattesani for many many years. I came to work for him years ago when he owned piano stores and I was a young fledgling piano teacher I have now been in the business over 50 years Joe has retired and become a Piano Tuner and he now is the tuner of all my clients! Joe recently came to tune our baby grand piano which had not been much used or tuned in many years. The job required a great deal of patience, knowledge and expertise given the long time it had gone without tuning, Not only did the piano need tuning and a pitch raise but Joe also discovered that some of the keys were stuck together because of a long ago stuck and partially dissolved piece of candy from when our children were young. A build up of dust on the strings and the soundboard was yet another challenge to the job. Joe was incredibly patient, explaining step by step what he needed to do to correct the problems. He adeptly took apart and reassembled sections of the piano to reach the stuck keys and removed the sticky residue. He explained and demonstrated the correct way to clean the piano and recommended products to keep the piano in better condition. He was incredibly kind and so informative about everything he did. His knowledge of our piano was impressive and he treated the piano with the utmost of care. He tuned the piano and did a much needed pitch raise, making the piano sound so beautiful. Service, expertise, care and kindness at the highest standard is so rare but Joe is extraordinary. Joe's work is masterful and very reasonably priced. We will absolutely be calling him for regular tuning of the piano in the future. We feel so fortunate to find Joe and have him take care of our piano! 5 stars is not enough! read more
