According to my boyfriend who goes to many of these, this place is about your average type of yard. Know before you go! Check their website to see which locations have the parts you are looking for. Bring the appropriate tools and wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty... Because YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE PART YOURSELF. Oh and thankfully I wasn't wearing my flip flops for once. Wear some closed-toed shoes. Entrance was $3/person during the time of our visit. They stamp you, but the guy looked at me and said it's okay because he didn't want to get my pretty hands dirty. Haha! Thanks! Coming here was so eye opening... rows and rows of cars. There were probably thousands of cars. My boyfriend looked online and see the location of the car he was looking for. You go towards the row it's at?? Man stuff! Anyways, you take the parts you remove and then take it to the cashier to pay. I saw a bunch of people installing their new parts in the parking lot. Overall. Pick Your Parts is a decent place to find second hard parts, but the high valued and desirable parts tend to go quick. There were many mechanics and hobbyist car dudes here who probably go first thing in the morning to get the first pick. Delusional cashier( young female) and bright manager (older male) over charged me for a headlight harness. Cashier gave me an attitude when I simply just asked her why was it so much for a simple harness as she entered it as a sensor( $15) , she said she asked me if it was a sensor without even asking me, probably skitzo) or something, I just asked her simple questions and she was very rude and pretty much told me if I wanted or not, or get the eff out of here, and they decided to jack up the price on me calling it a ballast, I just paid $25 for it anyways, because I needed the part. Sold my truck at a fair asking price thanks to Pick Your Parts. Download the app and set up alerts because the older your vehicle the harder it is to get satisfactory cosmetic parts. The side windshield hand grip plastics break off eventually for typical use if you leave it MacGyver in place so it looks good cosmetically then you have to worry about your passengers eating shit stepping in... I just use the steering wheel because that's 100% solid. I found a replacement and had to use washers to secure more surface pressure. The dash liner was a rare find and in near pristine condition. Removal was easy. That's what so great about pick your parts; once in a while you find you vehicles equal counterparts and it's great when you see that the owner really took care of their vehicle. Ps wear shoes you'd be willing to toss out, avoid day after it rained but if you must go wear slip resistant soles. read more

Wear old shoes and change them before you get in your car, there is so much oil/grease on the ground it's really slippery. Most of the cars are pretty picked over. You need to watch the inventory online and go when you see a car you're looking for. I got a few parts from a door and they were very overpriced. I was actually surprised how much they were. I feel like they size you up and charge you on what they feel they can get out of you. They charged me for an internal part of a door panel under the category of moulding by the foot. When I questioned the cashier they were kind of rude about it and said that's what it is. I paid for the parts cause I needed it but it's almost what it would cost new. They buy these cars for pennies in the dollar and charge so much for parts. At least maybe give $5 credit when you buy a part to offset the cost of the entrance fees. Hard to rate but 2 or 3 sounds fair. So real quick, the staff at the entrance, exit, and (some cashiers) are nice people. However when they got new management and put this "optional" but Automatically Charged 90 day warranty crap into place, is where things got frustrated. So if you arent aware and dont tell them upfront NO WARRANTY, you're automatically charged more money and they don't inform you. You're just expected to read the signs and the entire paragraph. Another disappointing interaction I purchased a center console/armrest and some mudguards. They put bright blue paint all over my mudguards and I asked them to not paint the armrest. A lady said "paint the bracket" and the guy proceeded to paint the VISIBLE plastic part. WTF?! I paid for it already and you ruined it!!!! Y'all are a bunch of freaking clowns. First off, this place is a junkyard. JUNKYARD people! It's not going to be clean! Stop complaining. Second, the prices here are horrible. I went in to pull out 2 window motors, regulators and a tail light. I managed to find the light and the window parts but they were dirty, rusty and I was unsure if they would even work. I go up to pay for the two parts and they wanted $109 for the JUNKYARD PARTS! If you go to RockAuto.com and search the same parts, they cost about $70 dollars in total. It's no wonder people steal the parts, this place is robbing you the second you come in. Waste of time coming out here they wanted $90 for some radiator fans, literally $20 less than brand new oem and more expensive than aftermarket. $9 each for coil plug insulators are you kidding me? Dealership sells them $2 each brand new. They don't care what the pricing list says on their own website and claim it's different by location regardless that the app allows you to specify location. Cashier doesn't even know what they're looking at and when you tell them what it is they just choose whatever they think is closest regardless if it's 10x the value. Always had good experiences at the Chula Vista and Santa Fe Springs locations, was disappointed to say the least. Call around other salvage yards, chances are the parts are cheaper and they do the work for you, absolute insanity. read more

They raised their prices. They can't keep their inventory straight. Now they expect you to walk around with a piece of paper and pencil and write down what car you pulled your parts from. Their latest tactic is they now lump in the warranty wether you want it or not. You have to *know* ahead of time to tell them you don't want the warranty. This is a pretty cool place there is a ton of assorted cars, vans, trucks and other automobile with parts ripe for the stripping! Your best bet before coming here is to take some pictures on your phone of what your looking for and research how many models have the same part, that way you can seek out those cars with the parts to start prying them out! A good amount of the cars here had a ton of useful parts still left in them wile others have been almost torn apart with nothing but junky leftovers. I've been here a few times over the years looking for parts to fix things myself and the majority of the time I've been successful in finding what I needed so that's been a plus. There was a dude here selling food and drinks so if your stuck in the lot for a wile and get hungry he's got you covered! When you enter there is an admission price of $2 and you must sign your name in case you hurt yourself or something, keep in mind this is a junk yard and there is parts all over the ground as well as a ton of oil making it very slippery pretty much everywhere, today being a rainy day was no exception I could have easily slid across the lot! Needed to get rid of my late father's barely running 1984 Chevy Cavalier wagon with features such as, faded paint, peeling paint, peeling trim, rusted roof, holes in roof along the luggage rack filled in with white caulking, ceiling held in place by clothes pins, A/C vents held in place with guitar picks, cigarette ash sprinkled about, speedometer that's off by 20mph, brakes that take all the human strength I could muster to get the car to stop, strange noises, and wonderful exhaust smell. In the inventory pictures the car is perfectly fine for example and the same same day its available you go and its completely destroyed dented scratched..like it they purposely damage it.
