Soft lighting, Italian music, intimate seating set the mood for our dining experience. The menu was a food journey from several regions of Italy. Homemade warm soft focaccia bread, served fresh out of the oven started our food journey. The White Anchovies, reminded us of our trip to Sicily, mild flavored served on crostini sprinkled with delightful crunchy fried capers (I added a drizzle of olive oil to add extra depth of flavor. Lamb Meatballs-very delicate & tender, lacked fresh herbs or cheese, but served in a vibrant marinara sauce. Beet Salad-bright field served on generous portion of earthy sweet roasted beets, tangy goat cheese & sweet carmalized onions. Cacio e Pepe- Dish delivered a rich layered taste experience. Homemade Bucatini, cracked black pepper, creaminess of sharp Pecorino cheese sauce clinged to every bite of pasta. The Bolognese lacked the signature ingredients that define the dish, far from being Bolognese! Kudos for making homemade Pappardelle pasta, but pasta had no bite, over cooked to the mushy point. Bravo to server Michael, friendly, knowledge of menu, very attentive taking care that each course arrived with a fresh setting. We will go back to Piatto for dinner. First the good: Nice atmosphere and vibe. The complimentary bread was fantastic. Caesar salad was fresh and delicious. Now the negative: Entrees weren't good. Chicken Parmesan was burnt and terrible. Seafood picatta was overrun by capers and sauce was salty and flavorless. Service was not accommodating or friendly. It seemed as though there were a lot of regulars who were treated well but we didn't care for the service. As the evening progressed, the restaurant was way too loud. We were yelling across the table to hear each other. Quite pricey. Overall, I wouldn't recommend. There are much better Italian restaurants in OKC, particularly for the price point. read more

The moment you walk in you are greeted by the host. It's a cozy, warm ambiance that welcomes you. We were in town for the night and I had been wanting to try this Italian restaurant since I started following them on Instagram. Our waiter Francisco took great care of us and made a delicious limoncello mojito. I had the braised beef short rib with mashed potatoes and some delicious buttery carrots. My husband had the shrimp scampi and added some grilled chicken. He said it was delicious. I ended my dinner with a glass of the moscato that was on the wine menu. What a lovely restaurant. I dined at the bar this evening and enjoyed a view of bright metallics and beautiful art work displayed throughout. I love the layout: several private sections of seating, romantic place settings and a bar at the center of the restaurant. I decided to try a featured appetizer, a white anchovy atop thickly sliced tomato & crostini, feathered with fried capers & red onion. I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious balanced of flavors, not too fishy nor salty. My only complaint would be the over saturation of oil in the fried crostini - baked would fair better for this dish. I recommend trying a glass of their Rosé, which pairs beautifully to the delicate fish. For entree, I stuck with seafood and ordered the octopus & bone marrow Casarecce. The pasta is handmade and perfectly cooked. For this dish, the octopus is sliced and incorporated into a lively red sauce, topped with a layer of breadcrumbs & finely chopped parsley. Overall the flavors were delightful, however, I found the dish salty & the breadcrumbs to be disagreeable; shaved parmesan would be an elevated substitution. I carried out a slice of the limoncello cheesecake and plated at home. 20/10 on the quality, flavor and texture. The bright complexity of the raspberry sauce is the perfect match to the creamy lemon cheesecake and layer of curd. My favorite dish of the night and something I will definitely be back for (You know it's good when they serve the dessert with house-made whipped cream). I can't forget to praise the exceptional professionalism of the staff. Excellent recommendations and politely attentive, the service is friendly and welcoming. I was pleasantly impressed they offer coat check. The parking lot makes an easy entrance and exit to this beautiful eatery. Check out my photos, they will leave your mouth watering. I was not impressed with what they call modern Italian. I think they should go to Italy and try what moderate Italian really taste like, especially strange with their play on chicken Parmesan, which is actually a pounded chicken breast that comes up looking like a pizza with entirely too much bread and too much cheese. We really wanted to love Piatto. We have driven past a dozen times and finally decided to try it first ourselves. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the owner/manager and shown to a booth. The ambiance is very subtle. Nondescript jazz plays in the background and the walls are a literal art gallery. For me the ratings rely heavily upon the food. The calamari appetizer from their evening special was 5 out of 5: lightly breaded and seasoned, tender, and perfectly fried. The pepperoncini was the perfect complement. I haven't had better calamari on either coast. Piatto makes their own pasta, which is unusual for OKC. I ordered the seafood piccata from their seasonal menu which featured shrimp, mussels, and clams. The flavor profile was outstanding, if a little heavy on the capers. I was surprised when I bit into a shrimp tail - I don't understand chefs who leave the tails on shrimp that are incorporated into a pasta or other dish. Also, a spoon would've been nice to twirl the perfectly cooked bucatini as well as to fully open the mussels. I give the dish a 5 on flavor and a 3 for the tails. The lasagna was excellent. A little wetter than we are used to, but we really enjoyed the flavors. 4 out of 5 Side note for my friends in wheelchairs: DO NOT attempt to come here on your own. Their entrance is not ADA compliant and you'll have difficulty getting through the doors on your own. read more

