In the end of the day, everyone is connected and to one another and I'll say this, Euro Tennis is way better with better customer service than here. I grew up learning to play tennis by my dad. All was self taught through him. We weren't a rich family, but we were raised with values that took us far in life. I don't know what values these tennis coaches have here, but I'll say this.. poor customer service doesn't get very far. My ultimate goal was just to get my 4 yo and soon to be 5 yo to just make friends and get to know the sport that I love very much. I suggest all parents to go to Euro Tennis. Better customer service and lots of options. At Euro Tennis, they accept kids of all kinds. They have patience. And their focus is just making sure the kids have fun. At 5-7 yo, the ultimate goal is to have fun and like the sport.

I actually think I know why the sport is blowing up as it is in the 2020s. It's kinda a condensed version of tennis but with much different rules and scoring. But since the court isn't as big, it is much easier to learn it even get good at it. So it is much friendlier to the common person, you don't have to be super athletic or talented. Just a desire to learn and get involved in some light cardio. Seniors, women, men, teens all can play together and excel equally. I found this spot actually by chance. I bought a used pickleball paddle from a dude on Facebook Marketplace. We agreed to meet here for the transaction. In order for me to try the paddle we hit the ball to each other for a few minutes, so I could get a feel for the item on sale. I liked it and bought it. But while here at Southgate Park, I absorbed the surroundings. They have 6 pickleball courts enclosed in one area (my main draw). A basketball court, lots of grassy areas with picnic benches and a playground. There are a few nearby schools in this residential area in Hayward, so in my visits midafternoons, there are always a lot of activity going on. Kids playing, people walking their dogs, people relaxing on the benches, just an overall chill community vibe. To this I gotta give Southgate Park and Hayward props.

I've been here in the morning and in the evening. Both times were packed and each time has different crowd! It is usually less packed in the morning with the more elderly crowd and in the evening it's more packed with the younger crowd. However people here are nice though, they're willing to teach new players and I've never seen anything go down bad while I was there. Also forgot to mention, when it does get dark, I don't think the lights hit the court so it can get pretty dark. The parking is only on the street, so it's first come first serve. When it rains the night before you can still play here usually, someone brings a broom or something to clean the court out. It's getting a 3 out 5 stars because it is a small court and parking is kinda bad.

A lot of the ladies were chatting, and it reminded me of a middle school locker room. The MixxedFit class itself, though, was amazing. The energy in the room was great and everyone seemed genuinely excited to be there. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. I'll definitely come back for another MixxedFit class with Javier.

With the number of people who use this facility every day, this is a serious health and safety concern, especially during the summer. In addition to the lack of air conditioning, the water fountains are frequently out of service, the bathrooms are unsanitary, and the overall cleanliness of the facility has noticeably declined. It feels like this location is simply a cash cow for Bay Club's corporate office. They continue to raise membership prices every year while neglecting maintenance, cleanliness, and customer service. This location sees far more traffic than many of their other clubs, yet it receives far less attention. If you're considering joining as a new member, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Until Bay Club invests in properly maintaining this facility and providing the level of service members are paying for, it's simply not worth the cost. Many of the members at this location are from diverse ethnic backgrounds, and it's deeply frustrating to see this club receive far less attention than locations like Pleasanton or Walnut Creek. Intentional as it seems the disparity in maintenance and investment is hard to ignore, and members at this location deserve the same safe, clean, and well-maintained facility as every other Bay Club member. I will also be contacting the Alameda County Department of Environmental Health to report these ongoing health and sanitation concerns.

He mentioned they'll be open the following day, but ended up taking my order anyway after asking what I was looking for (on his day off!). I went home and stressed out for 2 days because I was certain I ordered the wrong racket (I tried to do the transaction quickly and didn't even look at the racket since Rick wasn't even supposed to be working so I wanted to get out quickly). No matter how I crunched the numbers, I was certain it could not be the correct racket since my total after strings and tax was $20 below MSRP of the racket alone. I show up to pick up my racket and it was the right one! I was so confused I had to ask Rick about it and he said he never uplifted his prices after Babolat and other retailers increased their prices after tariffs. I came to support a local shop since it's rare for high end and in demand rackets to be sold at a discount. I never would've thought a small shop could've beat these prices. He didn't even tell me he was giving a discount or anything... people unfamiliar with rackets probably don't even understand the crazy deal they're getting. It's so nice to know that even though Rick can charge MSRP (and it would be a wise business decision to do so), he doesn't. I'm still reeling and cannot thank Rick enough.
