Danielle offered us possibly the best service we've ever experienced, and was super gracious and cute to boot! The tiny kitchen pumped out delicious fare that surprises, given the less-than-glamorous size, layout, and decor of the bar. Sophisticated salads, meaty wings and handmade burgers were just some of the tasty treats offered here. The loaded tots were addictive. My girlfriend and I ate here for lunch on New Years Eve. We sat at the bar and had two appetizers, delicious. She order the pickles burger and I ordered a rueben sandwich, both were amazing. The bartender was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions/answering questions. Our only complaint was it took rather long to get a beverage refill and the restaurant was empty as she was prepping and answering the phone. Overall a palatial experience. read more

Pickles is a newer discovery for me. They have a pretty standard bar food menu and I haven't been disappointed in the food. To get to the dining room you have to go past the bar and it is seat yourself. Pretty small too. I would have given a 4-star review, but the service was SLOW. We sat down and waited at least ten minutes to be greeted. After ordering our food, it took upwards of a half hour. We all ordered burgers; it simply shouldn't take that long. I'll likely try going again hoping for speedier service. It's a nice change of pace in Wheeling with pretty good food. read more

Me and my fiancé have lived in wheeling for awhile and have just decided to go to Pickles because we have heard lots of good things about it. We walk in and the place is almost dead. Just a few people at the bar and two other groups eating who leave shortly after we arrive. We sit for ten minutes and no one comes to see us. I walk up to the waitress behind bar whos wearing glasses and has. blonde hair in pig tails and I ask her if we can get a menu. She gives us a menu and finally takes our drink order. We sit another 10 minutes and no one comes to see us in a basically dead restaurant. We decide to leave because it didn't seem like anything was going to get better. Used to love coming here when in town for work...they always had good draft beer selections and even some local selections...when I came here today the only draft they had was bud light...ugh... I can drink that horse piss anywhere...I always liked the fact that they had local options and great food to go with it...unfortunately the wings were the same story....the wings came out crispy...not just crispy...super crispy and dry...could definitely tell that these were double cooked...makes even more sense that they came out from the kitchen in 5 min...I am all for fast food...a lot of people have a lot of shit to do...so they got to go..but I am ok with savoring a good local beer while waiting for my wings to cook properly. I spoke to the owner about this...he came over and was engaging...I did not complain but just told him about the fact that for me the experience of "pickles" had changed...in fact there has been an ownership change since my last visit...maybe that has something to do with the experience change . When speaking with the owner he said that I would leave happy...I said that I was happy because I was hungry and I did not want to wait to have him cook me actually fresh wings..given this experience I don't know that I will come back...I can't speak to the rest of of the food, but unfortunately,maybe a fluke, I did not enjoy my pickles experience this time. read more