When you're recognized upon arrival it means they have a great memory or it's a wonderful restaurant that we enjoy frequently. Perhaps it's a little bit of both. Piatto is a fantastic restaurant that you could easily miss when driving down NW 63rd. However, you're missing one of the best Italian restaurants in OKC if you've never been. Service was top notch as always and we were seated in a quiet booth away from the noise of the main area. We have hearing impaired guests and appreciate a quiet spot over an energetic and noisy spot. The bar area is much more vibrant if that's your thing. We didn't try any new dishes but enjoyed our favorite dishes. The Ravioli appetizer is beyond comparison. You will not find a better ravioli in OKC and probably the entire state. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of it. One couple shared the Poached Pear Salad and Roasted Chicken. I started with the Lemon Chicken Soup which is loaded with chicken and has a delightful flavor of lemon. My husband had the Scampi but my picture was too blurry to post. It's something he selects on almost every visit which is high praise. Shrimp are so easy to overcook but the Chef knows what he's doing and they are expertly prepared. I chose the Roasted Beef Tips from the seasonal menu. This is a dish I make at home and I'm fully aware of the time and effort required. The sauce is smooth, luxurious and delicious. First of all...I can't believe we haven't found this place before...it has been open 6 years! Upon arrival, the front desk person gave us a great greeting and took us to our table. They have quite a few small table for four little nooks that make the dining experience very personal. Marsala, out server was excellent with the wine and food suggestions. We started with bruschetta...might have been the among the best we've had. Our entrees were lasagna and veal piccata and they were nice portions with outstanding preparation and taste. We went here for valentine day special. There was a 4 course meal for 89. You get there they seat you and everything gets going . I got sat by the kitchen worst spot everyone kept bumping into my chair . It was also our 1st visit and we had been excited to try this place out especially for their pasta Upon arriving we were seated right away but waited about 10 mins for our menus and to be welcomed. Server wasn't interested in small talks or introductions; prob due to it being busy? We were offered; small plate, soup or salad, main course and dessert. I had ordered the gnocchi which were dry and had no flavor. My husband got the rice balls and they were amazing! We both got the Chicken Lemon Soup; wasn't bad but not my fav. Our main course we were too full to eat so we took home and enjoyed later! (chicken parm for him and bolognas for me). Desert was amazing; Brandy Ice for him and Panna Cotta for me! However, we had oil on the table and bread was never bought out. I had ordered a drink; never got it and was billed for it. No salt or pepper on the table; asked 3 times for some and never got. This is one of those places we've driven by the past few years always say we should give it a try but always forget! One Saturday evening we actually tried it out! We came around 5:45 so there was about 15 min left of happy hour yes ... happy hour on a Saturday so we each got a drink i got a gin and tonic my husband got a beer. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer for half off, making it only around eight dollars. The bruschetta was decent. Nothing spectacular but okay. They give you complimentary focaccia bread and it is delicious! We liked this better than the appetizer. I ordered the shrimp linguine and the pasta noodles were delicious but the shrimp tasted like it was straight out of the freezer. I definitely wouldn't have ordered it again if i knew this. There was a couple sitting at the bar next to use they each tried their entrees sent it back and requested a refund. We've never seen this happen before but the manager handled it with grace and kindness. Service here was attentive and everyone was friendly. The manager even walked around checking on tables which i appreciated. The overall food quality here was nothing to rave about I've had much better Italian locally and probably wouldn't want to come back here unless it was close and in a time crunch or something. read more

