Visiting from out of town from Las Vegas, and I couldn't wait to check out these indoor courts!…read moreThere are 8 courts inside. We registered beforehand online for the Beginners open play from 2 to 4 on Monday. We were disappointed to find out that nobody else had registered to play on Monday. We were happy to have Tracy (an employee) come join us for a few games. We had an absolute beginner with us and two of us that have been playing for a good amount of time. So we really needed a 4th player! So thanks for joining us Tracy! This place is way more than just a pickleball business. There are two bars inside and many self-pour electronic beer dispensers. They serve food, although I didn't get to see the menu because they were hidden behind the bar and none were on display anywhere else. They have arcade games lined up along the middle of the venue. I saw a bunch of kids upstairs on the 2nd level playing video games on a TV monitor. Speaking of TVs, there are many upstairs to watch sports/shows. The upstairs is filled with tables and chairs to eat & hang-out. I hear they have some fun game nights for families on Friday nights. I heard this place has been open for two years. The staff was very friendly. They have 2 dartboards inside located in the back corner, and a smaller wall with more automated beer pour stations. I wish we could've checked out the Margarita Monday play! They have open play from 6 to 10 AM during the week, we're gonna go back and check that out. it was about a 40 minute drive from Charleston to this location for us. We will definitely be back to play while I'm in town! Try this place out for air conditioned play during the hot & humid summer!

Nice facility, but abuse of the DUPR rating has resulted in very unfair use of court play. They…read moreuse an "official" DUPR approved "Coach" to set your level of ability. This rating is arbitrarily set by watching you play for just a few minutes! It is "so subjective to what the coach thinks" of that few minutes is so wrong. His decision will affect your access to other players, and court during during open play. He assigned me a 3.28 rating Intermediate and gave a friend of mine a *3.85 (advanced). *After being assigned an 3.85 DUPR, he cautioned her that joining in a tournament would most likely result in a lower DUPR. Not sure how her DUPR rating is much higher than mine considering we play together often and we play consistently the same? Could be she is young and cute? I certainly hope not! My lower assigned DUPR rate limits me to only play on the 4 assigned Intermediate courts during open play, while her Advanced gives her access to 6 courts and a better level of players. Her is my hard spot, there isn't any way to advance your DUPR rating unless you sign up for time consuming and expensive tournament play! After a year of playing 3 to 5 days a week, Im still playing at the same DUPR level? At the Intermediate level many of the players are new and can't serve or return the serve consistently. Another thing that bothers me is to have some of the Advance player that are not that talented act like they are all that... like high school all over again! LOL. So unless you have an established high DUPR rating avoid paying the Big $$$ and enjoy the "FREE" play at the many other indoor areas in Mt Pleasant like the Town Hall Gym, Park West, or Miriam Brown. Never feel bullied again!

Chubbies is a men's clothing brand with a focus on casual clothing including active wear and…read moreswimwear. It has a prime store location on King Street in Charleston. Decidedly to visit the shop as this brand has a small presence in the West with only an outlet store in Las Vegas. The Charleston store has a boutique feel and is filled with a nice selection of shorts, short sleeve shirts and polos. Many of the clothes have tropical print designs. While the clothes are nice, there were not a lot on sale. There was a small rack of items that were on sale, but it was not very clear as it took up space with items that were regular priced. As a result, I brought up an item to check out initially that was regular price and was lightly scolded by the staff. I did end up buying a pair of shorts here that I liked, but the store experience left a bit of a bad taste. I would consider buying from the brand again, but I will stick to buying online next time. Mostly because there are no locations near where I live on the West Coast.

This place is a whole vibe -- like if freedom, cold beer, and dad jokes had a baby and dressed it in elastic waistbands. The staff? Friendlier than a golden retriever at a tailgate. They sized me up quick, tossed me a pair of shorts that fit better than a saddle on a Sunday ride. I don't know what kind of magic they sew into that fabric, but these shorts are comfier than my recliner and got more stretch than a yoga class for hamsters. They had patterns louder than a honky-tonk jukebox and colors that said, "I'm here to party, but I'll still mow your lawn if you need." Walked out with a couple pairs and the overwhelming urge to shotgun a seltzer on a boat. Bottom line: If your thighs ain't high-fivin' each other in Chubbies, you're wearin' the wrong shorts.