I've never eaten at Pickles, but heard a lot of good things so I decided to get an order to-go a few days ago. I ordered a buffalo wrap & fries with extra onside ranch & buffalo dip. The woman who took my order said it would be an hour & thirty minutes which I thought was odd. First visit tonight, just driving through so decided to try it. Initially we were nervous because we were the only family there (not to mention with 3 small children in tow) this evening. We sat in a separate dining room away from the bar and the entire place, including restrooms, was very clean. The establishment posts right on the door that it is a family friendly restaurant and they absolutely were. Service and the patrons were very nice, respectful, (and everyone was very well behaved from the bar side as well). The food was very good- apps, burgers, wraps, sandwiches, salads, wings. Thursday wing night was in full swing and the wings were nicely sized, good price and tasty. They have about 15- 20 sauces to choose from. We ordered an app (fried pickles-- were really good!), our meals and 3 side salads. One of the salads was to split for the 3 kids and they (without asking) split it in the kitchen and plated it for them nicely- each with their own dressing. The food was very good and prices are reasonable. Overall we were very pleasantly surprised after our initial bar impression and would definitely return. Wasn't sure about this place from driving and the way it looked, but when I finally went in for lunch one day I was pleasantly surprised. The bar area is fairly small and cozy, but there is a good sized room in the back for dinning and gathering. The menu had some good options at reasonable prices. My wrap was very good. I am visiting Wheeling WV for 3 days from Pittsburgh PA. This place came up on near by places on Google maps. I saw it got good reviews and the pics of food looked great. So i figured I would try this place out since I never have on previous trips. It looks like a small hole in the wall,but opened up when you get inside. Very casual,laid back kinda place. It's very clean. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and quick. The person who delivered my food was also friendly. I ordered the pickles Burger and waffle fries. The burger was made from fresh ground beef,not a all ready firmed Patty. It was a good size and it came out medium, which is the way I ordered it. The fries were fresh and very good. So was the burger. And the prices are great. $2.75 for bottle yuengling and $8 for Burger and fries. I would definitely come back to this place! Went for lunch yesterday and got there about 12ish. Small crowd and sat at the bar to keep the tables open. Ordered my food within 10 minutes and sat in for the usual long wait. (always slow here but food is usually good). Bartender kept coming out of the kitchen over the next 40 minutes and apologized to the bar customers for the long wait saying he didn't know what was taking so long. When my food came out, it was brought out by someone in the back and was sat down in from of me without any fork, napkin, ketchup or mustard. Portions were small and the fries, (usually I haven't been able to finish all of them in the past because of amount), the bun top was cold (yet was toasted?) and the burger looked to be a frozen patty (even though touted as a Miklas Meat Market meat). Began to eat after getting salt and pepper off a table with the bartender walking back and forth oblivious of anyone's needs. A girl ordered a steak salad to go about 10 minutes after I had placed my order and I was finishing up my lunch when they took her money but that salad had yet to show. I mentioned that this was ridiculous and she just frowned and called her employer to let them know she would be back to work soon. The gentleman who brought my lunch plate out drifted by and removed the empty plate when I was done and 10 minutes after that the bartender stopped and asked me if I had my food yet? I wish I could give a five. They have great ideas! Great product..... Their kitchen lacks very much in consistency. Since the first time I had the spicy shrimp salad I was hooked... I get up in the morning craving it. Is this not what you want to achieve as a restaurant? Well you did with me. I told every one. I took friends. Well three visits ago I took two friends. I ordered as normal and my friend said "I will have the same.) (Let me explain the spicy shrimp salad is by far the best I have ever had with the spice, feta and I always add a hard boiled egg and love the spring mix. Which is one big reason I love it) well with my friends after I built it up all week. I order just as I described. We received a Greek chicken salad and a Greek shrimp salad. I was asked if I would like for them to just bring out the spices to sprinkle on my salad.... What??? No?? That is not close to being cooked in it with oil??? Hello!! Ok they made mine right and my friend kept the Greek one. I paid cause I felt bad because I built this up all week. Then second mistake.. I go to work and talk my boss into picking up there. I woke up thinking about the spicy shrimp, spring mix, feta cheese, and their ranch dressing. So we order. I get it back to the office and yep it's wrong. No feta. If you know feta it's not the same as mozzarella. Also they decided to put white onions. I really did not care, but my boss does not like onions and I assured her it had none. (In the past nine) I eat it and go on. I call they were nice and assured next visit it would be perfect. That's all I wanted. Well today was that day. I talked my boss into it again. We call and order. I even express how apprehensive I was about returning and she said it would be right. I hang up, me and my boss have a conversation about how their salads are so much better than cheap salads. I go pick them up. She says "I forgot to inform you we ran out of spring mix and your salads are made with ice-burg" she asked if I still wanted it. I said no. I'm done. We just talked about how I hated iceberg. I told her I did not want to pay for something I did not like. Well I wanted to look at it. I just wanted that shrimp and feta so bad. So I opened it to look at it. As you can see I have had many and know exactly what this salad has been in the past. Well one look I knew the shrimp was wrong. In all the salads that I loved the shrimp was a shiny red from the oil and canon seasonings cooked in it. Well on top of my "ice burg" lettuce was brown shrimp with hot sauce sprinkled on it. Yep. I guess because I'm dumb and they have no across the board training I was not to notice. I'm telling you I would take any person that crosses my path to here if I could trust the kitchen was consistent. As I'm writing this my husband asked what I'm doing. I tell him. He says "that place you say has the best salafs in the world" I said yep but it's Russian roulette. Hit and miss and this saddens me very much. read more

This is definitely my favorite place to go. Renovated interior with local sports and historical pictures hanging on the walls. Nice large bar and dining area in back . What really impressed me was we brought some friends from out of town to check the place out and they brought their kids. The owner brought out mini corn-holes and the kids had a great time so it's absolutely family friendly. The food is locally sourced and super tasty. I always get the Bacon Ranchero wings and my wife gets the Captain Crunch chicken. I've also had the Pickles burger which is delicious. Also the staff is super friendly and very quick.