Just celebrated our 50th Anniversary with a wonderful meal and the spectacular staff at Piatto. I had asked to have our preacher renew our vows during dinner and was told sure. My wife was totally surprised about the vow renewal and Enis even took a video for us with my phone. It was such a wonderful moment for us both. To top it off champagne to toast each other. Decided to try something new in okc. The restaurant seemed very empty. I ordered the Seafood risotto. The scallops and shrimp was fantastic, however the risotto was over cooked and very mushy. My friend ordered the Veal Involtini-- the veal was ground into a tube. It seemed to be premade and frozen before cooking. Did not have a fresh taste. The Parmesan risotto is also very mushy and over cooked. Lastly, the chicken Parmesan came with a poor tasting marinara sauce. read more

My whole experience eating at Piatto was outstanding! I arrived without a reservation and was greeted by the owner with a smile, despite being significantly under dressed for the wine tasting event that was scheduled for the night. I asked to be seated off to the side in a private booth and he was happy to deliver on my request. The calamari, pear salad and filet that i ordered were all top tier, with the cut of beef being absolutely amazing. I had read in other reviews that portion size at this establishment were small, however i found them to be quite large and both the appetizer and salad were sized big enough for 2 to share. The meal was so good, I decided to return the next day (more appropriately dressed this time) and enjoyed the 1/2 size Caprese Salad, Veal and Lemon cheese cake for desert. Again, each part of the meal was absolutely top notch just like yesterday's dinner. I travel the country for work, and try to find nice places to eat in each city i visit. This trip to Piatto was honestly just a convenience pick because it's close to the Marriott, but I am sure glad I found and will return again the next time I'm in OKC. read more

Once we arrived, despite being seen - as in direct eye contact - and ignored by at least four folks, we waited to be seated for an excessive amount of time. It wasn't off to a good start. Once we were seated in this smaller area of the restaurant, it felt like everyone was being holed up in this corner since the rest of the restaurant was dead. There was this overwhelming feeling that the folks here this evening were regulars. The manager or owner made rounds, welcoming everyone around us except us. It took quite a while to be acknowledged by the servers, but they came by to greet us separately once we were. I ordered the Carbonara, and I just wanted it to be over. Whatever the mystery protein was, which should have been guanciale, the cook on it was so overdone I could not identify it. The long and short of it, we were disappointed from start to finish - this one just fell flat. The ambiance and atmosphere is usually beautiful. Even when we were created by the hostess she was a young girl in ripped jeans and tennis shoes that was kind of weird and off putting for what is supposed to be a higher end restaurant. The lighting was so low it was hard to read the menus and had to pull out a flashlight to be able to see the color of the steak. I usually love going here but tonight was disappointed enough I am unsure if I will be back. The service was not good. I asked for a soup and it came out right before the food. I did not have enough time to eat it, I had maybe 3 bites and our food was brought. I asked for it initially when they asked about appetizers but he didn't bring it and I had to ask again. Someone in our party ordered steak well done and it came out rare. We tried to get the manager's attention because no one came back to check on anything but he would not respond due to discussing sports with the other manager. My husband finally had to get up to get assistance because no one came to check on how the food was. They then remade the steak while we all sat and waited and never said anything about such a mistake. My pork sugo was dry when it is usually moist and epically amazing. The managers never came to talk to us or check in and we were there celebrating my birthday and they never even mentioned it or said anything. I usually don't go out for Italian because I tend to see the same menu from many Italian restaurants here in the metro. But this place had variety. The service was attentive, and the manager and our server kept checking on us. I had the veal involtini, and it was wonderful, and it's something you rarely see at other Italian restaurants. The staff (especially James and Becky) made us feel like the most important customers in the world, curtailing the service to our specific taste based on what we liked. We got the Caesar salad and Cacio e Pepe, and wow both were incredible. Excellent bar service as well; we both loved our cocktails. Very knowledgeable on wine as well. They treated us like family! Definitely our new favorite Italian place and restaurant in general! Also, I made a special request on our open table reservation and they went out of their way to accommodate us (we asked for a drawing on our table and received pretty much professional artwork!).
