Terrible service. Gabor came to tune the piano. He broke one of the action hummers, and left. Yes... as simple as it sounds. He offered to fix it with a used part. I refused (as this is a new piano). He didn't say anything about coming back with a new part to fix it. I never experienced such a behavior. Now I need to look for a part and pay someone else to fix it. Gabor came and tuned our new Hailun piano as part of Colton Piano Gallery's warranty. He was meticulous. The whole tuning took about 2.5 hours, and he was pretty flexible with the timing so I could make it to my rehearsal on time. Gabor literally just left my place after tuning my piano and he was AMAZING. Could not be happier. My piano was broken in a ton of ways - hadn't been tuned in half a decade, been moved multiple times, pedals broken, stuck keys. In 3.5 hours he had tuned every key and fixed every issue, including the loose legs on my piano bench (not kidding - I am amazed). Additionally he was super friendly. Loved talking to me about Hungary, travel, pianos, his family. He was even super sweet when my dog wouldn't leave him alone while he was underneath the piano. I contacted Vivace about replacing a broken spring to the B flat key in my upright. Editke responded "I've talked to the technician about it and he said he needed to inspect the piano before he can tell anything. He has a service fee of $95." I then responded that I would gladly pay the $95 fee, if the technician came with a supply of appropriate springs so I could also pay him for the repair. I received no response. I contacted another vendor who did replaced the spring for under $95, including travel time. read more

We bought our brand new grand piano last Christmas time and Gabor was sent by the dealer to do the first setup and tuning. He showed up on time and did a really great job on it. He was professional, courteous, and EXTREMELY patient - we told him that some the the keys are not smooth (typical for a brand new piano), so he took the entire action out, and took out each of the keys on the entire board, and lubricated them one by one meticulously - that alone took him about 2 to 3 hours! After that he spent another maybe 2 or 3 hours to tune it, and after that, my piano sounds really lovely. Three month after that he came back for a second tuning. Again he did a great job. My son told him that there is a popping noise from one of the keys. He again took the action out, lubricated the key joint, and found out the plastic cover of the key was loose. He quickly fixed the loosen part with glue and the popping noise is gone - all these was done at no extra charge. Overall, Gabor is a very nice guy, he knows what he is doing and he treats your piano like his own. His fees are also very reasonable. I highly recommend him. read more

We have a 60+ year old spinet that has a lot of sentimental value but has not had much use in recent years. It was tuned once or twice in the past 12 years and played infrequently. Mr. Simon tuned my German upright piano today and spent several hours working on it, due to the fact that the tuning was *so* bad (it had been 15-20 years probably since the last time it was tuned and had been moved several times during that time). You can tell that he has a love for pianos and takes great care in what he does. He did such a professional job tuning the piano and even fixed a squeaky pedal at no extra charge, and he was very good about explaining what he was doing and why. I just got my piano serviced from Gabor of Vivace Piano Service. He made a house call to my home and stayed for two hours and fifteen minutes. He was nice and professional. He cleaned my piano, educated me about piano maintenance, went over many of the intricate parts of the piano with me [more than once], fixed a broken note and shined my keys. I had mentioned my piano manufacturer and circa manufacture date to him, so he researched it before coming to my house. He made some great recommendations for me too. Guess how much it cost? No, really, guess. Wrong. Less. After being at my home for two hours, he charged me a mere $70.00. I haven't paid a good price for service since ... I can't remember the last time that I actually felt that I got my money's worth for a service. Thus, today was a good day. If you need to get your piano serviced, and you might be surprised to find out that they should be serviced every six months, I would highly recommend Gabor to you. Cons: In the phone call, they provided a quote of $250 for 3 hours; however, Gabor asked $700 when he arrived, which highly exceeds my budget. After negotiation, I paid $500 (cash only) for 3-hour tuning. Suggestion: If you are considering Vivace Piano Service, maybe it is a good idea to discuss the price carefully in the phone call. Because once they come to your place checking the piano, you have to pay at least $75 service fees even if you decide not to let them tune your piano. read more

We recently had our Kids Piano serviced by Gabor. He was great. He arrived on time and we had gotten a convenient time for us. Other services, usually being long ways out tend to make you wait a time convenient to them. His pricing is at market and no oversell. He spent around 2.5 hrs fixing our pianos paddles, cleaning, tuning an upright that was 60% off tune due to some moves, with great diligence and sincerity. He fixed a broken part on his own initiative free of charge. We found him to be a professional and very polite. We will have him back in 6 months. read more

He did a really good job tuning and making a few repairs on our piano. The piano was quite out of tune, and is now very well tuned. He also paid attention to any out-of-place sounds. He said several things that suggested to me that he knows a lot about pianos, their construction, and how to care for them. The experience was less than perfect due to the variation in expense and communication difficulties. The former is probably not actually Gabor's fault but still soured the experience some. According to him this piano has not been regularly tuned and as a result the wires are more brittle and are more likely to go out-of-tune. In fact, one of the wires broke while he was tuning it, and that's when he let me know it would cost over $50 per broken wire. "Pitch raising" is also extra, and though it was somewhat explained over the initial phone call and described as necessary for almost all pianos that had been moved, I had to resort to the internet to get a better understanding. And that was the initial phone call, which didn't lead to an actual tuning because I had so much trouble communicating with the person (not Gabor) at Vivace that I decided to try calling back later. In the end, Gabor spent just over 3 hours working on it, and the piano sounds great. Next time I need a piano tuned I plan to call on him again. read more

I had my piano tuned by Gabor, owner of Vivace Piano Service. He has the qualities that I look for in all service people, but hard to find these days in the United States, old world ethics. He is a man of his word...he said he would arrive at 9 AM; he actually arrived at 8:30 and sat in his car awaiting 9 AM. I told him to come in and begin early. He was polite, dressed very nicely, and immediately went about his business. As the piano hadn't been tuned in many years, he said that he would first check to see if the pitch was off, which it was. That was going to be extra, but I knew that going in. For the next 2 1/2 hours he worked tirelessly without a break, not even for water that I offered. He made damn sure that the piano was exactly as it should be, taking extra time on each key and readjusting til it was perfect.
